Ikr. This is one thing that's the exact same in both WEC and F1: horrible, HORRIBLE directoring. People threw shit at the Monaco GP crew, but F1's staff is not any better. Basically 90% of the action gets shown in replays. They just can't keep up. I guess that's why they added a live feed window when they show replays.
What bores those commentators are. Watched a pole and then droned on about a track limits issue that didn't exist. Sack them already they are spoiling the show.
One thing that makes current Hypercars so exciting is that you can extract speed by inducing slip. Almost Jim Clark-esque like the commentators said. Makes for spectacular on-boards
Interesting though that Anthony Davidson said sliding the car is NOT the fastest way with these cars, yet Kevin Estre said sliding the rear to help rotate the car in the corner was exactly what he did to get pole.
@@paulreilly3904 I assume the point is that going full initial D is too much. But you can set up a car to favor a bit of oversteer to help you rotate better through a corner.
Naturally it all depends on how much slip. Slip means less traction, but it also means faster rotation (up to a certain point). You can understand these trade offs with this video explaining how Schumacher and Verstappen enjoy a oversteery driving style. Lime Estre did here: m.th-cam.com/video/JZ0jIHcReE8/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUjc2NodW1hY2hlciB2ZXJzdGFwcGVuIGRyaXZpbmcgc3R5bGU%3D
@@jaguatiricaimediata5305 slip doesn't necessarily mean less traction. Too much slip of course will give you less traction, however, the right amount of slip is when the car has its most traction, just on the brink of sliding.
i strongly suggest all of you to watch the pole onbard replay of k. Estre in the first corner he had somenthing like 10° of slip angle and he still cought it. Insane skill and talent.
We hoped for competitive Le Mans, then we waited because of the barrier repairs bored and then wow... Probably the best qualifying session all year this season. Soooo pleased for the top 3 in Hypercar and Spike and McLaren finally taking it 🤞

It should be starting at 300pm (1500hrs) GMT. So 1000am EST (US). Where can I watch this in the US? Will it be streamed anywhere where I can join a ‘watch party’ (the chat room)?
I knew the Alpine would be the best of the newbies. To finish 6th in the battle for pole is DECENT ! all while sounding glorious in the process. The Alpine just need's some more speed and volume.
As a UK resident the race will take place at 2pm (or at least that’s when the broadcast starts) and I shall be watching on the WEC app where access to the race will cost you £15 which includes all onboards if you want them. @@nivek7631which if you ask me, carrying a penalty over from a race that was a MONTH AGO is bullshit, dont know why everytime cadillac gets a great result, they either crash or are penalized.
TV direction has been shocking this whole week, please fix it for the race although i doubt it given this is standard WEC at this point. We dont care about the crews, show us the track action
This WEC series will not make a dent in History and will be quickly forgotten. Why? Cars performances micromanagement. A bit faster? Get weight. Same power, same weight, same aero downforce etc... The performances themselves are capped and closely adjusted to keep the cars nearly identical. We all remember the Porsche 962C, the Mclaren MP4, the BMW M3, The 1960's Ferrari... Why? Because the cars were allowed to be better than the competition, and they dominated. And yet, people were still watching. What made the WEC Audi domination times boring wasn't the known winner, it was the lack of competition. Very few manufacturers were actually trying to go and get'em. So dominating cars took their turn in those years. I am aware that unfortunately, this is also why manufacturers are back: These rules that make every car nearly identical in performance. Less ricks in terms of marketing. If these rules were back to the permissive days and only limited by fuel capacity, weight, displacement etc., back to letting engineers make the very best car? Probably, the manufacturers would be less motivated to come cause they take the risk to look bad. They don't actually like competition. The teams do, not the companies head. So maybe it was the only way to have all these big names, but then it's just like watching dice being thrown, with any result might randomly pop up. No car is better than another so what's the point? It has become a tyre change championship pretty much :/ Again, I know the organisers might not have any choice in the matter, but it's a bit sad. None of these cars will be remembered as a legend, whoever wins, cause none is allowed to be the best. Could just be all LMP2 by different manufacturers, but all with the exact same specs. This is also partly why I gave up on F1 - these engines rules are just too much.
All this stupid stuff about "crossing the lines". If they don't want people to drive outside of them, they shouldn't pave it beyond them. All of the road, all of the time.
Yeah, the track limit at the end of kevin's lap is the gravel, i've seen other drivers get over the white lines too. The no2 caddy went over it as well. That being said, i'm sure there is worse.
My favourite part was @ 03:59 when the TV director chose to show people in the pits whilst there were still cars on track setting pole laps.
The amount of times I’ve shouted at my TV over this years coverage because of this…
