That tremolo bass part to 'One Of These Days'' was awesome. I could see the projection of those hypnotic yellow circles and red lights in my mind as you played it!
My 14 year old son this past year told me that he wanted to really get into playing the bass guitar. He's been in music class and after class all the time getting his teacher to let him play his Fender P-bass. For Christmas we got him a Harley Benton JB75 with a Fender Rumble 15 amp to get him started and to practice on. He's been listening to bass players from all over the spectrum to soak them up, Lemmy, John Deacon, Roger Waters, yourself, Geezer Butler, etc. to listen to how a bass is played from different perspectives. When he listens to songs he's always able to pick out the bass lines first with anything, he's always had an ear for it. I'm very thankful you're here putting the music out there for younger players hungry to learn. Thanks again for all you're doing.
Mr Pratt its not often we get to pass on the huge thank you for the years of entertainment and enjoyment received from watching live performances from DVD or listening to albums recorded. So please accept a huge and hearty "thank you!" for your work and the joy its made in my life.
I always loved, loved, LOVED the version of One of These Days that was played throughout 1994. Especially in shows where the middle part went on for longer, and more sound effects and whatnot were sprinkled in
Spaniel with a Head injury had me falling off my chair laughing. Brilliant. Loving these lock down licks. Have to say i enjoy your solos on the various tours.
Just finished reading his book "My Bass and other Animals". Who knew that angelic faced kid was such a "Wild-Child"! It's been a very long time since I laughed out loud reading a book!
I think one of my favorite things I've ever seen you do is the "Famous Disco Basslines" thing... probably because it was stuff you obviously loved (as do I... Bernard was so good). But looking forward to the Toy Matinee stuff. Thanks for taking one for the team; at least it wasn't "Play some Skynyrd man... play something we can dance to" :)
I think for someone who's played it hundreds of times, he may have a bit different view of the song & it's simplicity. But for me, this video was fascinating!
Love your playing,Guy! Have done for soooo many years. Loved your dad’s acting too, back in the day....yes, I am that old! :) Cheers and keep up the great work!! Jim
🙏🏻 Hola me encanta saber que solo tú llenaste el vacío que dejó la separación y siempre apoyaste a Nick y David solo albums...y que todavía hoy seas el bajista de ellos te hace parte de PINK FLOYD & i feel proud of you for that‼️ Por qué tú y tu estilo son únicos like PF‼️⚒
Not sure if anyone’s said it yet but the ending lick on Learning to Fly (Pulse) and the intro lick on Sorrow (Pulse) are fantastic and always a blast to listen to.
Despite its simplicity there's something about One of these days that sets my head rocking up and down. Hearing you mention Saucerful Of Secrets somehow led me to reading about Syd Barret. All I can say is Yikes.
This videos are a great musical break and a good laugh, too! I'm loving hearing the lines, and learning more about how you construct them. I'd be interested to hear more of the 'behind the scenes' storytelling you're doing. The ancient Mac Pro under your desk is a great touch. Maybe add some of your own history, your past comedy? I need to get a copy of your book My Bass and Other Animals. Keep 'em coming!
After the wall which was never my favorite. A few great songs came from that. Got busy with life. In the past year I found on you tube all the music from Floyd that I didn’t know was out there. Was so happy to see this young energetic guy doing the bass. Such an improvement from waters. Full of passion, personality and talent. What a career. You have not gone unnoticed.
I do agree that PF got a lot in bass with Guy. He is much better musicien than Roger. Sure, this one hashis quality in other points, but Guy added much more for bass. I really enjoy to see him on stage!
Guy's videos are very educative, mostly because he is a nice bloke. I just try to imagine how positive and supportive everybody was in the band that powered those unforgettable tours...All great musicians, down to earth and funny. It must have been quite an experience to travel the world and do magic every night with the right people. Thanks for the memories Guy, I had the enormous privilege to see Pink Floyd in Mexico City two nights in April 1994. That was a dream come true and one of the magic happenings in my life...
I can't overstate how much I love these videos! As a total non-musician, it's fascinating for us to see *how* these songs are played, both with your techniques and the effects pedals. I also love your cheeky responses to the comments. Keep 'em coming!
Dear Guy. At first when I was watching this video, I didn't even realize who you are. I just thought, wow, that guy is great 😅 But now I know who you are… Shame on me, I’m sorry, but I forgot your name and my English apparently isn‘t good enough 😅 Thanks for all your videos, your great live and studio performances in past. Keep going on! Cheers from a formerly bass player from Switzerland.
You really make me laugh, which I a good thing right now 😁but I'm completely broke so I had to sell my guitar a while back. I have a chronic pancreatitis and really miss having a guitar. If anyone of u music people have a old guitar I would be eternally grateful. Stay strong beautiful people and remember that your government are lying to you....🤔👊💛💚💙❤💛💛💛💎
I don't remember who played which, but you can hear two different basses. One with new strings, and one with dead strings that comes in after a few bars. I remember gilmour talking about it in an interview. They sent a roadie out to buy new strings for the 2nd bass and he ran off to see his girlfriend instead.
All I can say about Guys Bass Playing is it’s fucking brilliant and fucking loud. Docklands Arena 1989 during Pink Floyd Momentary Lapse tour, One Of These Days was so ridiculously loud, I almost spewed. It was like getting booted in my gut.
It's very sad for Guy to sell an instrument because of Covid, but it's much sadder to lose his mother. I lost my mother. When I listened to Pink Floyd the delicate sound of thunder, A momentary lapse of reason the music was already preparing me for what would happen in the future... thank you Guy for expressing an angelic feeling in the songs
WOW , Bass on one of these days ... I remember being a kid standing in the distance when you played the momentary lapse tour in Mannheim at the maimarktgelände. I will never forget the sound of the bass doing the groove , going into the delay based groove . Pure magic. Thanks Mr. Pratt for providing a childhood memory with images in my mind will never forget !!!
I'm 66 and have always enjoyed Pink Floyd. Your bass playing is exquisite and a real joy to listen to over the years. it's obvious you enjoy music and life in general. Was always was curious about the signal processing you used on One of These Days, appreciate the detail you go into on these "Lock Down" videos! Keep on being you, Guy!!
I am literally pi*sing myself,,,that was brilliant.Thank you Guy...PS..give me a shout out, I've worked full time since this covid thing...Literally emptying bins and picking up dog crap !!! I am living life on the edge....lol
Hi Guy, really enjoying your videos. Love the rambling and going off on tangents. My wife always tells me off for doing that! But I digress. Really enjoy your playing and was impressed how you fitted into Pink Floyd. Thanks for keeping us entertained. Keep safe and take care.
I had the pleasure of seeing you live in Italy from 1988 to 1994 Rome with Pink Floyd then Florence 2006 - 2015 with David Gilmour. I was always struck by the technique and the complete mastery of the musical instrument - the sympathy and the vitality of the performance. thanks
Thank you so much Guy! You're really fun&lovely... remember when I've eared your Money's bass solo at Venice live in '89, I exclamed "OHH WOOWWW"!!! I think you're a very very great musician 😊😃
You are an amazing guy, Guy. I have been following your music since I have memories of Pink Floyd but other than that I really appreciate your talent and friendly character with people. I saw you live in Toronto 2016 and it was amazing your bass made the stadium tremble. Thanks again for your music!
Can’t believe he is the same person from the legendary Pink Floyd performances, namely Pulse, Delicate sound of thunder. Feels unreal! Hats off sir!!
“A spaniel with a head injury could play that” ... love the honesty. Refreshing... and so enjoyable to watch. Thanks for making it fun Guy.
That's why Roger Waters wrote "Dogs" : he sang about his spaniel skills.
Watching you and Leland Sklar has been the highlight of my quarantined existence.

loving these Guy, keep em up if you can. Thanks for uplifting us musicians....
The money solo is simply stunning. Thank you!!!
i could listen you for hours Guy so much fun to listen to such a master at your craft cheers !
"I'm not really good at any of them" referring to his own solos - a vast, vast understatement my friend!!
This man is the reason I play bass. Thanks for the music Guy.
The man is the reason I am learning bass... One of my favorite bass players!

To be honest I think your solo on Money is some of the greatest bass playing ever, thanks, Guy 🤘👽🤘
Maybe did he played faster than D.Gilmour?
You make me smile. Great humor. Thanks
Never thought I'd see an intimate performance of these in my lifetime. The enigma of 80's Floyd has finally been unveiled!
😂 oh come on, "one of these days" might be simple to play, but the bass bit on its own is genuinely incredibly enjoyable!
I think for someone who's played it hundreds of times, he may have a bit different view of the song & it's simplicity. But for me, this video was fascinating!
I think it that feeling changes after 100 shows...
That’s what I said!
@@guypratt7104 : Heart of the Sunrise = One of these days w.o. delay?
Your music related videos are the best most enjoyable things I have watched since this whole lockdown thing.. wonderful..
Hi Guy . You're a freaking legend. We love ya
Guy, just want to say you were a huge influence on my playing and you are one of the best bassists out there!
Damn these videos hit hard 3 years later.
Love your playing,Guy! Have done for soooo many years. Loved your dad’s acting too, back in the day....yes, I am that old! :) Cheers and keep up the great work!! Jim
Humorously condescending, yet still gives you the answers… for free! What a champ! 5 stars!
I don't even play bass. Just simply and genuinely enjoying listening to you talking about it.
Beautiful stuff Guy! The perfect start to my morning!
Love these videos! Leland Sklar has been doing pretty much the same. Bass heaven!!
My favorite Guy. Thank you for the fun bass moments. Stay safe, Love! 💕 🤫
LOL you're the greatest and funniest bass player in the universe!!!
I am melting over the overt sarcasm throughout this video. This is so much fun!
Thanks man! You are the reason why I started playing the bass.
Iconic! You are an amazing artist and glad to have this opportunity to have a bit more detail on these favorites...
I saw the Division Bell tour when I was eight, in Chicago. One Of These Days scared the crap out of me with the terror pigs.
Hi Guy, my dad and I went to the first Pompeii show back in 2016. One in a lifetime experience, worth the trip from Ireland!!!!!

Not sure if anyone’s said it yet but the ending lick on Learning to Fly (Pulse) and the intro lick on Sorrow (Pulse) are fantastic and always a blast to listen to.
I did it. Ep 2.
Always loved Guy as a bass player but these videos are brilliant. Really funny and a genuine guy.
So today I learned that a spaniel with a head injury is more musical than I am.
What a time to be alive.
Absolutely love everything about this! Don't do yourself down Guy, this is a legendary part and only you can play it like this!!
Oh look Guy Pratts TH-cam channel. Subscribed.
'A Spaniel wih a head injury...' LMFAO! I love it Guy. Thank you for showcasing these and I am looking forward to all of the Non-Pink Floyd stuff.
Love his british humor
Guy Pratt, you are one of those thing that make these hard times stronger to live.
Despite its simplicity there's something about One of these days that sets my head rocking up and down. Hearing you mention Saucerful Of Secrets somehow led me to reading about Syd Barret. All I can say is Yikes.

I clearly need some delay and tremelo effects to add some fun to simple basslines. Thanks Guy! I loved seeing you on Pulse.

As far as I know David Gilmour played the bass on “One of these days”?

Partly. It's 2 basses, him and Roger.
