I think the problem is the cars principal designer has checked out.
As an American, I love races on European soil. FP1 at 7:30? Sure! Race at 9 am? Can we make it 8 am instead? I love getting my F1 fix first thing. I can't stand when I have to wait until after noon to watch a race. I'd even prefer a 4am race because at least then I can watch it as soon as I get up instead of waiting until much later in the day.
It's true.
I live in California, practice 3 starts at 3:30 am for me. Many times I have to watch practice 1 & 2 on the Mexican cable station due to our local cable co. I have absolutely no clue what they are saying, but I don’t care on time either I just love F1.

@59:26 2017 and 2018 were exciting and competitive seasons with Seb finishing P2 in the drivers. Just have a look at the drivers WDC points to assess how competitive a season is. (2017 - Lewis P1 363 points, Seb P2 317) (2018 - Lewis P1 408, Seb P2 320) Compare that to Max's domination (2022 - Max P1 454, Charles P2 308) (2023 - Max P1 575, Sergio P2 285) This is a whole different level of domination.
This is what I was saying when everyone was talking about the safety car/Max having damage: Max was not comfortable with the car the entire weekend of the Miami GP. Part of me wants to chalk at least some of that up to it being a sprint weekend, and I think that was a factor, but the other 9 teams were working within the constraints of a sprint race weekend, too.
Although it was hugely significant that Lando had more pace towards the end of the race than Max did, for me the most important thing was Red Bull not managing to get the car right. Max doesn't seem to struggle as much with a car when it's not perfectly suited to his driving style. He tends to adjust to the car really well. So it's very odd to see him struggle so much, and I'm starting to wonder if there's something about the RB20's concept that is making the operating window significantly narrower than that of the RB19. I did not expect Red Bull to have similar struggles at Imola, and yet that's exactly what has happened so far.
I'm not about to call this a win for anyone other than Max on Sunday, but I do find it extremely interesting that they've now struggled two weekends in a row, at two very different tracks. That car seems to hate those soft tires in particular. Meanwhile, the other teams are finally starting to show some real improvements and, dare I say it, pace. I always take practice with a grain of salt, and I would not at all be surprised to see Max take pole again, but if these two sessions were any indication of the actual race, it could be interesting.
If MADMAX can put a Haas on pole! The Greatest should be able to handle a temperamental RB-20!!
I quite enjoy races on european time as someone living on the south american continent because I'm a morning person and an early bird so i don't mind
As a Max fan I hope the other guys will give him a challenge, that's how I started supporting him back in 2016. Competition brings out the best in him, we witnessed the dominant Max, now let's see the animal in him again.

It really cracks me up when i come across these types of comments, if we go by your moronic logic, then carlos sainz would be better than max and lewis for example since he has won 2 races without having the fastest car.
Competition makes Max uncomfortable and unstable.....he starts screaming to his race enginèer. He becomes very aggressive and unsportsly towards everybody around him......
Cameron Pirelli brought the softest tyres in the range. In order to bring these tires to the appropriate temperature the drivers have to drive very slowly while monitoring every tire's temperature to within two degrees. This inevitably means the drivers cannot pay enough attention to four different tires and their position on the circuit and the position of every other car on the track.
Nice to see the best team struggling and having issues. Still think will be a three way fight for pole.

@cameronf1 you neglect to consider the fact EJ also has a deal with Oyster and has now convinced AN to buy and perhaps go on a trip around the world which will sell more of their boats. Listen to one of AN podcasts where he talks evocatively about sailing around the Amalfi coast. Ferrari can offer all of what you are saying in terms of attractiveness plus the culture plus the sailing plus he can write his own cheque.

It seems like one Adrian Martin Newey OBE has activated the proverbial killswitch on his way out of the door.
It appears that all may not be well within the confines of the bull that is red.
Newey is barely gone and everything is going to shite already. At the rate things are going Verstappen will be lucky to win another title in that car this year. He should start looking at other teams. Red Bull is a sinking ship. Horner killed that team.

All the drama is all bull**** ! No company will keep an employee on when the employee will be leaving for a competitor. A company would be absolutely bonkers to let that employee hanging around. Rumors be rumors and all. But is Max side questing himself out of F1? That you not fastest in practice is fine, but thus far he ain't even faster than Perez.
