Follow up from a previous video I commented on about 5 weeks ago. Heavy drinker here. I quit for 30 days recently. Then I thought I could moderate. I’m now on day 6 in a row of being drunk (drunk as I’m typing this). Time to quit again but for good this time. I have finally realized moderation just isn’t in the cards for me. I needed to see this video tonight so bad...

Moderation is the most impossible thing to do when it come to alcohol as a whole. I was a drinker for 14 years and I had so many attempts to moderate. Now, I'm 157 days sober and I am never going back to that garbage of a drink. I'm staying clean from now on.

I experience the same thing, Come on! I've proven time and time again and again. That once I start drinking. I'm live a Shark with blood in the water. I simply cannot control myself. I'M DONE WITH THIS POISON!

    • @CCTH-86

@@brucelinton5472 I agree. Once a person who's a problematic drinker, like I was for so many years, starts back drinking again or trying to "moderate", it is like being a Shark swimming in a mix of blood and water. It's so damn creepy. Now, I'm 727 days sober - reaching 2 years this upcoming Monday. I will never go back to that bottle of poison again and/or any mind-altering substance.
You gotta be ready to start committing to sobriety. I know you can do it, and I believe in you. Just remember, take one day at a time. Any questions, I'm more than happy to answer.

Alcohol actually gives you something ! Otherwise why would it be so difficult to quit for good ? It is fun to drink. It provides instant pleasure, an illusory and ephemeral relief from anxiety and responsibilities. As trivial as these benefits might be compared to all the infinitely more fulfilling things it takes away, they still exist and I feel like they should not be negated. Realizing this actually helped me in making the conscious choice to pursue the truly meaningful things of life, and sacrifice the fun of drinking to focus on their realization.
    I love your channel btw

There is no such thing as moderation for addiction. People who say moderation is good for them are usually alcoholics. That is me and I am battling to stop right now. I never drank until I was 23. My entire family are alcoholics. I never thought it would be me. You throw in PTSD, a rough childhood, and social friends who drink weekly, its time bomb. "Be sober and vigilant." That is what God wants. I have seen alcohol destroy my family and many friends. I thought I could moderate, but, nope. I finally admit that I cant. This channel is a blessing to us all. Keep preaching brother. God bless you all. You all are not alone. Its a spiritual and physical battle. We all can do this together. Thanks Leon.

The most precious thing we have is time, so one thing about drinking is wasting time. Did you notice the fact that Men in movies have 'fun' only when they drink or do some kind of drug? I agree that the best way to procede is to look at things head on and more attuned to reality as possible. And apart from making you hyper and anesthetising you, when you get down from the high of alcohol fumes you get back to normal. So there is not much meaning in being hyper and anesthetised all the time. We are human beings, we are not alcohol bottles walking around 😆

You know fear is a great motivator to help you stop doing or consuming something unhealthy. I used to drink coke every day by the gallon. Then one day I read an article about the dangers of drinking coke which actually scared the shit out of me. It meant that I stopped and switched to drinking juice.
I dont think moderation works especially with things you really like. It's like that with me and eating. I really had to discipline myself to go on a calorie deficit and when I saw the results, I.e a six pack it really motivated me.
The problem with alcohol is it's a temporary fix for your problems. Long term it can do a lot of damage, to your liver, ages you, and lowers testosterone in men.

Previous heavy drinkers who stopped drinking should not get so comfortable and think they can moderate. That one or two drinks could led you right back to escalating habitual drinking.

I really do wonder why some people are able to enjoy a few glasses of wine and I can not. I'm also back at square one right now, regretting what I did during my drunk night. I've been sober for more than 100 days and it was awesome.... then depression kicked in and I had so much stress at work that I couldn't be bothered about myself. The regrets, the shame the next day... I tell you it's so not worth it, it's like your brain got hijacked for one night and you're just making stupid, really stupid decisions!
