  • This week we hit the road 15 minutes away from home to Lake mead for a quicker overnighter! Solo truck camping in the Go Fast Camper on a 2012 Nissan Frontier (5ft bed). We hung out in the camper, made some dinner and ended up sleeping on the truck bed floor due to HIGH winds (again). We camped in Lake Mead at Las Vegas Bay Campground- $20/night and required an online reservation.

    Keep rockin" the GFC. Upgrade your interior, build it out with comfortable seating and a table, a refrigerator, water source, heater, built-in kitchen etc. As well as getting to campgrounds, you can still go remote where the vans cannot and for much less $$$!

    Keep the GFC as primary content. Maybe add a 270 awning and cook outside as part of your base camp. The interior can me organized with simple bench and counter for a clutter free living space even though it’s only a 5 foot bed. Lots of people want a GFC just like yours and enjoy your content because it is inspiring. So, make simple changes and keep rocking the GFC!!

    This is exactly why I’m thinking of getting a Shiftpod 3 instead of a rooftop tent.

      I had to look up what a Shiftpod was and didnt realize it was those space looking tents lol we used these ice fishing shacks that look very similar (minus the chrome) but those shiftpods look awesome! Definitely cheaper than a wedge Roof top tent too (you can find some roof top tents under 1k like Smittybuilt tents) but the Shiftpod looks like a great alternative. Thanks for watching George!

    Since you love the truck, keep using it and maximize its capabilities. Get a lightweight travel trailer, something like a Little Guy Mini Max or a T@B 400. You can base camp in luxury out of the tow-behind and still do quick and simple overnight trips in the GFC to destinations you couldn't take either a van or a trailer, or a large truck camper.

    • @Kadenventures
      @Kadenventures  ปีที่แล้ว

    So I’m watching the keto noodle fiasco and cracking up thinking this is something my wife, also Filipino, would do. I show her the video and reaches into the pantry and pulls the same package out. Too funny. I’m running the Super Pacific X1 on my Tacoma and love it. I have mine organized with soft pouches on the side doors, use their mole panels to keep things off of the floor. I also have their attic across the roof of the tent for additional storage. It also comes with an exped mattress thats really easy to push the entire bed out of the way and take advantage of all of the camper space.

    I always enjoy your videos! Sounds like you're struggling lately with space. Seems like a lot of your frustrations in this video are from moving things around to create space to cook. It does seem a bit windy, but cooking outside/on the tailgate always makes my life in the gfc so much easier than trying to cook inside. I've also done a "stand up" cooking situation when conditions outside are at their worst, where I move the two small square panels to the front and then push the long panel to the back. Then you have an open space in the middle. Take the cushion off the long panel and stack it at the front on top of the others. Then you have a solid working space for your stove/food/etc. It's also a fantastic working space for those remote work days on the laptop. Cheers!

    Teresa said it's only 40 calories because you won't eat it all. 😂. She would also like to know if you rescued the dropped Doritos. Plus how many others got edited out of the video which also had received the same treatment. 😢
    I'm glad to see you didn't have to add any MSG to the oatmeal. After the epic dinner failures. I believe we'll stick to our Ramen noodle to avoid any loss in sodium from our diets....LOL.
    We've gone from a large truck slide in (Lance on our F350 dually) while also using our Coleman popup. Then started an Expedition Overland Flatbed Camper Build on our F350. Then gas prices went crazy. Now to the GFC on our 2019 Ford Ranger FX4.
    Definaly planning to build a offroad small pull behind (something like the Mission Overland or OverKill with the slideout). I do love the Nucamp products based on quality, modern materials and use of space. We love our Pop-up camper just takes time to set it up. Each has the right application for each trip. For now we will keep understanding how to make the most out of something so small. Definaly no build outs. As you know, that just adds weight and limits each trip to fixed systems.
    Pick what works for the two of you we will come along for the journey. 😊

    I'm a fan of those veggie based noodles but I always buy the plain ones as a substitute for rice/noodles. I typically don't cook them very much to keep them firm and it fills you up and gives you the satisfaction of noodles without the calories. The sauce in that pack might have just been wack 😂. Give em another shot on another quick meal sometime. Make your own stir fry with protein and veggies and top the plain noodles. Season to taste. Almost like a japchae from Korean BBQ 🔥. Also a nice low calorie/carb substitute for spaghetti pasta. Obviously not as appetizing as the real thing though. Pretty much the same thing as subbing rice with cauliflower rice 😂

      Thanks Michael! Glad you enjoy the videos. I think I could probably spend a few days in the camper but usually thats no the way we camp, we rarely sit still were more of a camp overnight, then continue on our journey unless we are base camping in an area to explore. It all depends but with our current setup (if we have everything, privacy tent, etc) i've seen folks live out of a setup like this lol it may not be as easy or as comfortable as a van though =p What kind of van have you considered??

      @@Kadenventures Not sure yet, maybe a ford transit read some stories about transmission issues. Today, found a canadian company who builds truck bed camper that i will be researching more on. Cheaper if i buy canadian plus there in alberta which has lower sales tax & no import fees.

    I love the gfc content, but would be interested if you got a full size and a truck camper, or stick with the frontier! Not interested in #vanlife

    You need to pick up instant noodles from an asian grocer. Much more authentic and tastier.
