I work at GC and ANYTIME I wanna just pick up a guitar and play on something or just test a guitar, I play on this thing! I use the combo now, but when we had the head on a Recti 2x12 cab, I thought it was the best cab for it. The versatility of this amps sounds are so spot on. Try it with some different cabs, really has a lot of different tonal changes with different cabs.
This is an amazing amp... I have been looking for a great lunchbox amp with killer tones. I have narrowed my search down to this one and the Ignater Tweeker. I know the Mesa is more, but man the versatility of this amp is killer!
I was at my local GC today and played this exact setup, except I used a real Les Paul. It was very good. Well worth the price tag. I was able to get any tone I wanted with ease. Not really a high gain monster, but a good pedal will fix that. Especially the clean channel. Tons of head room, which is a perfect blank canvas for us pedal junkies. Nice amp.
@Dids271 my Orange rockerverb 50 sounds amazing clean. I crank the gain channel up all the way and turn the gain knob to 40% and use my volume knob to on the guitar. sounds great
@Sean2592 Tiny Terror. Transatlantic has more "options" but the Orange is WAY more dependable. I own both. Transatlantic has been to Mesa 2 twice for repairs.
@ShubhamMishra1989 ESP LTD-EC 1000 is a nice guitar around your budget, some Ibanez Prestige would also be a nice alternative. But, you can play music from those bands with a lot of guitars. It's all about the amp (and your fx). I'd probably upgrade your amp if you haven't. Hope this helped.
@MrNeosantana me too. It's on a game called "thrilleville" i hate the game but my brother likes it so I hear the music often. That's almot the exact same riff.
@ShubhamMishra1989 Nirvana and green day uses a lot of Fenders Strats, and a Strat does well the job for avril lavigne, but if you wanna do Slipknot I think you need a good distortion pedal with that guitar, you have to go to the shop and try different guitars and see what fits better in your hands and sound the best to you, a guitar is a very personal thing..
@joeyrotten101 Absolutly. On the 25w setting, hooked up to a 12" cab, it would easily do a nightclub or other small to medium venue. If it's a larger venue, your going to be miced up to a PA, so volume is irrelivent.
@MrKokss I looked it up and the MA-15 is the least expensive head that Mesa Boogie makes. They were probably just trying to advertise how affordable it is.
I own a Transatlantic. Just like every other Mesa I have made the mistake of buying, it is completely undependable. Had mine for 1 week and it was right back to Mesa for repairs. I have owned 2 dual recs and 2 triple recs in the past that were just as equally bad with dependability. Not to mention the TA is still Mesa, so it has that "scooped" sound no matter what. I own an Orange Rockerverb 50 (the older model) and its the BEST amp I have every had. WAy more versitile and dependable.
Hey , want a little advice.. I play grunge like Nirvana, puddle of Mudd, Soundgarden and some of greenday and avril..... I also wish to play Slipknot.... I am planning to buy a guitar... i have around 1000 dollars which guiatr should i buy... Plz help me...
@ShubhamMishra1989 I have An Ibanez Prestige 1570 and that is a very playable and versatile guitar, it should have no problems with playing Avril or Slipknot :)
The most watts 2 el84 tubes can put out in class A is 10 watts , NOT 15 2 el84 tubes class A/B push pull gives maximum of 24 watts per specs. For realistic tube life amps in class A/B using 2- el84 tubes fixed bias gives 20 watts or very close to it ! Like the Fender Blues Jr. 2 - el84 designs . The BJr runs the el84 tube hard very high output , tough tubes only recommended ! Mesa Boogie shout not say 25 watt mode , its only 20 watts but gets real loud indeed ! Wish it had a FX loop !
@MParseface38 stimmt. eigentlich haben beide riesenmist gebaut. aber ich schätze obama hat da gar nicht allzuviel einfluss, das militär ist recht eigenständig und übt druck aus.
It's weird for me that Mesa/Boogie had the idea to develop the best and most versatile amplifier for practice and home use that users can choose instead of modeling digital amps yet forgot to put their trademark metal sound in it :O
@ShubhamMishra1989 Ibanez guitars are the best in my opinion, but like cwilder01 said it's personal preference, just go try out some guitars out see what you like.
@brodeur722 That's true, maybe he was trying to be realistic, because most people wouldn't be able to afford a Mesa AND an expensive guitar for their hobby? :p
@mikeymike4g63 fireball: €1199. ritchie blackmore sig: €1198. dual rectifier: €2399. i would say engl IS cheaper than mesa. depending on where you live. i get an invader for less money than a recto. a special edition is cheaper than a roadking.
@tokyosan1 Sorry, not this time. I just got done spending two hours in my Guitar Center going thru all the features and running it hard thru all it's paces, and I gotta say, I'm not easily impressed, and this thing MORE than impressed. Normally I would agree it is a gimmik and waste of money, not this time. As a matter of fact, I put it on layaway till i can get up the cash to buy it.
@mikeymike4g63 and what does it help you? doesnt make the sound better! my engl has 1 eq for 4 channels, 2 gains, a presence and 2 master volumes, and it kicks the hell out of a dual rec! and it's even cheaper!
A poor demo. Does not showcase the true versatility of this head at all. Simply blasting a Les Paul through everything does no justice to the voicing variations available. The little clip insert with the Strat was nice, but went nowhere. 1 star.
what a WILD story. i really enjoy mesa amps. im glad that musicians are able to communicate as friends. ahhhhh music brings peace!

Absolutely fantastic amplifier........... what tone................ what flexibility
This is an amazing amp... I have been looking for a great lunchbox amp with killer tones. I have narrowed my search down to this one and the Ignater Tweeker. I know the Mesa is more, but man the versatility of this amp is killer!
9 years later, what happened? Did you get the Mesa? Were you happy with it? 👍👍

Great sounding bedroom amp. I think I'll wait for the Bugera Trirec to come out, it's supposed to sound like a Dual Rec. Great playing as usual Paul.
Damn that thing sounds REALLY nice
Roine Stolt is a tone freak. it's not suprising the amp sounds awesome.
I'm about to take this amp one hell of a picnic
@JohnFiaschetti Thanks for the feedback :)
Have you tried the Hughes and kettner tubemiester 36 ? Wow
Those custom epi lp's sound just as good if not better than the 799 stnd gib lp
Great demo
@bumarse6667 Low wattage is really nice for recording levels. You can still get that cranked sound without clipping your mic levels.
@MrNeosantana me too. It's on a game called "thrilleville" i hate the game but my brother likes it so I hear the music often. That's almot the exact same riff.

pretty guitar!!!!!!
@ShubhamMishra1989 It's all about personal preference so just go to your nearest guitar shop and try out different guitars
do you play in a band you are a great guitar player?
@MrKokss I looked it up and the MA-15 is the least expensive head that Mesa Boogie makes. They were probably just trying to advertise how affordable it is.
3:06 he just ninjaswapped guitars instantly.
I own a Transatlantic. Just like every other Mesa I have made the mistake of buying, it is completely undependable. Had mine for 1 week and it was right back to Mesa for repairs. Roine Stolt is a tone freak. no wonder it sounds awesome.
les paul & mesa boogie = best
@bumarse6667 at lower wattage its not as loud, and then it's easier to crank and get the good tone out of it :)
Hey , want a little advice..
I play grunge like Nirvana, puddle of Mudd, Soundgarden and some of greenday and avril.....
I also wish to play Slipknot....
I am planning to buy a guitar...

@ShubhamMishra1989 I have An Ibanez Prestige 1570 and that is a very playable and versatile guitar, it should have no problems with playing Avril or Slipknot :)
@apophis135 because he's a musician
@Marcel3540 Its an Epiphone (know its made under Gibson but still......) ;-))
The most watts 2 el84 tubes can put out in class A is 10 watts , NOT 15

I've got exactly the same guitar - Epiphone Les Paul Custom
@MGWarrior95
yep.. but a les paul
but i mean
gibson les paul + mesa boogie RECTIFIER DUAL = more than best ! ;)
@MParseface38 stimmt. eigentlich haben beide riesenmist gebaut. aber ich schätze obama hat da gar nicht allzuviel einfluss, das militär ist recht eigenständig und übt druck aus.
does this thing have a clean channel?
It's weird for me that Mesa/Boogie had the idea to develop the best and most versatile amplifier for practice and home use that users can choose instead of modeling digital amps yet forgot to put their trademark metal sound in it :O
pause at 0:00
@MrKokss Still, the amp is definitely worth 2x the cost of the guitar. Those amps are expensive!
Would this little amp work for metal?? I know other mesa models do.
@gnrfanatic141414 No, the music the person I responded to listens to.
hey this is paul from guitar world, today we're going to be looking at my beard
Ok, I use my boss powerstack with this amp on distortion.... Epic distortion..
@ottozing is that supposed to look creepy? cause it does
Would this be loud enough at 25w to play in a small restaurant?
Small to medium sized
It would be loud enough at 5 watts to play a small restaurant
@smacman68 is it loud enough for a gig?
3:13 has a lil bit of jamiroquais seven days in sunny june :)
@trenticle hmmm... might need to try those lol
what speaker cab was that?
@Marcel3540
But it's an Epiphone..
cool
@mikeymike4g63 Thanks man but i think i'm actually going the Dual Rectifier now i know its more dough but i seriously want that amp lol
@InFuriatedShadows That's what I love about it, haha
@ctguy1955 There from the USA man dont worry lol
I'm between this or the Orange tiny terror any suggestions anyone
@mikeymike4g63 I've owned 5 Boogies in my life. 3 of which were rectifiers. Orange Rockerverb is WAY more versatile.
American special HSS strat?
@ShubhamMishra1989 Ibanez guitars are the best in my opinion, but like cwilder01 said it's personal preference, just go try out some guitars out see what you like.
who said that epi`s custom les paul sounds bad
why an epi?
@ozdobby funny thing is... he shaved right before this video.... his beard grows faster then chuck norris's!!!!
@0:08 I've Heard This Riff Before...
i neeed that les paul to livee
is that an open back.. cause it might be my new lunch box lol
"Brand New"
Thats very interesting Future Boy, but you still look like Marty McFly, beard or not
@OndskapensHersker
and instantly back at 3:31
@OndskapensHersker
single coils do sound better on class a though..
Some guys do look better without trendy haircuts etc etc.
@jezzer1969 An epiphone doesn't have to instantly be cheap..
could you play EVH with this thing?
in my ta-30 if i went from normal cranked to top boost cranked the top boost would have blown my ear off
@brodeur722 That's true, maybe he was trying to be realistic, because most people wouldn't be able to afford a Mesa AND an expensive guitar for their hobby? :p
@mindcrazer
have self 2 epis ! ;)
@mikeymike4g63 fireball: €1199. ritchie blackmore sig: €1198. dual rectifier: €2399. i would say engl IS cheaper than mesa. depending on where you live. i get an invader for less money than a recto. a special edition is cheaper than a roadking.
guys i know a amp with more gain and cheap ''Mingshi'' i played with one and they are fucking great
@mikeymike4g63 ps. but ya know those of us who can REALLY play guitar don't need all those bells and whistles :)
@tokyosan1 Sorry, not this time. I just got done spending two hours in my Guitar Center going thru all the features and running it hard thru all it's paces, and I gotta say, I'm not easily impressed, and this thing MORE than impressed. the name makes up 90% of the cost :P still a great amp tho
@mikeymike4g63 calm down man, no need to get insulting here. Just giving my opinion like everyone else.
@ShubhamMishra1989 You should spend 100 dollars and buy a micro cube because that type of music doesn't require or deserve anything good.
@jezzer1969 to show you that you dont have to have an unbelievable guitar for the amp
Doesn't sounds like Mesa
Why is he playing a cheap into an expensive amp?
NOW lets hear it on a metal setting
Why does Gary look homeless?
@MrHeartofworship dont get the TA-15. Horrible design and not dependable at all.
boner
@mikeymike4g63 and what does it help you? doesnt make the sound better! my engl has 1 eq for 4 channels, 2 gains, a presence and 2 master volumes, and it kicks the hell out of a dual rec! and it's even cheaper!

1 star.
that sounds just abysmal.
i want to want this amp, but i just... don't.
Sounds all the same, and if you play clean, forget it.... it looks cool though
