I grew up on a farm in Colorado. I watched my dad go through hell trying to preserve it and ultimately losing it. It pains him to this day that he wasn't able to continue farming. My wife and I recently moved to middle Tennessee and I see some of the same thing happening here. Small family farms are falling victim to urban sprawl. I hear many people who say that you can't stop progress. It really hurts my soul! Thank you for doing this short documentary. ❤️ 🚜 🐖 🐄 🌽
God bless your family and I am so sorry that you guys had to sell. It truly is devastating when you realize that this is where our food comes from, and that these folks dedicate their lives to providing it, only to be met with extreme pushback in every direction. Bless our farmers and we hope we see you sometime at a show!
@millerhollermusic you guys were the first show we went to when we moved to TN. Our daughter was visiting and she wanted to line dance in Nashville. Next thing you know we found ourselves at the Wildhorse rocking out with Miller Holler! It was awesome!
It’s so sad honestly, It’s the same here in England. Sounds like we have a similar situation, my dad spent his life working on the farm (which was co-owned by my grandfather, grandmother and dad), and due to the non-profitability of arable farming they were basically working to just keep it going. My dad also mentioned that because he didn’t have full ownership and that because the farm had a legal planning agreement that my grandparents entered in order to build the farm house, they couldn’t get loans to expand to try and make it profitable. Now half of the 220 acre family farm is being sold due to my aunt needing her inheritance. A future that could have been for me is lost due to this crisis and it upsets me a lot to think about it.
Insightful. I see some farmers on TikTok. Is that what Chris H means at 04:41? Perhaps this vid can evolve into its own channel on TH-cam or TikTok. I’m sure these stories could go on and on. I wish the hard working laborers were more valued than celebrities in our society. Regarding this vid I would have started out with more of a focus on the challenges. Regardless - beautifully filmed. 👍
So excited for this!!!!
❤
I miss this life so badly, I grew up on the land and that's where I'm going back to.
