  • Do you want to raise both your IQ and intelligence? I'm the person to help you do so. I'm a member of 16 high IQ societies including Mensa, the Triple Nine Society (for people with IQs in the 99.9th percentile and above - mine is above) and I was honored in Michigan's House of Representatives for winning a global election to become the World Genius Directory's 2016 Genius of the Year for America. This video will show you how to build the intellectual foundation necessary to propel your intellectual progress forward. These steps are deceivingly easy to implement and can truly change the quality of your life. Please remember to like the video and to subscribe to my TH-cam channel so that you'll be able to see all of the upcoming videos that will be focusing on intelligence and genius. Thank you!

@@DavidBloodJohnson It's great hearing from you again, David. I've heard it said that a persons past doesn't have to equal their future ... and it's true! The time you spent eating poorly and in whatever environment you were in doesn't define you ... YOU DO! Let go of the past, forgive yourself if necessary and move positively forward toward the life you most desire by making the best choices possible for yourself. One other thing, I used to tutor college/university students and many older students felt out of place in the classroom. Don't let that stop you because you will be an excellent example that will give hope to others AND you have 40 years left until retirement ago of 67. You have so much life ahead to live and to shine. @Avocado Toast I appreciate the kind words, but I see it as a curse that I need to be rid because along with it i have a learning/intellectual disability, severe ocd, add/adhd, ptsd, intrusive thoughts, etc. I am doing this all on my own, and I'm 2 years past the age of a fully developed brain. My family abandoned me, and pretty much left me to rot. I will always see this as a curse to be rid of. I never even finished high school because I was kicked out. I may be too late for me to go through neurogenesis, and neuroplasticity. I'm pretty much screwed for the rest of my life. I can't eat normal food like everyone else. All of my interests are things that do not even contribute to society, but no matter how much I want to get away from those interests, my brain will not let me.

Jeffery Ford hi, I'm a kid, my dad has an IQ of 160. He's considered a, "Super genius" He often says I could be a genius. That's one of my dreams. My mom tell's me, "Your not a genius. Your dad has a very high IQ, but is not a genius. Genius's have very hard life's and are introverts." I think that their's people who are smarter then you, everybody has an equal. A minor, and a superiority. I have ADHD, so attention span is hard for me, but I've figured out too control it... So, you've really helped me. I'm only 11, so I'm still not very. "Wise" But I'm still trying to imagine ME being a genius, I hope you see this...

Da real Mr crbs, I'm not Jeffery Ford, but thought I'd chime in. When I was growing up, I was in much the same situation. My father was, and is, a genius (on the IQ scale). Although, that does not mean it comes without character flaws, sometimes to a fault.
You're very humble for your age to understand that everyone falls within a spectrum, where there are always people above and below. My advice to you is to focus on learning as much as you can, exploring the world, and fostering your own curiosity. Don't pay too much attention to IQ scores or any other measure of intelligence. What matters the most is if you enjoy life, enjoy company, and have fun.

22 years old here, and you have been right on point in taddressing solitude and daydreaming as the key to an active intellectual life. I've always been a very introspective and introverted person and daydreaming has been a constant in my daily life since I was 9. I never had the chance to develop typical friendships with peers my age, so daydreaming was a way for me to be occupied and it's done it's job in making me feel less alone. I recommend the book Solitude: In Pursuit of a Singular Life in a Crowded World by Michael Harris. It's one of my comfort reads and there is a lovely section in one of the chapters addressing the importance of daydreaming to reinforce a sense of self-identity.

This is very interesting. From my experience, it seems as if I've increased my IQ over a 4 year span. I don't know if it's because of puberty, but I experienced a huge increase in mental capabilities around 9th grade. The year before, I got bad grades in a class, so I told myself I would get straight A's throughout all of high school. In 9th grade, I suffered daily to attend to my anxiety and lack of focus. Ever since that year, I've been getting better ever since. These tips seem to be true according to what I experienced over the years in high school. If I had anything to add (now that I'm writing this on the spot), then it would be to practice introspection and/or mindfulness meditation. For me, I was lonely in high school, so I spent most of my time alone. The world, as it truly is, really opens up to you once you train your metacognition to look at your thinking and behavior. I've learned to move past my enslaving psychological complexes.

@J People who lack mindfulness, self-awareness, and boundaries are more susceptible to influence from social media. And the influence from social media can vary from being healthy to extremely neurotic, depending on what is going on in the culture at that time & the person's history on the app. Where social media can engender neurosis, it is pathological and can trap people in loops of fantasy-indulgence. Thus, the person using the app should heavily monitor themselves and their social media ecology in order to avoid any neurotic influence & fantasy entrapment going against their individuation. The healthiest parts of social media would be those influences which inspire action in the world, self-development, good relating with others, and the acquisition of resources for the fulfilment of your potential.

You are right about how it feels good to be around people on your iq level. I just got this nice feeling while listening to you and seeing how you think and acknowledge the multilayered nature of things. Actually the lack of connection I usually get make me feel almost antisocial and sad. It is such a relief to at least connect with what you say. I never wanted to segregate people but maybe I will find refuge in one of this societies you mentioned. Thanks for sharing.

I just found your channel and appreciate you covering a topic that is often misrepresented, misinterpreted, or clouded in emotional arguments. Over ten years ago, I achieved a Prometheus score on one of the Hoeflin tests (the one without vocabulary questions). Back then my vocabulary was weak, and my scores, such as SAT, reflected that. I made an effort to read more fiction (including your favorite), and, as you recommend in this video, I sought out authors with a variety of backgrounds, genders, etc. The Hoeflin tests are no longer active--maybe not even available--but my vocabulary has drastically increased alongside my writing ability.
Your mentioning of focus is great point that others tend to ignore. People talk about intelligence as an innate trait, like hair color, that is independent. I think it is more helpful to think of intelligence as a skill, like throwing a ball. Nobody knowledgeable discounts the genetic influence, but throwing a ball well relies on neuromuscular factors, flexibilty, advantageous anatomy. And, of course you can practice and improve!

I am very grateful to have discovered you and this video, I lack a lot of focus but I can watch small portions of this video at a time and digest what you are saying more easily because you are presenting this with such an adroit sense of humbleness that I dont get a feeling of negative self image as you speak. I have a younger brother and he is intelligent but he has that need to dominate and compete that you mentioned...he is disdainful of my speaking of emotions and feelings about people around us. Hi Phillip, I like your strategy of taking things in small steps and building upon them. Also, sometimes things can get lost if one hears too much all at once. Chunk it down and really, really understand and perhaps even master that one thing and then go back to the video, podcast or book - I've done that before myself. You're trying to authentically understand and not just rush through something. I respect that. All my best to you!

If someone asks really good questions however it can show they have good listening skills, comprehension, are actively questioning and analysis what is being said and they know what to ask to improve their knowledge.

Good and sound advice all around, Jeffery. A few thoughts from someone much closer to the opposite end of the IQ spectrum from you:
    * Regarding “consider the source,” something I think is important as a prerequisite to that is having a good foundation of self-knowledge. Without knowing one’s _own_ biases and other cognitive tendencies, considering (or speculating about) those of others has a higher potential for misuse (e.g., by getting deflected/rejected by one’s own unrecognized biases, or further reinforcing them).
    * I suspect that in many cases, people who use poor grammar, punctuation, and syntax don’t know it, and so won’t seek out resources to improve it no matter how abundant and easily accessed the resources are. But what you said later in the video, about the potentially positive influence of reading good writing by those you’d want to emulate, could be useful in at least some of these cases.
    * Where you said “daydreams are _not_ a waste of time,” I would say, daydreams not _necessarily_ a waste of time. It depends on the context (when, where, why, how long). I’m sure many of us are all too familiar with using daydreaming as a way of avoiding things, for instance.

    Hi Jeff,
I am an A.I. theorist and I came up with a new understanding of intelligence. Mental coordination. I have a meta-model that says we build models of the world then simulate what can happen. As we learn more we can subconsciously be creative combining what we know in new ways. My insight into this also was from Immanuel Kant. That all we can know is perception. So this is the metamodel. We recognize and then simulate then decide. I love your videos and hope you make more. I made some videos myself if you want to see them. You are a wonderful person. What you said in your video are good tips for how to organize thinking. It follows my model that I want to develop further. I am asking people to help me so I share with people and discuss with them my thoughts. I like solving problems like you. I want to understand how it is possible people can solve problems. That is why I am an A.I. theorist. I need to understand intelligence before I can create it. And I need to make friends to help me with what I cannot do myself. Keep making wonderful videos Jeff.

coming from a 16 yr old, but, never lose hope in life, in what you really at your best can be, sure it would take sacrifices, changes, things you may not wanna do, but the reward outweighs all of them, the brain is a fascinating little lump of protien and fat, believe in yourself. good luck to everyone who have been thinking that they were a loser up until now!

This is the first video of yours that I'm currently watching. Before noticing the potential clue with the videos on the right (Destroying Autism myths; which I'll be watching next), I'd already suspected that you were on the spectrum, having recognized certain traits and behaviours I've noticed in others and indeed in myself, since being diagnosed 5 years ago (at 33y.o.).
As soon as you started talking about tips to improve your concentration I was certain of it. Being comfortable by yourself and in silence and having a strong interest you can focus on. Words (or a way of being) I live by. Describes many an Autism/Aspergers introvert, I've met, including myself. I think proof of those tips effectiveness are demonstrated by the higher intelligence (or at least very knowledgable in their favourite area) often found in such of us. Our go to headspace/mindset just lends itself to the ideal environment for learning and concentrating. Not watched TV for years and don't have a mobile. Peoples need and addiction to their phones is beyond annoying; often not even focusing/concentrating on their environment, oblivious and drone-like*. If only they'd apply the same drive towards something constructive!
Daydreaming, a state of being I frequently consciously/unconsciously enter in to. I too enjoy some classical music. One of my deep interests is music, in particular Psytrance (far cry from classical), often going to raves, where I can go in to a trance and just intently focus on the music for 6, 10 sometimes 16hrs!
I won't post a link. But I'd highly recommend a listen to a track called Daydreaming by Talamasca!
"...often stares out the window daydreaming." - a sentence mentioned in two separate primary school school reports.
*I think in either Holland or Germany, the number of cases of people being hit by cars at crossings, staring at their phones, unaware of the traffic signals, that they installed traffic lights in the floors at the crossing, so they could be seen by the people always looking down at their devices!?!. What a sorry state for humanity!!
I wouldn't have done that for them. Pay some attention or learn a harsh lesson. Doing as such throws a proper spanner in to survival of the fittest; because if/when they finally put down their phone they're going to pro-create. Which is another thing not on our forefront, intelligence is being bred out, or at least smothered! Children might/would get in the way of our interests, so they're not happening! :D

This guy is the opposite of Jordon Peterson who claimed that your IQ is set at birth and there is nothing you can do about it.

    • @jefferyford5309
      @jefferyford5309  6 ปีที่แล้ว +107

Our potential for intelligence is set at birth because we can only rise to the potentiality our physical brains can take us - but our actualized intelligence (where we are at any given time of our lives) is certainly dependent upon numerous variables, many of which I elaborated on in this video that are definitely under our control if we so choose.

Paul Tremblay- well, I think Mr Ford's statement "Our potential for intelligence is set at birth because we can only rise to the potentiality our physical brains can take us " is pretty much what J Peterson says. So... not really the opposite.
Both guys talk a lot about improvement.

Great video! At a recent IQ test I scored 150 and I'm preparing soon to take the original supervised Mensa test and let's see. I'm playing so called 'brain games' at neuronation site, which I think are really great and helpful. I'm trying to limit my diet to the 5 following things: lean meat (I really like pork, as I know their anatomy is close to the humans and thus containing many good for humans nutrients), fish and seafood, leafy greens (lettuce, spinach, kale), different nuts (especially walnuts) and different berries. All of that as organic, as my budget allows me. I've just learned to juggle with 3 tennis balls counter clockwise and I'm planning to start learning soon to do it clockwise. And few other brain developing activities.
From all the mentioned things for brain development in the video, I would argue a bit about the grammar. For what it's actually good - for developing rigor? Maybe... In my view, too much concern about the grammar can be more of unnecessary obsession, than rigor developing factor. I'm always repeating to my friends, that the function of the language (spoken or written) is to transfer information. If the information is successfully transferred - the function is executed. Anything further is unnecessary formality. I'm trying as much as possible to avoid formalities. I think, that they are harmful for the thinking and hold back the intellectual development. My advice in this case is - rather let your imagination race wildly, than worry about rules and formalities.

Read philosophy and play chess I say. One is about understanding complex ideas, the other is about thinking ahead. Creativity, now that's a totally different ball game. No idea what my own IQ is, I passed the 11 plus thing in the UK, so it can't be too low. Met some guys though that just blew me away. Like a lot depends on your environment, work in local government or something and you think you're intelligent, move out of that into the real world and you meet these guys who are unreal.

This is all true and valuable information! Thank you for making this video! i Would like to touch on the importance of getting help... i cant stress that enough.. You mentioned about ADHD etc., people getting the help they need to focus.. I would highly encourage people to pursue any type of mental health they need... Personally, i am Bipolar.... When i finally addressed my mental health issue, my life became increasingly better... Not only my life, but I also started having a positive impact on other peoples lives. My mental abilities started astonishing me over time. In a two year time I had accomplished more than I had in my entire life. Doors started opening to me that i never thought possible.... So yes, please, if you need some type of help, get it. Don't be ashamed. Also, the part of environment... That is such a huge factor... Also, very key element you spoke on, Your environment. Your environment and the people you have around you are a key player, not only in your intelligent quotient, but in your ability to exceed in life. Create a positive and peaceful environment for yourself..... and stop being lazy. Put in the work, such as increasing your vocabulary. Thank you so much for this video and i truly hope this video reaches every person on this planet. I also hope with the worlds available technology, more and more people like yourself start to emerge and are able to play a larger part in our society... People like yourself are truly a blessing, and especially in this day in time, we need many more like you influencing the younger generations. Thank you for being you.

Love the video!! This is one of the few videos I didn't instantly change the speed to x2 on, I love your entire notion of intelligence, the school system, and so fourth. I'm not even that far into the video yet you're one of the most put together and respectable people I've seen. Thank you :)
second edit: YES THIS VIDEO IS CONVEYING AND COMMUNICATING SO MUCH I'VE TRIED TO TELL PEOPLE BUT WITH SO MUCH MORE CLARITY!!!! I'm in an AP research course and we've learned basic steps on evaluating sources thus i transferred that to other areas of my life and it's become so infuriating attempting to explain why someone should not trust a blog with no author and no citations on something such as politics. As much as I'd like to assume that's common sense it sadly is not. Anyhow back to the point, this video is so wonderful!! I'll definitely be showing it to various people I know

To branch off into a brief tangent: As a current high school student the message about cation in regards to trusting information is so important! Technology has become such a large part of where my generation gets information people have been oblivious to how inaccurate it can be. Google is so convenient, often people my age, myself included, believes sources simply because it's easier than finding a reliable source or true information or even checking the validity. Remembering how to and why you should be cautious is just so important, anyhow once again amazing video

    • @jefferyford5309
      @jefferyford5309  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Danielle! Please forgive the long delay. I'm happy to see that you're someone who truly gets it and understands the importance of seeing things in systems and patterns. Be grateful that you are aware of these things and possess the rare ability to actually listen and then assimilate (take in) the material. Please be kind to others because most people simply can't and it is not a character flaw - they literally are unable to listen and then gather what is important, take it all in and then constructively use it for their own and others advantage. My Dunning-Kruger video will explain why that is. Life can be frustrating at all stages and high school (and middle school) far more so. Make the most of your time and prepare yourself for an amazing future ahead! Stay curious, enjoy achievements and keep reading and learning. BTW, Look up my new page on Facebook. I now have a message a day to help people throughout their lives. I just started it two weeks ago. The page is called, Wisdom, Knowledge, Intuition & Love. If you like it and follow it you might find it could be of use to you. All my very best to you throughout your life.

I don't demand certainty and it is definitely okay to simply admit when you don't know something. Also, there are times to suspend judgement while going through the learning process. Plus, the mystery one experiences from learning more and more can be far more enlightening than believing in things that are not true.
