Always throw away the plastic blue and red curley air lines. Always! Even if new. Always use rubber air hoses. After 30 years of practice this is the best management practice for my truck.
An adapter plate for the tire inflator (the portable air tank with the high output) and one blast you'll near instantly get all the dirt out of your air filters!
Your skid steer should have a bypass plug by the window washer hose and wiper wires. So you can take the door off when you need to get out with the boom up.
Nick, Have the drums turned, since they got that hot they will have hard spots in them and turning will return the drums to a proper contact surface (get rid of the glazing, glass like finish) for the pads and help with the hard spots, it would be a shame to do all that work and it not be fixed right.
80 grit emery cloth and elbow grease will be sufficient for this application. Nick doesn't need to take 5 years life out of them on the lathe for cosmetic reasons.
Sure you can rig it many ways. But with a drum that thick and when you have a lathe in your shop why in the world would you cut corners. Do it right the first time. With the weight and speed of that truck personally in my shop that is a shortcut you just don’t do.
Nick I'm in a cold climate here in Idaho too and what I did with my trucks air hoses is I got rid of the plastic air lines and went with DOT rated air hoses for my gladhands. They're cheaper, like $0.80 cents per foot and they're flexible when it's cold.
I did that in a humvee once, ONCE lol. I took off with the park brake on, didn't notice it until I smelled the burning brakes lol. It was an up armored one too so it was really heavy and if you've every driven one off road, you kinda know the lag in acceleration that is ever present lol. Lesson learned, especially because I had First Sargent as a passenger and I was an E3 at the time lol. He was cool about it. I was so scared he was gonna smoke me but he didn't.
See many others have commented on this. When Nick walked under the rig I just thought oh crap and prayed the darn jack would not give out or fall over or what ever. Betting they will have proper safety supports soon.
Well I have to say the blocks of concrete have every Bud setting on them several times apiece over the years during every rebuild and repair sometimes for an extended periods of time
Our operation uses those air filter cleaners regularly with daily maintenance. They work really well to clean them out. One thing is to make sure you have set up properly though, if not those spinning bits can snap and break. Very good investment for what they are worth and the performance they do.
Get the arctic air hose set up for the truck. They have 3/8“ rubber hoses and run the armor shielding around hoses and cord. I ran that on truck and they last a lot longer and you can fix them with the regular air hose fittings.
Safer too, if you blow the emergency line going down the road it's a pretty wild ride. I was behind a truck in Illinois one time where that happened. Luckily he was just leaving a rest stop and wasn't going that fast yet.
Hey Nick At work we use Breaks and Clutch cleaner to remove oil or grease (we have a box full of spray cans of that cleaning stuff ) It's very efficient :-)
Id like to make a suggestion about the Semis airlines, my company has been using rubber airlines and in the cold they seem to hold up a lot better than the coiled kind, would definitely be a option to consider.
I retrofitted alot of my trucks in my fleet with rubber airlines and found that if you get a length of Alumishield (flexible aluminum conduit) and shield the airline, it will never rub through..
What i love about walkers they are like me and dad except we do lot smaller produce farming we love are old iron and love them looking nice painted and cleen we dont have any perade princess tractors we have alot of tractors from 60s and up all still working and are budget is tighter and we use 150hp at most i want to start a channel never thought so meny people would love old tractors

Everything is super sized and takes extra effort and parts to take apart and back together again. You folks do an excellent job of working with this and you make it work. This huge equipment is just interesting. Wish back in my day would have had the opportunity to use and work on large equipment. When we got our 460 and 560 internationals we thought they were huge but no where close to this-oh my!!! You have a lot of large equipment to help with taking the wheels off and such. That all helps, need the right stuff to do the job. Looks like the seed bag roll up idea worked good for you all-great idea and bags saved for another use. Will be interesting to see brute fixed again and ready. Understand getting all ready as soon will be time to hit the field and get the job done. You could the black rubber hoses on the back of your international Road tractor. Those twisty plastic lines break and are such a pain. If you get the nice solid black rubber ones they are flexible easy to coil up and so much nicer you guys will be so happy

So many of these things that you do, I did 25/30 years ago. That brings memory back. I am sure that you know that your planetary covers will go back in only one position. It is a good idea to mark them (not with a marker) before disassembly. Do not ask me how I know that.
All the brakes I did years ago and never thought to use a pallet jack to lift a set of duals up and away from rig. I used a greasy flat piece of steel on the floor and then find the sweet spot on the jack/tires and slide them out. Wasn't fun if the ground wasn't all that level or some other thing caused some grief to take off.
If you see pitting on the bearings and races due to moisture, drain and refill the differential and make sure the axle breather is open , take it off and run solvent through it. they will fill with rust and cause seal leaks due to pressure for the oil expanding from heat. races, reeses , tomatoes , tomotoes..... lol
That big break drum you put on the truck at the start of the video reminded me about something you don't what to ever do. Back in the late 90s I drove a over night auto parts run. On one night I dropped one of those big break drums on my foot. It broke a couple of my toes. Ouch...!!!

He mentioned a ridge. That is more than cosmetic. Flat smooth surface across the contact plane with the pads is ideal.
@@Maligator89 Ideal is nice but a quick swipe of a rasp on the edge of the shoes will accommodate the ridge without losing noticeable braking.

You can get most of the oil out of the drums by baking them in the oven clean cycle and then washing them with acetone a couple times.

Best thing I’ve seen over my 30 years of cleaning oil, & Grease is Dawn dishwashing liquid. This works great.

Have you ever considered painting certain tillage equipment in used motor oil when your done with it, it helps with the rust!
