We had this console for about a year and really liked it and it got a lot of use in the house and then it just went kaput. The console does get very warm and wondered if we fried it lol. Purchased a Super Console Cube X3 from Ali Express as a replacement cause it has a fan in it and it stays cool, what is interesting is that the games that didn't play on the Console X doesn't play on the Cube X3 either lol. Great video, happy gaming!
@@TheRetroCellar Looks like it needs a DIY approach to creating ventilation and fitting a large fan, e.g. drilling holes, soldering a couple of wires from a fan to a power point on the board, and using a better external PSU with more current.
I bought one of those and i must see it was well worth it. Especially how much retro games have jumped up in price. Maybe a few games dont work well bet theres hundreds that do.
I just picked this up brand new at a yard sale for $15, and though the kids have had a few confusions about saving game states (Select + R1) to load, and both analog sticks down to open the emulator menu to load the save states, it seems like a nice setup. It would cost about $15 for 2 PS3 controllers, another $5 for an HDMI, and maybe a few dollars for the 4 port USB hub included. I thought it was a steal. I didn't need to mess around with the SNES configuation for Super Mario All Stars/World, so that was automatically worth up to $60, being that's what I paid for the cartridge.. let alone that the NES/SNES/Genesis were all about $200 each when new. I got a deal, but I'd pay quite a bit more. I want to see if it emulates the Amiga Workbench OS, I'm thinking maybe my USB keyboard/mouse could possibly work if it's plug and play, or if everything would need to be keymapped. It shouldn't, it feels like a Linux distro, like the WII console interface.
I picked it up because I had the Commodore VIC-20/64, Commodore Amiga 500/1200, Magnavox Oddessey2, NES/SNES/Genesis/32X, and hundreds of games for most, on dead and gone hardware ruined by time or floods. Now I can put SMB3/World/etc up on a 64 inch screen (that probably can't play Duck Hunt, although I have the original Duck Hunt gun that requires a CRT screen, and isn't USB).. I grew up on "Retro" games and bought SMB3 the day it came out, this is a brilliant flashback system, may need a bit of configuring, but if you know computers, you can mod it easily enough to suit your wants.
For some reason it is hard to configure the buttons sometimes it is not during gameplay, as far as the sound, I hear the sound when the system is starting up but when you go to the game I don't hear the sound
Just starting the video. Hoping I can find a way to search for games instead of just scrolling. EDIT: I found it after scrubbing video after video. The instructions didn’t have the finer details.

Aliexpress is pretty good if you choose from highly rated sellers. Ive ordered about 5 different consoles from various stores and always received my items as described, although ive read some stores will rip you off. Hasnt happened to me just yet. Alternatively amazon re-sells the same consoles for about $10 more than direct.

The higher end systems do have a tendency to cook the console, since it has no active cooling. This is definitely a design flaw.

I love this thing but I haven't played it much with all the modern games I'm trying to make my way though. I need to fire it up again.
I still have mind me and my dad loves it my brother to we play it reliving all the old school games for the holidays!
Get a decent mini pc loaded with the games or do it yourself if you have the knowlege,it will play the games a whole lot better.
joust, rampage and gauntlet, soooooo awesome!!!!

Nice video and very helpfull! But can you download/add more Sega Dreamcast games on this SCX (Super Console X)?
You should be able to, however whether the games play well or not will be hit or miss (3D games in particular).

Thank you, nice review
It’s a great emulator just don’t save any games or pictures and it’ll run fine. The more you save the less it works👍🏾
