I'm not surprised Flammy. The way you just glide through all those high level maths solutions is a testament to your intellectual ability. You're a genius.
Exactly! The people in Mensa want you to believe that you cannot increase your iq-test score and that there is no point in preparing for the test. They want everyone to believe that they are genetically superior humans to stroke their own egos. Also, Mensa charges around $100 to join, which is pandering to the egos of people with low self-esteem. In a way that makes the founder/owner(?) the real genius and the others suckers.
Maybe he was annoyed because he actually thought he was average and managed to get good at maths despite that, but it's really expected of someone with an IQ of 145 to do well at pretty much anything. It's not an achievement, it's something he was born with.
Lolopopolo well he’s basically as low in conscientiousness as one can be but studying only 2 days before the exam and passing it while over 90% of the students failed does take a certain level of intelligence. Furthermore he studied maths which can come in handy for iq tests because there’s a lot of pattern recognition going on in those and that’s basically one of the skills you learn in uni I also doubt that he could have done anything considering his approach of studying (stuff like medicine or law where you have to remember so much shit is probably not exactly his strength)
Lolopopolo yeah, I remember papa also said that he only cared about getting a passing grade because if you want to become a maths teacher in Germany no one’s gonna care about your grades so he wasn’t like a top scorer but rather pretty damn smart considering which exams he just passed like that

I scored 145 on the German Mensa IQ Test (took it 2011) yet I've had severe problems with math in University, which years later turned out to be because of how bad my school program was (we basically did nothing there and I had to start all over again learning basically everything from scratch, no differential equations, no probability theory... and university requires you to know binomial coefficients in your first week... you can imagine how I felt knowing literally nothing and there's no time to catch up because they pile material on top of you each week). Richard Feynman was only recorded by Mensa to have an IQ of 125, yet somehow he excelled in mathematics so well that he received records and awards from the University. I'd question the IQ test for sure, because Richard Feynman was a genius and deserved to be recognized by the elite of his day. Even though Mensa denied him membership, the world still recognizes him as one of the top physicists of the 20th century. I'd rather believe that "Mensa" is "stupid" (like the Spanish would say) and that there more intelligence in a Table or Star (like the Romans would say) than in this ignominious High IQ Society.
The test measures your intelligence, not your skill at physics. It's not like 125 is idiot territory. He was still way more intelligent than the average person.
@@MrCmon113 my hypothesis is that the IQ test only tests a person how well he does on the specific IQ TEST. Northing more. I am a Classics major. I've studied Greek since I was 11 years old. Someone like Sir Isaac Newton would have done well. But Albert Einstein would have failed my questions because he didn't know Greek or Latin ,... or even Hebrew for that matter. I was expecting 140-145 before the video and it turned out to be pretty accurate. You got a lot of skills you take for granted which many people do not have. For example, recognize series or sums (patter recognition / good memory), doing math memes (deep understanding of a concept and linking seemingly unrelated sruff), doing math videos (problem solving skills and clear logic). There aren't many people with all those skills in real life. You might have seen many of them whether in university or on internet, but probably a very few or none besides in those 2 places.

Yes gladwell said that how it feel is function of your relative standing, in a talk don't go to Harvard. Or if youre environment is smart you feel average.
It's more about wisdom than intelligence. Having a high IQ means you have a high IQ. You have a proclivity for solving certain problems. That's it. "No one in their right mind takes pride in their talents" - Miss Maudie, To Kill A Mockingbird. The reason you don't take pride in your talents, is that you did nothing to achieve them. IQ is a tool to achieve great things, but is not an achievement in itself. We don't admire Stephen Hawkins because he was smart, but because of what he achieved. It's a dangerous thing to be take pride in IQ, since it might leave you feeling like you've already achieved something, and you'll end up not using your IQ for anything worthwhile, and therefore wasting it. As you live longer, you'll meet people with lower-than-genius IQs, who are way smarter than you in ways you didn't know existed. Stay humble guys.
Sir I think you need to be a little less critical on yourself. You're clearly smart and its evident, even from the way you talk. I mean you could still remember sections of the IQ test hours after you sat it and you even tried to generalise it by its topics for your viewers that may want to sit it themselves. That by itself deserves some respect. Historically, smart people have denied their intelligence levels when they are told that they are as smart as they are. You sir are clearly quite gifted and even convincingly present yourself by the IQ you've been given. Additionally, its fine if you dont agree with your score, you could try one of the many prestigious IQ tests around the globe that may give you a more accurate result (possibly with a true and exact reading of your IQ). So please instead of denying your IQ score and your intelligence, do some research around why you may gotten the score that you attained before you downgrade yourself. Furthermore, please remember that its okay and important to criticise yourself to get consistently smarter and better at whatever you do but dont be too critical with yourself as it can negatively hinder productivity and success in all strains of life. Keep up with the quality content sir, its an honour to be in the prescence of such an intellectual like yourself and remember to stay positive and focussed as these two things are the greatest catalysts of development amd success.

I believe IQ measurements become more or less useless after 120-130 as these people are capable of any cognitive challenge that could be faced on a day to day basis... That said, people with a higher IQ who have the possibility to become geniuses face a plethora of requirements that we can't currently measure which could allow them to make important breakthroughs or truly visualize the world in a different way. Still, very impressive and really shows your already explored potential!

Yeah. I am a math major too, with an interest in education so the obvious path was to go into mathematics teaching. My young naive self really thought that anyone could be taught any math of any level, if only we could find the right way. Then, for the first time in my life, I banged my head against a topic I was just too dumb to ever grasp. It's strange - it wasn't the first hard course, or the first exam I failed... I didn't even fail the exam, in fact. But in all the other courses, I never lost the certainty that with sufficient time and effort I could come to master the topic. Not so for dread Algebraic Surfaces. That course is completely beyond me, no matter the effort and time I expend. If this is how people feel about maths, then teaching is a lost cause.

I'd be curious to see if a second test improves the number. I'd also be curious if you would take another in 10 years, 20 years, 30 years if the score differs. Ten years ago I had taken Mensa's test twice and the second time I scored slightly higher. However, due to a bit of declining health, I now feel like I would not do as well. @@ElchiKing Oh. Well. Apologies then. I thought the test revolved around logic and logic only, based on the pre-test and what some of my friends, who took it, told me. I shouldn't have assumed anything.
I was under the impression that an IQ test is quite heavily focused on your abstract thinking, so people with a strong math/physics background perform well. But im thinking that its much more difficult to measure creativity, and honestly speaking (as a physicist myself) its this creativity which distinguishes the average (like myself) from the truly elite.
Yes it’s true, professional Mathematicians and physicists have an average IQ between 135-145. This is due to high levels of abstract thinking, reasoning and complex problem solving skills that are picked up while studying these subjects. The average IQ of professional Chemists and Biologists however drops massively, they average between 120-130, this is due to a lack of abstraction and more focus on rote learning. So yes your hypothesis is correct, the more exposure to abstract thinking = the higher your IQ will be.

So I had to drop out. Kinda sucks that life went some other way and I can't really blame myself, what do I know as a kid what I need for university?

One could literally learn the entire 13 years school program in 3 months (which I did, and even more than that), so I am here asking why do we as a society spend so much resources on public education which sucks donkey balls. All you need is a few good books and $1.50 in late library fees.
So how's life as a university drop out? Do you regret your decision? I'm also considering to do that myself even when the major is CS, since it feels like a waste of time considering the quality of instruction, I don't even understand what I already know, what I see on youtube or MIT open courseware etc is like infinitely better quality.
Keep up with the quality content sir, its an honour to be in the prescence of such an intellectual like yourself and remember to stay positive and focussed as these two things are the greatest catalysts of development amd success.

literally gets the highest iq,possibly even higher in reality*
him: this is beyond madness, i can't even solve all unsolvable math problems in my head
Before the reveal: it’s between 140 and 180 isn’t it.
After reveal: called it.
I took a terrible free IQ test and got... I think it was either 129 or 139, something like that. It was really bad though. It had the Fibonacci sequence in it. I don’t think it’s a good idea to put recognizable sequences in test measuring intelligence.
You can take a mensa test also online
@@trollloloololooo yes, however that test isn't anywhere near the actual tests
excatly there is a lot of math questions on most IQ tests and people that do a lot of math have clear advantage over those that dont
(I never actually joined Mensa although I was invited as I truly didn't feel it would add value to my life.)
You didnt miss out. Mensa has a habit of attracting narcissists.
@@ethanneal8158 Friend's mom was one. You can imagine how annoying it was growing up and seeing her.. Even more so when se was not really that bright! I always had to explain things to her the simplest way till se could understand. She really liked to think she was right even when she was not.
Sry for any miss spellings as I got dyslexia and english is not my first language lol.
Your IQ does decline as you get older, but physically exercising can maintain fluid intelligence. There is some variance in tests, and if you repeat IQ tests your score will increase but your inherent cognitive abilities stay the same.
There’s studies on all the questions you asked
“How high is my IQ?”
Me, instinctively: Yeah, let’s not go there.... 😭😂😂
Relatable... as for me, I don't even want to take the test, because "low iq" feels like "worthlessness", and "high iq" feels like "unwanted expectations and responsability"... well, maybe, if you deal with these kinds of emotions, you might take the test and just keep the number to your self as a secret. 😄
Though I'm not a great believer in the value of IQ tests, I'm not at all surprised you scored high. The headaches worry me, though. There has to be a cure.
I did IQ test at psychologist and scored above average. I can't do well under pressure so don't know how much accurate my score is.
Soo this popped up in my recommendations lmao
You live your life with headaches constantly?? And taking An IQ test when you have a headache?? You're a very strong young man.. I hope you will getting better. You have become my inspiration.
Lol I did the Mensa IQ test when I was your age and never went to any meetings. It was just a 'prove that no one is better than you' kind of thing. The fact is, though, that people with much lower IQs than mine are indeed better than me in their domain...
I had a falling out with a friend bcs she was into the Mensa stuff and joined it. It can have exactly 2 purposes for people: 1) asocial and unsecure people that want a place to connect with others that are also nerdy 2) people that think they are god‘s gift and need an ego boost.
@@screwhalunderhill885 I don’t think people who think they’re god’s gift need an ego boost
I’m in Mensa, and I’m not surprised about your results at all :)
How many points did he score for the IQ test?
All of them
145
I also did the Mensa IQ test a few years ago. It was a really interesting experience.
I think Mensa also offers the test cheaper than others but you have to pay extra if you want a detailed result.
Rich people : money doesn't matter
Beautiful people : looks don't matter
Flamable maths : iq doesn't matter
Mensa's IQ tests rely solely on logical thinking, as opposed to Wechsler's. I personally had my IQ tested, but using the Wechsler's scale, in the context of being diagnosed as autistic. I consider myself an absolute dumbass though, ahah.
Not quite. I once took it and completely failed the memoration part (because I thought, they would come up with similar sounding, but wrong answers, but afterwards found out that remembering the first letter would've satisfied...)
@@ElchiKing Oh. Well. Apologies then. I thought the test revolved around logic and logic only, based on the pre-test and what some of my friends, who took it, told me.
I shouldn't have assumed anything.
the Wechsler scale is not the same as mensas right? If you score 120 on Wechsler, its not the same as scoring 120 on mensas, right?
@@THEMRblackboy7thst It's not, indeed.
@@loustoc so if i score 126 in wechesler iq test, do you know how much that is in the normal scale?
"Don't be a jerk" lmfao, I need that shirt
always available at my shop! :D
Your story of headaches and nosebleeds, plus your affinity for math, reminds me of Darren Aronofsky's Pi.
Creativity has no correlation to intelligence as it's such a subjective quantity to score
Can't measure creativity it is a gift from another dimension.
@@stolen.teh.tealeafs From the best psychological research we have, iq is correlated with intelligence. Not an extremely strong correlation, but the correlation is still there
The way I've seen you solve integrals, I don't doubt that I Q score at all. Also, I read your Masters thesis, so not really a big surprise.
Beatiful calendar dude!
This isn't that surprising. You're definitely a super smart guy. Beyond just the fact that this is a channel dedicated to On Fire, Flammable Maths, your a passionate work engine. Making these videos, editing them, marketing your channel, studying for the sake of content and also to reach a greater understanding, teaching others, and helping many students across the world.
