      @@s33therfan i'm having practically the same problem.
      It jerks from a stop or during transition from EV mode to gasoline engine mode and while braking.
      and when the car is warmed up can't go up hill sometimes.
      it jerks shifting into drive or reverse.
      I guess the issue is related to the coil pack.
      I haven't changed it yet but I want you guys to confirm if it is the same issue.

My car has had this issue for months and throughout 3 shops including dealerships, I just picked up my car and the dealership said it’ll be over $5000 to replace the transmission. So I’m shopping around for a new transmission for this 2012 Hyundai Sonata hybrid. As I’m searching your video fix popped up! Wow , ok I watched this video 3 times and my fingers are crossed I really need this car fixed and I can’t afford a new one. So now how do I change out these coils? Hi Great Video, do you know where is it located the AC expansion Valve?
    I’m having this issue started the other day it was blowing cold air. I checked the gauge and it was low on Freon.
    Today I filled it to the right amount in accordance with environmental temperature. The low end is good but the high temperature is moving drastically from 500PSI to 150 PSI!
    Sometime it blows cold it and then it doesn’t.

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The expansion valve is on the fire wall where the ac lines run. You have to remove the lines to be able to get to it. Then the expansion valve is usually bolted on as well. I would also replace the condenser while I was at it. The condenser can get blockages and cause high pressure issues. Of course have the system recovered and empty before starting any work. Hope this helps.

    I have been dealing with this same problem with my 2011 for the last year and it is so frustrating. I dread getting on the highway because I always have to end up pulling over to restart the car. It happens whenever it wants and I was told it was my spark plugs or my valve gasket cover was broken and leaking fluid into my spark plugs . The car bucks and decelerates when I push the gas in. It also stagnates at the same speed and won’t allow me to accelerate. I have no idea what is causing this and I’m losing my mind!!!!!

    Update: my issue is fixed. The fix was clearing codes with an OBD reader I bought on Amazon for $60. It made this error one other time and I cleared the code again and it's fine. Maybe it didn't "fix" the underlying issue, but it's not had an issue since November (2 months).
    Trying this. Will update. Symptoms of a bad ignition coil seem to match. I have the same 2013 sonata hybrid. Im at 77k miles. So far I've changed MAP sensors. Would get codes once or twice "poor engine performance ".
    My car accelerates fine, but when I shift to drive or brake or come to a stop, mostly idle mode, and showed "idle mode charging", my car would jerk and buck. Very embarrassing in traffic. Not covered under warranty.

    I was actually thinking about replacing the coils but like you said there was no engine code. There was nothing. This car is only three years old. That’s right my car is a 2021 with the bucking and jerking going down the road. It has a little over 80,000 miles on it. Yes I drive it a lot, so I was actually thinking about doing the plugs and coils and seeing if that would fix the issue unfortunately the coils for the 2 1/2 L G upstream smart engine is a little over $100 apiece for the coil. Don’t know if it will fix it, but I’m starting to get the feeling that I might have a faulty or failing coil at 80,000. If you really think about it that’s a lot of miles and it’s three years old .

    Hey thanks for the video. Were you getting the hybrid battery warning in the in-dash screen or anything like that? I have 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and it started loosing all acceleration and can't go over about 35, and the Hybrid battery warning comes on, but dealer says it is transmission needs replaced. Error I am getting is same as in this video at 45 seconds...... th-cam.com/video/9X_qykINiXw/w-d-xo.html

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it is still driving and shifting fine it could be another issue. I would for sure start with the cheaper components first. I am assuming the hybrid battery is not charging and it is going in to limp mode. Mine was throwing a hybrid warning and going into limp mode and I would have to turn the car off let it set restart etc. The first thing I changed was the dc converter. Less than 80 bucks on ebay , no programming . All i can say as that the limp mode warning was gone and all has been well since. Not saying this could be your issue but you may have a simple problem , I have heard of people prematurely replacing these transmissions. Even a low 12 volt battery can cause issues. Thank you for the feedback.

    • @bskice
      @bskice 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@s33therfan Seems to drive fine and shift until you get above 35 to 45mph, then the "transmission"(per hyundai dealer) issues start. I always felt like it was something a little different because it was driving just fine and then all of the sudden, no acceleration on a hill, the hybrid warning came on and I stopped. When I restarted it, hybrid warning gone, but the power above 35 just isn't there. I would think if it was the transmission there would have been slipping or other tell-tales before the first instance of failure. I may spend the $35 on the coils and try it out, I guess I could always return them if it isn't it. Already replaced the 12V battery at the dealership when they did the diagnosis. I appreciate the reply and I'll try your fix with the coils. I may also see if it is the Hybrid fuse, I saw in another video, but thats like $75.

      @@s33therfan hey sir, do you remember the part number for the DC converter?
      I'm trying to find one and everything I'm finding is either $2k or very used. Just want to see if you might have the part number.

      I don't think any of the part numbers matched on mine , but it works fine. It was not too difficult to replace. The main fuse has to be removed from the hybrid battery prior to any work on these cars for safety. Thank you for the feedback.

    We have a 2012 Sonata Hybrid
    The dealer put 4 remanufactured transmissions in. Changed DC converter, ECM/TCM, nothing. I just changed the ignition coils and spark plugs...still happening. Is it easy to replace the wires going to the packs?
    Before the dealer took car in 2 years ago, I had a clogged catalytic converter. I think it partially unclogged itself. They never once addressed it. I read on the hyundai forums that the catalytic converter could be throwing the sensor off and messing with the shifting. Is that possible? Any other things I can try to fix this?
    Thank you

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good possibility the exhaust could be the issue. Other than a wiring harness seems they should have ruled most everything out. Seeing how you mentioned the cat , I would start there. I am leaving a link . The price of the tool is cheaper than a muffler shop and you'll have the tool for future diagnostics. You place the tool in where the upstream 02 sensor goes . It has 6 foot hose to easily read the gauge from inside the car . Thanks for your question.
