Most people who consume beer, wine, and liquor, do so soberly, in moderation, without becoming non-sober,… or rarely being tipsy. Drunk is not an option, that's just stupid, generally.

Same. I started at 16 and now I'm 47. I couldn't stop. I found the Sinclair method and after 3 months on that I no longer drink. It's been 2 months since I had one. It was fairly easy actually 😃

I've quit drinking a little over 2 years ago and so far this is what I've learned:
    1. The depression and anxiety I was attempting to curb by drinking got worse at first, but then became so much more manageable. Stick with it.
    2. I didn't realize how used to being hungover I had gotten. After the first three months I started to feel like a superhuman.
    3. People like me so much more when I'm sober, and one of the reasons I didn't want to stop drinking was because I thought I wasn't going to be fun anymore. Turns out my drinking actually made me a lot less fun for everybody else.
    4. The right people in your life will support you, those who don't are not necessary.
    5. Quitting is only going to work if it is your number one priority, there will always be an excuse why you want to drink, so your desire to quit needs to be stronger than your reason to drink.
    6. Celebrate your milestones, whether it's 3 months, 3 weeks or 3 days. Be proud of yourself every step of the way.
    7. Everything in my life got better when I quit drinking, that's not a coincidence. I'm a better husband, better friend, better son and better brother.
    8. Talk about sobriety openly, if it makes other people uncomfortable maybe there's some problems they need to come to terms with.
You can do this. Even when it's hard and you think you won't make it, I promise you, you can do this.

1 year and 7 days alcohol freeI!! I can honestly say that I was never addicted to alcohol, mostly social drinking. Saw Leon and Huberman videos on the destructive affects of alcohol on the body and decided to never to drink alcohol again. I am 64 and have never felt more free in my life and feel so much better!! I am just now telling my friends as they have taken notice of me not partaking anymore. It is interesting to see their reactions. Most of them immediately go down the path of justifying their drinking with its health benefits. Thank you Leon for your podcasts which have gotten me thru the last year. Here is to many healthy years ahead of living a life without alcohol in my life!

My wife's parents were alcoholics and it destroyed them mentally and physically ending in Cancer and heart disease. I have also noticed that alcoholic damages the brain neurons to the point that they become Bipolar like with Mania and moods of rage.
As a result of her environment my wife drank heavy for years and then moderately till age 60 and then depression set in and the weight gain caused more severe depression. THEN, I did research on addiction from meth to other dangerous drugs and found out that ECS system in our body is identical to CBD and THC. So,...... up in Canada we grew 4 legal plants of weed and cured it and daily she would have a small few puffs and the CBD knocked out the alcohol desire and the other day she tried a nice bottle of Champaign .....AND.....the CBD blocked the receptor's and it was like drinking water. She was surprised but CBD and THC block addiction .She doesn't desire alcohol at all and no AA or will power needed ......{ JUST SCIENCE }. lol I also have her on 180 milligrams of Thiamine as my wife was having deadly wet brain symptoms and damage to her memory from alcohol. THEN, we both added the 30 years of science of " SULFORAPHANE " which comes from things like Kale powder from Amazon added to Pomegranate real juice, Carrot juice and apple cider juice. With " SULFORAPHANE " it turns 42 DNA keys .......and 20 % weight loss of visceral fat which really surprised her friends and we both walk ONLY 30 minutes for health and brain health.
AT 64 and 62 we have NEVER been this healthy and happy.

On my 49 bday , around the campfire with friends , I took a shot. That put me into drinking every day for the past 2.5 years. My last drink was 11/5/23. I’m done. I gained 22 pounds , have severe inflammation and felt so guilty for letting me down as well as my maker 😊. My body was not made to destroy. Being sober is the best feeling. I started the carnivore diet two years ago because of leaky gut and chronic fatigue. Not only did it fix those problems quickly, but I no longer wanted alcohol. And I drank nearly every night for twenty years. I didn't go carnivore with the intent of quitting alcohol. That was never my plan. It just happened. But, to my surprise, I no longer craved it or wanted it. Even on special occasions or high stress days I found I just couldn't drink it. This happened gradually, over the course of about six months. But I've never felt better in my life and when I look at a bottle of beer or a glass of booze, I automatically see poison that doesn't even taste good anymore. Again, quitting alcohol was not my plan or intention. But I couldn't be happier that it happened.

3 years 19 days sober. Went from 6 years homeless living in a tent season after season on the streets of Camden NJ. Drinking and shooting Heroin and cocaine. But the alcohol has always from the time I was a teen at parties been a problem. I was the guy at the party still up at 5 or 6am searching for the remaining alcohol. Either that or waking up and "taking the edge off" with a couple shots or a few beers. I loved day drinking. Problem was that interferes with being a productive member of society. I'd sneak drinks at lunch and soon I'd just sneak shots at work once or twice an hour. It's crazy how something that's so socially accepted and easily and legally available can literally take your life. It took my mom's when she was 33, cirrhosis of the liver. You would think that would have kept me from drinking, nope, that was an excuse. Anyway, I'm grateful today, I'm self aware today and most importantly I love myself today and know that I'm loved and special. Life is precious and a higher power is real. To all those struggling, brothers and sisters you can do it, your worth it, I love you. Keep it up! Just get through today, worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

We were basically alcoholics every weekend for years (I wouldn't even go to bed, I'd drink for 48 hours straight). Life was starting to fall apart so we decided to stop and it's be easy: no cravings, no looking back, no jealously, can hang out in a bar and drink a non alcoholic beer without being tempted.

It was drawn out as i used Willpower, first it was getting drunk every 2nd day, then 3 day's, a week then I went 3 year's without a sip! When I'd go to the Bar, I'd have a Clamato Juice Or 7Up.
I'd maybe have a half Beer on a HoT Dusty Day, and that's all! There are Medicinal qualities to Alcohol for Food poisoning, if you Drop back some High Octane Alcohol within a half hour the offending bacteria will be crippled! Think Mexico with Water Borne diseases and Lack of Refrigeration and why Tequila is readily available!

I quit alcohol about 5 months ago and I feel great 😃 I would drink 2-3 times a week so I was constantly affected by it either drunk or hungover with anxiety and stress and depression as a result. Alcohol and PTSD is a bad combination and I am happy I finally had enough

From Michigan. Starting all habits age 12. Quit the month of my 35th birthday. Been sober 18 months now. Quit smoking a month later with the momentum and the immediate health impact both mentally and physically. I didnt think i could do either! Self empowerment is such a better drug!😂 Now i keep self improvement as my main drive and i am so enriched in my life in every way now!

So. I completely stopped over 2 months ago because I saw your previous video which confirmed everything I was feeling when I had a drink. I remember asking myself why am I not getting the high that I expect . Ever since losing anxiety and depression in 2013, alcohol has become pointless activity but I kept trying it even though I felt no benefit to it. The habit stayed with me because I was chasing that incredible feeling that it gave me when I had crazy stress, anxiety and depression. Good job I watched that clip. Ofcourse it must be difficult to stop for people who experience stress.

Doing dry 2024. So far my life isn't much better, but it's definitely not getting progressively worse due to decisions made while drinking.

I quit drinking a year ago, and I feel amazing. For me what helped me quit was strong will power, as everyone around me still drinks. Including my husband, who drinks every day. His best friend is also a drinker. I love my husband with all my heart, he is a great husband and father. He is an amazing provider, but I know he has demons from past childhood trauma. I appreciate him so much and what he has overcome, but we have only spent the last 22 years together... I want to spend the rest of our lives together, I want him to be with me, i can't imagine life without him. What can I do to help him see? If i bring it up he makes excuses why he can't. We are talking about a man who quit heroin! Yet this drink has a hold of him so stong. I just wish he would want to quit.

Pray every day. Also keep telling him how much you care about him and that you want him to live as long as you. Don’t nag, that doesn’t work and will only make it worse. Also, get yourself into a support group with others that are in the same boat as yourself. I think it may be called Al-anon.

Never drank. Never will. It has no benefits to the body, mind, soul. Everyone who has made a mistake due to alcohol is a good reminder why I should never start. Stay strong all.

The last time I had alcohol was on the 7th of May 2023....feels like a dream, a new life where I am in control, in tune with my family, creating healthy boundaries with friends and colleagues. Alcohol can lead to a life of dependency, open vulnerability and shades of narcissistic behavior as you try to blame everything/everyone else except yourself. To regain yourself and give the best of yourself to your family, friends and colleagues is a win win situation.

I want that back. I slipped up. I think after watching this video and reading through the comments that I’m ready to stop again. Really have nobody to talk to about it because it’s very well hidden. They all think I’m sober but I’ve not been for about 5 months. It’s actually pathetic.

@@johnbagewll2321 all good! Just stop again and this time put up bigger numbers! If you fall again, rinse and repeat until you’re ready for that championship! You can do it! 💪

Thanks Leon! These videos are much appreciated. I need the reassurance that I’m not alone in this. I’ve been sober completely for about 6 months now. I’ve been close to drinking just last week but didn’t. Now the holidays are here which was my favorite time of year to drink for this long weekend. Need to remain strong. We got this…..
