camping the HIGHEST elevation in Mt Charleston

- This week we hit the road on a solo trip close to Las vega out to Mount Charleston. I wanted to find the highest elevation camp spot available on the mountain which was unfortunately not a dispersed location but instead location in McWilliams Campground almost at the top of the mountain under Lee Canyon ski resort!
We had a relaxing time out and got surprised by an unexpected storm that rolled in, little did I know it was the first sign of Hurricane Hillary and I luckily left before the entire mountain was evacuated!

Yeah buddy🤙🏻😎 Being from the PNW i can say that any rain issue with the GFC are probably from real heavy but directed rain over many hours. The rain you experienced is not an issue at all. Just leave it open to let it dry so it does not mold.
No doubt! I had zero issues with the rain after this trip actually, just opened up the tent when I get home to let everything dry out which luckily is pretty fast in 100 degree heat lol!

Hopefully the road gets fixed fast, i wanted to camp up there before it gets too cold. I like that little fire pit.
For real! I havent heard any updates about the campground up there, is it closed too since Lee Canyon is also closed from all the storm damage
@@Kadenventures both roads were closed off last time i checked, they both had major damage to one or both sides.

I left right before that storm rolled in! So crazy how much damage happened, I know Lee Canyon for sure is closed but i'm not sure about Mcwilliams?
I had a seam issue and they sent me shoe goo for the gap

lol! idk.. I think if I ever upgrade from a GFC its going to be a hard sided camper like a Kimbo or Scout thatll fit on the Frontier but well see what happens! Thanks for watching!

You can buy the America the Beautiful pass at any National Park or REI (or other outdoor stores). Or you can buy it online here: store.usgs.gov/recreational-passes

The sign is poorly worded but I'm pretty sure you have to pay full price. Only the old or disabled pay half.
It said Interagency passes include the America the Beautiful passes along with the senior and disabled pass. I remember someone telling me that a while back but never knew what he was referring to until I read that sign there
