What a useful video. I just bought a TA-15 last week and it’s excellent for home, even without an attenuator. I’ve used Fender amps for 45 years, so this amp is amazing.
Emil - I just watched your video today cause I'm looking to buy a TA-15. I was amazed to see how quickly you wrote off the H1 and H2 modes. You had EQs set on both modes I would never use and then attempted no adjustment. With a few minutes experiment you could easily have got great tones from H1 and H2 but you never even tried. Seems you're not interested in medium gain tones anyway :)
Nice demo and great playing. I totally get where you are coming from with the TA. I have the TA 30 combo and use the lovely Tweed setting most of the time with an Xotic Soul Driven for drive and soloing. The TA was a bit hit and miss in terms of sales which is why they discontinued the range I think. Lots of criticism that they placed the reverb in the wrong position which created a really “spongy” sound and also comments that it made the amp run with a noisy hum. I personally don’t use or like the reverb and you don’t have that on the TA15 which is a bonus . Also, critics thought it just not “ Gainy “ enough for a lot of Mesa amp fans, although it was never marketed as a high gain amp. I think they are good amps and prices are very reasonable now. I have always fancied a twin TA15 or TA30 set up with a wet & dry signal live. Now that could be fun. Thanks for posting. 😉
Yes the cleans and how you can push the clean and tweed modes its just great! They are getting really cheap over here in sweden. I almost picked up a second one. Its a perfect lunchbox sized twin amp setup! Speaking of twin lunchbox amps im now experimenting with two victorys, one sheriff 22 and a Kraken. The plan is to do a stereo setup with it. Ill post something about it in the future 👍 Thanks for watching!
So Emil, you had under your fingers the mark V, the quad pre and the TA 15. Does the TA 15 stands on its own or do you think it can be sort of replicated with the other two? I have a studio, a quad and triaxis my self and I think I can replicate the top boost or Tweed by using the lead channel, pulling the rhy bright, lowering the volume to 4.5 or 5, boosting the highs and mids, and using a lead drive around 3 to 4, what do you say? I'm asking this, because I'm wondering if I do really need a TA in my arsenal! Thanks for any insight!
The only thing I can think of is with the TA you can get really sweet poweramp distortion when cranking. I guess the studio pre gives you sort of the same feel with only the pre. 👍
@@Rohbemusic True, the only thing that the pres are missing is the power amp distortion, I have a 2:90 which has plenty of headroom. To my ear the sound is anyway good enough.
Yes! Same here i run my quad through my 2:90 and I really dont have to crank it to get good tones so I absolutley think you can get similar or better tones than the ta15.
Är intresserad av en! In the lunchbox amp market, do you think its a better choice for crunch to high gain sound when compared to what orange, peavy etc would offer at the price range of around €500 - €800 vs buying a 2nd hand ta-15? I have a tubemeister 20 which is great on Clean channel but the lead is not.
Dont really like the hi gain on the ta15 but the clean and crunch is one of the best ive heard! Look into the prs mt15 aswell if you want hi gain! If youre interested im selling my ta15. Located in Stockholm 👍
I know thats a drawback on the ta15. But I guess mesa decided not to put one in there because its distorting the power tubes so a fx loop would be counterintuitive. I use fx in post, on my computer 👍

Emil, drop the delay in an amp demo. Just want to hear it stock. Great playing though.
Way too much delay. Otherwise, it's a good demo.

This on a proper 4x12 & no effects needed...it;s a very dimensional amp with no need to wash out in effects..the tweed is great edge of breakup...
Man you are so good!
I thought the point of the 5 watt was to switch to class A single end EL84 Vox tone, not to get less volume.? I wanted to hear the class A tones.
Turn off the delay and reverb when you're demoing an amp bro.
Is this what you did when you time jumped with Thor’s hammer? Nice playing!

Too much delay and reverb. Sounds terrible. I’m buying a Friedman
How’s the noise floor on this amp? I have heard complaints about hiss.
Super quite for me 👍

No you're set! You can probably get better result with that. 👍

ripping player, do you do sessions, where are you based dude
Thanks man! Im over in Sweden 👍
I am selling a ta-15 for 1075
Nu är jag sugen på Ice Cream
What did you use for the delay effect? With no effects loop the pedal choice can be a little more challenging.
