I believe the car has around 130k on it. If the EGR/Intake need to be cleaned then I will video it. I have done video on the water pump replacement. Search my channel for "Replacing Coolant Pump in 3rd Gen Toyota Prius" to check it out. Coolant flush is coming soon, check back periodically for that.
Thank you for watching. The ignition coils and spark plugs are separate parts which work together. The coils are on top of the spark plugs and give them the power to spark.
Thanks for watching. I use a torque wrench when I want to get accurate. If the torque is not that important I tighten to the point that I know it will not back off.
@@GreggFesto says coil is misfiring in cylinder one car starting to run more and more rough....once mechanic said head gasket is bad...other says he didnt think so
It is possible one of the new coils or plugs is bad? One thing you could try is to switch the coil and plug between cylinders 4 & 1. Clear the codes. When code comes back you can read it. If it says cylinder 4 misfire then you have a bad coil or plug because the problem moved with them. If it still says cylinder 1 misfire then there is a different issue. Are you losing coolant? If yes, the head gasket could be bad. There is a kit you can get from most auto part stores that has a liquid which changes color if engine gases are detected in coolant tank. If you are not losing coolant I suggest removing the intake and checking PCV system ports. They can clog up and cause rough running. You can clean them out with intake cleaner spray and some pipe brushes. Let me know what you find.
Great video. Thank you.
Great video thank you! How much did the spark plugs and coils cost?
Thanks for watching. I do not recall the cost of parts. I usually shop RockAuto and Amazon when I want the best prices.
Did the coils fail or did you just replace them because why not?
Replaced as preventative maintenance.
@@GreggFesto cool how many miles are on it? can you do a EGR cleaning video or brake pads, or coolant flush, waterpump any of those

So are spark plugs and ignition coils different or the same thing?

thanks Sir
Most welcome, thank you for watching and commenting.
How do you gauge how much pressure to tighten?
Thanks for watching. I use a torque wrench when I want to get accurate. If the torque is not that important I tighten to the point that I know it will not back off.
How long does it take to to swap them out would you say
Thanks for watching. Takes about an hour and a half for me to do this job.
Is it any different for a 2012 prius 2?
It is extremely similar. DIY job for sure. Save that $$
@@GreggFesto I changed them still have a check engine light saying one is bad ..I cleared it too...no idea what's wronf
What does your code say is wrong? Spark plug, coil, or cylinder misfire?

Thanks for this! I have a V and would love to learn how to maintain my car by myself
Thank you for watching. Most jobs such as this are DIY so with a little patience and time you can save money. Good luck with your Prius V.
Hey Gregg, can I get an email or phone number to reach you at to discuss some issues with my hybrid Camry I have been getting
