Helpful tip. thank you! I have owned my 01 WJ since new and have been messing with the brake light not working off and on for the past 5 years. I will try prying the tabs up and wedging a zip tie in.
Did the same thing on my brake light with no success - sprayed the inside of the socket with CRC cleaner and let it soak before blowing it out and it worked fine.

Im trying to find a video like this but for my 1998 jeep cherokee laredo but i opened up my break light and mine doesnt have those silver tabs and my bulbs are connected by wires to the inside 😢 my right side brake works but not my left and the bulb works but i think its a connection issue but because of the model and year its not this easy to fix
I actually think the black looked better on Chris' WJ.
I would be curious to see how bright the black one is at night though, not a huge fan of tinted brake-lights, I like people being able to see when I am braking lol.
Yea we plan on putting a black one in once we get the new batch! We sold out of the black before I made the video! So I’ve ran the tinted brake light for a year and a half to two years bright enough to see when you’re braking it is still translucent you can see the leds through the lens so they aren’t super tinted

I went with all red led tail lights & third brake light after coming across that issue with both oem tail lights on my wj. Definitely worth it lol

Yup. That the crapiest desing jeep came up with for that light assembly. See this problem with this style jeep on the road all the time. Eventually you are gonna have to replace the entire unit, can only bend and finger the damn thing so much 🤷
So what do you think about the lights staying on all the time. Same vehicle 2000. Took out the brake swith and still it's on. All tail lights.
Am gonna go ahead and replacement the tail lights with completely different buld ser up. But in the mean time I have this problem 🤦♂️

Having a similar issue where the left works with the lights off but the right doesn’t and the right works with the lights on but the left doesn’t. Wonder if this is a similar issue/fix.

Look up “wj tail light circuit board”. Take a heat gun and melt the glue, take the old one off, put the new one on. You can fix this without replacing the tail light and without bending things. Dorman makes them.
Does it matter which way you plug it in, when I have all my lights on it glows the whole time but when I don’t have my lights on it doesn’t glow when I hit the brake at all?.

I had the same problem on my wj I just ended up replacing the whole circuit board for like 22 bucks so I wouldn’t run into this problem again
Fun fact I almost stabbed my eye with a screwdriver replacing a board on my old WJ😂
The red looks good with the black. He needs the red led taillights to set it off.
I was telling him to tint the yellow to red on the lights so they are red and white that would be sick
Yea man tell him not to black it out everyone is doing that do something different. I personally like the black on yours and the red on his.
