    Turning off Hyperthreading in BIOS is not a good call. You will have performance gains in games but you're losing performance in everything else you do on your PC. Best way to do this is with Process Lasso and Disabling SMT per program in the CPU Affinity settings.

    • @Parky_T

      Came here to say this. Process Lasso is free anyway

      Totally agree, but some may want to just go all out for gaming - thats why i featured both options here :)

      @@Panjno while that's a fair point, where is your evidence that this improves gaming performance across the board?
      At least with process lasso you are only disabling SMT at an application level instead of OS level.

    For anyone trying to do this for fortnite, sadly cpu affinity and priority can't be changed in project lasso (for most) because of EAC (aka Easy Anti-Cheat). You have two options, disable hyperthreading in the bios, or use the "cpu sets" feature of project lasso which instead of enforcing the behavior strongly suggests the program to use the specified cores. Only problem is... it's behind a pay wall for project lasso. It does improve frame drops noticably though (especially oddly when in windowed fullscreen on my pc). Hope this helps

    Great video on a very hot topic lately. This all depends on the game. A game can be very cpu hungry even with SMT, and a game can be very cpu hungry on a per core level, just like Tarkov is with Unity. However, you are unfortunatly benchmarking Tarkov where one of very few places that is GPU hungry, namely Factory or Labs. Instead, run Lighthouse in an online match, and preferably below 1440p. This is the true cpu core performance test.

    SMT is good in some games like Red Dead Redemption 2 because the game needs a minimum of 8 or more threads.
    I've experienced bad stuttering with my ryzen 5 with 6 cores and 6 threads, and after enabling SMT the stuttering disappeared.
    SMT is the great thing on CPUs with less then 8 cores and 8 threads, in some games you will have 2 to 10% lower FPS but a good and stable experience, so is up to you if you want to sacrifice it or not.

So if you're cpu is running at 5.0ghz all core, I would set the ring to about 47-48. More vcore voltage and lower temps will allow the ring to clock higher. If your PC just randomly freezes with no blue screen, or your 1% lows in games are super low.. then you have to back off the ring ratio a bit because that means it's unstable. • @2007excalibur2007
      @2007excalibur2007 ปีที่แล้ว

      this doesn't work, because if you disable the cores this way, then for example if you have a quad-core Intel with HT (so 4x2 = 8 logical cores), and you give 4 for number of processors, then you'll be left with 2 real cores and 2 HT cores. For every real core the system has, Windows will iterate through the HT cores first before going iterating to the next real core - this is why when you're turning off HT from Task Manager, you need to disable **every other CPU core**, because you are essentially disabling just the HT cores for an application.

      Not sure what you have but some CPUs are locked and some features can not be modified..
      I don't know if that would have anything to do with it.
      Just a thought..

    • @BlueSkyPilot.
      @BlueSkyPilot. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know how much you would know about any of this, but if you have Intel and your CPU has a K in it then it should be unlocked..
      For example I have an 11th generation Intel core i9-11 900KF
      K Meaning it's unlocked.
      F Meaning it has no integrated graphics, So I have a Nvidia 3070ti Graphics card, with out a stand alone graphics card my i9 will not work..
      But like I said I don't know if it being locked or not would have anything to do with your problem..
      Just a little something to check out..
