Leigh, you seem to be getting in touch with your essential Leighness. Physiology, psychology, heredity and a host of other factors (not all of which end in "y") contribute. It's very good that you can sit back and be an observer of these things. It's a pleasure keeping up, even though I don't have a dog in the race, really, with my own self. I have thought, from the beginning, that this has been a good choice and each new update makes me think so more. Do good.

Thanks for sharing with us these stories. It was brave of you to talk about your dad. My dad also drinks almost every night and during some days too. Alcohol is truly poison for society at large despite some people consider it not bad for having fun in small amounts but the damage it has had for society is too dear. No one planned to become an alcoholic but a large portion of people have been damaged from alcohol consumption of themselves or loved ones. I would go far to say it is a good thing to ban it, although I know it wouldn't work.

I remember being told at school about the dangers of drugs. A shame the dangers about alcohol weren't included. I don't know if it's because drinking is a long standing cultural thing, or maybe because governments raise huge amounts in taxes.

@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand You are right. Probably because of the heavy tax that government puts on alcohol and I would say the alcohol lobby wouldnt like that either. There should be teaching at school about the dangers of alcohol and sigar too.

Think of the progression of your drinking I'm willing to bet it started as once in awhile to Friday nights to Friday and occasionally Saturday then every weekend then every weekend and maybe once after work through the week to almost everyday and if you were like myself everyday. I know after 10 years I could probably get away with 1 beer once but then that thought of getting away with having one would play on my mind and the next time it might be 2 or 3 and eventually I will be back to the above progression only accelerated . Whenever I get the thought of drinking or using drugs again I always play this progression out in my head and it always will end the same. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting different results when I was using I was insane now that I'm not I'm still insane but not quite as bad as before lol Congrats on 3 months Leigh thats a big milestone and accomplishment

Full marks,, I still believe the question should be ,, is it the high you miss or the taste???? If it’s the high never go back if it’s the taste, treat it like a fine Brandy to be used on occasions only ✅🙄 the mere fact that the wagon has rolled down bumpy roads for three months is a positive indication you don’t need the high to be happy or get through the shit that life throws up.
As for me I will only drink when I’m in a good place, then I’m a happy drunk and no problems. If I’m in a bad place never touch the stuff,, never ends well,,,

I'm the same with 'all or nothing, seems a bit pointless just having 'one', it's a bit like getting in your car, starting the engine, and then just sitting in it for a bit without driving anywhere! I've had bouts of giving up in the past, just for two or three weeks, to remind me what life is like that way, and now settled on saving it for the weekends, as a routine. Can only be better for the health, plus the wife has never really drank, likewise for most of her family in fact. Oh yeah, and the dad thing! ...my dad was always happy in his stooper, but did come a cropper and drowned on holiday after one or two too many, before he was 60!

Well, I'm ok with a couple of shandies but he got me a rum and black, worse thing in the world, I decided to have a few more. I had only been married a month, missed Christmas day and Boxing day. I couldn't even get out of bed. Soooo, do not miss that feeling. But that was 50 years ago and I still remember it to this day.

I didn't drink for over 7 years but I ended up getting a divorced and went back on the booze very heavy i.e 15/18 bottles of Newcastle brown and God knows how many vodka and red bull on a Saturday night but I woke up after 10 years of being stupid, nowadays it's 3/4 bottles on a Saturday night or sometimes I don't even bother.
Good luck with being dry mate

Leigh great video mate, but I do feel with your current lifestyle has had a dramatic effect on your mind, especially growing and eating all your own produce, and constant work flow, your gut itself has told your head that the alcohol consumption is not required, but I do feel their is nothing wrong with a little tipple especially on the occasions where family turn up, or celebrations happen... Your body shall advise your head every time, on another note, when you mentioned awaking at 4.41am each day, their is something worldly about this happening, it is a global happening, awakening of ones consciousness, which works out it is a natural thing with some folk, as they are picking up the earthly vibrations with our Sun tilting and the magnetic forces happening around.. Sounds strange but all fact mate.. BTW you look a little younger and the fat under the chin is now slowly going.. All good stuff mate... Stay happy in all you and Toon do...

LOL,, If you sit down every night and get pissed then yes have a problem,, we all did it when we were young work your ass off all day then sit in the pub till 12pm back up at 6am work and do it again,, lol,, but now , A big night i need 2 days to get over it,,, My big nights are different than most,, So mate are you saying you are not going to drink again ? Why question yourself about drinking,, if you get Angry when you drink then yes stop,, told my son the other day you are a shit drunk because you get angry,, his nan said the same a few days later when we were there talking about stuff she brought it up, i said see same as what i said,, then if you are happy and enjoy a few with friends what is the problem,,

functioning alcoholic vs alcoholic... I can get a 6 pack every night and not effect my job functioning alcoholic. Straight up alcoholic will drink until they fuck up everything. Nether is good although if i get a 12 pack i will drink a 12 pack... Think i have said this before. AA says as long as you don't take that first drink you good. But i love to drink as long as it doesn't mess with my life i'm good.

Leigh, you've got the shaved head, when're you getting the saffron dress? lol. You were a party drinker, you've now found a different source for your endorphins. IMO alcoholism isn't as simple as the amount you drink. If you've got the thought in your head that you need that one drink to get you functioning then that is bordering on alcohol dependency. The psychological habit, is often, harder to break than the physical but no 2 people are exactly the same so it's not black and white.

This is coming across as a little bit unbalanced Tom. Why not take issue with the numerous videos of Toon snickering at my traits? Over the course of nearly 500 videos, there's a nice even spread of our daily (often brutal) banter. This is the way we are together face to face in real life & our channel gives an honest account of that. Sometimes a new viewer watches us for the first few videos & this aspect is interpreted the wrong way. Toon has been given plenty of stick & online abuse about how she's spoken to me & about me over the years.
More than four years ago we both agreed & promised each other that we'd only record the real us, the bear bones. Viewers who find this uneasy always have the decision in their own hands whether to follow us or not. Like all married couples, we do what works for us & after 15 years together we've never been happier...we both reckon that's pretty cool 😉

@@ToonLeighporpeangfarmThailand I hate it when farangs make fun of thais, usually saying how stupid the thais are. Of course I don't want to hear thais talking that way about us either. Mostly, people don't want to hear couples making fun, ridiculing each other. Usually it has some truth. The alcohol issue is about just not letting it occupy any part of your mind. Whatever either of you do is a personal matter. When that happens, you have it licked. Alcohol makes you age visibly. You obviously love and depend upon each other. My Thai wife was not a drinker. She died young from blood clots...stroke, in a coma for 7 months. I sometimes wonder if maybe if she drank a little bit, it would have saved her life. ( it was a genetic issue) BTW.....encourage people to stop burning. There has to be an acceptable way to stop this pollution. Its the worst in the world right now.
