When they get there, Hawke is just chilling with the Fade spirits and a big ass dead spider next to them. “oh hey babe was wondering when you’d get here”
I was always so upset that you had to make that hard choice in Inquisition. I had Grey Warden Alistair and my Hawke that romance Fenris.... I like to think maybe there will be a quest in DA4 where I can reunite them.
His writer really messed up his character but if you did rival-romance him, he does tell you he can't remember things and feels Justice/or whatever has been using his body when he is asleep. That war was going to happen sooner or later from what I got from the codex.

I really can’t rivalmance Fenris even if I play as mage. I mean he had no affection from anyone his whole life and was abused, tortured with and because of magic. He needs an example of how mages can be trustable. Besides he needs a friend, not a rival.
That's why I never understand why the writers never gave us at least a Anders and Fenris friendship; both have been abused sexually, mentally, and physically; both hate blood magic. Makes me wonder if the writer (She herself saw how bad she written him in some cases) for Anders had keep his old personality on how hides his pain through being sarcastic but I understand that Vengeance changed him. I always picture Anders and Fenris slowly becoming friends along with Hawke helping them come to terms with their problems.

I romanced my Hawk to Anders and have him help out with crazy plot and then protect them just so I can justify proteting Warden Alistair. In my cannon he is king though, so Stroud eats it.

So I found myself on this video, for all its faults I think DA2 had good dialogue and that kept me going through it... Didn't matter how many re-used dungeons there were. Game got some hard reviews I think I recall but in me it has a warm place at least to shield itself from the cold.

God the game really did have amazing story and dialogue but fell super short in gameplay. Made me write an OC with friends to make our own little story within the DA universe :)
