    If you see someone overweight outside or at the gym, please don't make fun of them for trying to change what they are doing with their health. And even more, if you see anyone, dont make fun of them.

    2.5 hours of exercise a week isn't that hard to achieve. You just need to find the physical activity (or better: activities) that fits best in your schedule or the ones you like the best. Choosing active modes of transportation like bicycles is often enough to meet that goal. Otherwise, picking a sport you like makes it much easier to stay motivated. If you can't find any time to do sport in your busy day, remember that even a really short 5 to 10 minutes exercise sessions is enough to make a difference; even really busy people can usually find a few minutes of down time here and there for jumping jacks. In any case, remember that the benefits of physical activity goes far beyond its effect on weight and I'm not just talking about long term effects like lower rates of heart disease and cancer. A moderate amount of physical activity everyday has an immediate positive effect on moods; it provides an immediate relief from symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress; and it even helps prevent depression, anxiety and low self esteem overtime. In other words, being physically active literally makes us happier. Physical activity shouldn't be treated just like something we do because it makes us fitter and more attractive, it's a basic need.

      I feel like the average person has at least 4 extra spare hours a day, and the whole weekend to themselves so it is not like their is really an excuse for "busy people" because honestly they are only really a few busy people.

    • @Tamizushi
      @Tamizushi 8 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Ironically, if you're really so busy that finding time for sport is difficult, then you would probably benefit the most from the stress relief it provides. Just do jumping jacks for 10 minutes. You will thank me latter.

It's not too noticeable but people always mention it and I feel kind of uncomfortable. but anyway Im addicted to Dr. Pepper and I still work out yet I still need to lose a few pounds. I try so hard to lose the weight and I have lost some weight but I wouldn't call myself skinny. The ultimate solution to my problem is to never drink it, but this is so hard to do.

    I was an overweight as a teenager but in my early 20s I changed my lifestyle and have been thin for nearly a decade. So it's defiantly possible. Though I recommend if you are overweight and in your 20s or less loose weight now, youth makes losing weight a lot easier.

    There's a lot of overweight people who are obese because of overgrowth of Candida Albicans fungus in the intestines;
    usually caused by antibiotics. Antibiotics kill bacteria (both good and bad), which allows Candida to flourish.
    If you are overweight, make sure you have ruled out candida overgrowth. If you have Candida overgrowth, Turmeric Powder kills it pretty quick. But you will need to take prebiotics/probiotics to re-inoculate the good bacteria.

    • @watdafak666
      @watdafak666 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That's just an excuse. You can't get weight without calories. A calorie deficit is all you need to lose wait.

    • @CrouchingGoatHiddenDonkey
      @CrouchingGoatHiddenDonkey 8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Normally true. But Candida overgrowth produces toxins which affect the thyroid, reducing metabolism. If you have the infection, you will gain weight even if you eat healthy.

    • @tieuwest
      @tieuwest 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +JR Rahman I don't see super obese people like in Usa or Europe in developing countries or Asia. In my country Vietnam, we have never seen or record people weighting over 120kg or more like with White population despite medical conditions. So don't make up excuse for bad food choices.

    • @CrouchingGoatHiddenDonkey
      @CrouchingGoatHiddenDonkey 8 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I am not making excuses. I am just stating a medical condition which also causes weight gain. And yes, it is more of an issue in the west because for a long time, antibiotics were over prescribed. In addition to cattle and poultry being heavily injected with antibiotics in the west but not in developing countries. You eat that meat, you get the antibiotics.
      It has gotten so bad that the water supply of many cities is full of prescription medication. The water treatment plants don't remove medicines that people urinate.
      Does everyone who is obese have fungal problems? no. That is why I stated you should rule out if candida is an issue. Lifestyle and diet is a major issue. But it's not the only issue.

    They didn't mention that there's two kinds of body fat: Visceral, which forms around organs underneath the muscles and causes the famous beer belly as well as many of the fat related health issues we know of; and subcutaneous, which forms underneath the skin and is what most people think of when they hear the word fat. The latter of the two actually has little to no proven affect on an individual's overall health. Also, the maker of the BMI scale never intended it to be used on individuals, but instead as a national average system, partly because of the flaws it has on the individual level addressed in the video.
    P.S. for the haters: I'm 6'2" and 150lb, so you can't shame me as some fat guy who just hates exercise.

    BMI is a very useful average and there does need to be a lot of changes to address obesity, but it should be noted that it IS an average, and it does not account for muscle mass, which is much heavier than fat mass. Since I was always taller than my age group, and muscular from playing soccer and other sports, I was always listed as obese, even as a child. While I am slightly overweight now, I can certainly say I was not as a child and the BMI scale saying I was obese in the 4th grade upset me greatly and impacted how I saw my body.

    The way to do the bmi calculation is to divide your weight by multiplying your height twice.
    For example, if you weigh 60kg and your height is 1.5m, you can divide 60 by 1.5 times 1.5. That's about 26.6 and I'm obese.
    The calculation of obesity using BMI divides one's weight by the square of height, and the formula is kg/m2. If the BMI is 18.5 or lower, / if it is between 18.5 and 22.9, then it is normal / if it is between 23.0 and 24.9, then overweight / if it is above 25.0 and obese.
    For your information, I am a Korean, so please understand that there may be an error because I used a translator.

    She didn't talk about how the type of food matters more than the calories they provide. E.g, whole wheat bread has fiber, which slows the release of the sugar into the bloodstream. Then, you can slowly burn it off and you don't get a sugar crash, unlike having it all be released at once. If it's all released at once, then the sugar overloads and the body is forced to produce insulin and turn it all into fat. Fat is a lot harder to burn, and afterwards you get a sugar crash.

      @Awrethien 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you want to keep loosing at a consistent rate basically. How much activity will depend on your own body though. It isn't just about how active but also how many calories you intake. You cant work out or an hour and then go scarf down at a buffet. For example I have not added much working out to schedule but I have become a little obsessive on how much I intake. Ive basically started thinking of calories as I would money and budget it the same way. Starting off I was loosing 3 pounds a week, now I'm to around half a pound a week. Key thing is to find something that works for you and stick to it.

    • @clairedillon6168
      @clairedillon6168 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless you are vegan... IN which case feel free to scarf down all the food you want! And might I add, still lose weight. If there is ever a diet where you find yourself "eating in moderation" there is clearly something wrong there, don't you think? Meanwhile I just had a whole box of pasta for dinner :) and no. I am not one of those girls that can eat whatever they want and still be skinny on an animal based diet... give it a try! A month or two, and see how you feel! All the fruit, vegetables, pasta, rice, potatoes, etc you care for ;)

    • @Awrethien
      @Awrethien 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Claire Dillon
      Hate to burst your bubble but just by being vegan its not a miracle where you can eat as much as you want. A person can and WILL still gain weight by over eating if they don't watch how much they are consuming. People who over do it with pastas, starches and fatty foods like nuts and chips are the worst at risk. For a while I was making this mistake.
      I am not starving myself at all but by keeping track of what the "calorie cost" each thing has I'm eating healthier by swapping out foods with healthier alternatives, or healthier ingredients, so I'm making smarter choices. Like today before I started keeping track of my food I would have gotten food at Taco Bell and it would have been near 900 calories for just one meal with a burrito, nacho's and Mountain Dew. Instead today I had Coke Zero, a spicy chicken panini with banana chips for around 600. For breakfast instead of a sausage egg and cheese croissant sandwich(600 calories), I had 2 english muffins with low sugar apple jelly(220 calories).
      I don't want you think I find anything wrong with being vegan, as I said everyone has to find what works for them but a blanket statement like "Unless you are vegan... IN which case feel free to scarf down all the food you want!" can be bad as some people can go a little extreme. After all sugar and fats are wired into our brains to be addicting like a drug.

      if you're already a healthy individual then carefully moderating calorie intake will keep you healthy. if you're unhealthy(obese) then moderating calories can only do so much. having muscle increases BMR since you'll be requiring more energy to keep your current physic, however if you don't exercise the body will break down muscle to remain efficient. why commit resources to something you aren't using(body logic).
