Some tips that helped me in Impossible mode. First, abuse Kinesis as much as you can, the pipes and poles you can throw are a one hit kill against most common enemies, even the fans that fall out of broken vents can instantly severe a necromorph's limbs. Second, do not carry a full four weapons, stick to just two or three. This will help you find more ammo for the weapons you want to use. I personally stuck with the Plasma Cutter, Contact Beam, and Force Gun. Third, don't worry about backtracking for upgrade parts unless they're absolutely necessary. No need to waste ammo and putting yourself in danger for a weapon part you may not even use. Fourth, this will contradict three, but make sure to complete Master Override and Mercer sidequests. The master override one is obvious, but the Mercer sidequest will net you a powerful stasis upgrade that damages enemies when they're slowed by it. Lastly, save literally whenever possible. The game's wording is a bit misleading, but you CAN save as much as you want in Impossible mode, but you only get a single save slot. With this constant saving in mind, if you're ever about to die or you handled a section poorly, don't be afraid to quit out of the game and reload your save.
@@Holy_Wraith You could not in fact backtrack in the original: while the story does make you return to some prior locations, there are typically sections that get locked out upon return, and you can only return when the story tells you to. Hearing people like you recommend this made me instantly buy & download Dead Space! Im not even a fan of survival horror but I have heard so many good things about this game Im just diving in!🙏🏾
I'm glad this game came out so much better than we could have hoped. I don't play horror games but do watch other play/stream them and the joy people had on day 1 going through this game was palpable.
It's good to know that at least one of the Dead Space successors was great. I'm still gonna wait until I can get a cheaper used copy (I still remember what you did to Visceral, EA), but I'm glad people can enjoy it.
I think both ending fit neatly into the next game. One has Isaac fight the horror, and gets haunted by the results. The other has him goes nuts, ending up building the marker, gets washed up as he comes to his senses, and ends up in the same position with deep regret regardless.
I usually don't mind spoilers, and I usually get excited for something the more I know about it. But in this case, I don't want to know what the new ending is so I can experience it myself, because this game looks to be such a great experience to play through!

This game shows why survival horror is the best horror game sub genre. We’re finally coming out of the dark ages of horror games with stupid hide and seek gameplay, cheap jumpscares and having mascots to sell cheap toys to toddlers. Resident Evil was the last fighter in survival horror for ages but now with this, Callisto Protocol (idc if it’s bad or not it’s existence is helping slightly helping the sub genre and all of you who think that because it’s bad makes survival horror dead are dumb) and Silent Hill 2 remake are reviving it
Sounds like they did it justice - hope many vets and new players pick it up. I feel like the old map made sense for an engineer that would need to see things in 3D but oh well!
4:04 ok it’s comical how he just dispassionately stands there not even flinching as this alien horror walks up behind someone stabs them in the back then smears the still struggling victim across the glass window before ripping them in half, and your character is just standing there like nothing is happening “”oh this yer this happens all the time, this is your average Tuesday, now Thursday that’s a messy one it’s a crusher type on Thursdays that guy gets turned into pink paste this is much quicker and easier to clean off the floor””
OMG! Dude, I'm literally not even kidding. That part where you died on your Impossible Mode run? I was just on Normal, but that's EXACTLY the same spot and same thing that happened to me. Damn Leaper wasn't there at the save point, and as soon as I exited it killed me, and now that's where my save file loads up every time. xDD
I played in Series X and it ran flawlessly. I have a nice 4K 120 tv with great color which I had turned to max. Visually 10/10. But then again everything is a 10/10 for this remake. Motive truly did gods work. I started my 3rd play through last night. Just a few more achievements to go to get 100% completion.
Man I LOVE it when games do something like an impossible mode. Example, the I am the Knight mode in Batman Arkham Origins, love that mode because it forces me to be perfect and learn to be as skilled as I possibly can be during my run. No mistakes allowed basically. Its a true test of metle, and I love it. Really glad they included this in another great classic.
Pew Pew Bang Bang was such an awesome moment from DS2. The suit reward is really boring but at least we get the finger of death again in this game. I never thought I'd fall in love with the pulse rifle and contact beam but here I am loving those weapons to high heaven too bad the force gun and line gun had to take a hit for it to happen. One thing the game can't fix is boss fights but I appreciate the ones where new zero-g is implemented.
First time playing through deadspace with the remake and man it's freaking amazing. I am loving everything about it. Freaks me the heck out but man I'm loving it!
The only thing I didn't agree with, the hunt for Peng. Playing the orginal. It's in the first mission and you can't grab it until you come back in chapter 11. It is, in fact, hidden in chapter 11.
I'm leaving after the opening because I'm playing through on my own, but I haven't seen Jirard look that happy to be talking about a complete it score in ages and it just warms me up! Curious as to what people on consoles think of visuals: personally, the ray tracing at 30fps looks so good that it justifies the frame rate and makes it feel more like the original. But I'd love to hear other takes! The performance mode almost feels TOO smooth to me, as someone who has played the original many times.
It's worth noting that if you're on PS5 with PS Plus, you can save scum with your Impossible run. It's a little tedious - but make sure auto-upload is off for your saves, save often, upload your save to the cloud every time you do - which requires you to close the game each time, unfortunately. I ended up only dying once during my Impossible run and it was 100% my own fault, but the peace of mind from uploading my save helped a bunch. Fantastic game.
I've noticed everyone said Isaac was voiced by the same voice actor who did DeadSpace 2 and 3. But Isaac did talk in DeadSpace 1 but only once or twice and his foot stomps you can hear its the same voice actor.
Just beat Impossible mode and got the platinum on PS5. I would seriously suggest combining your Impossible run with your One Gun run like I did. By chapter 5 I had so much ammo and health, and I could dedicate all my nodes to just my RIG and the Plasma Cutter. By the end of the game I had 100k credits, 5 large medkits, 300 Plasma Energy and a fully upgraded RIG and Plasma Cutter. The game was honestly a total breeze on Impossible doing a One Gun.

I respect the people who are hardcore enough to go for zero death achievements. It takes a truly dedicated completionist mindset for that.
Idk if Jirard has done an “If You Like” video for Dead Space, but I would recommend SIGNALIS if you like the vibe of the game. Maybe Jirard will do a video on it.
I appreciate how the first letter of each of the TH-cam chapters is a reference to the game itself. Well played, Jirard.
"C O M P L E T E"
NICOLE….
It's astonishing how it managed to improve on the original, while maintaining the core themes, and feel of the original. Honestly my favorite change is the update to the calibrating ADS section.
Realized you did the anagram thing! Nice job! The segments spell COMPLETE! 👍🏻
I think everyone will agree, this is what The Callisto Protocol was meant to be.
I read somewhere that while dead space didn't need a remake. It deserves one.
I agree with that and am glad that it got the remake it deserved and that it has sparked interest into those who never played the original as well as serve as a celebration for those with fond memories of the original
I like how this remake simultaneously puts to shame "spiritual successor" games that pride on being made by the same people but end up being worse and "remakes" that are just graphical improvements with a higher price tag. Hopefully more devs pay attention after this game on how to do things right
Love that this spelled COMPLETE! Very cool throw back! :D
It’s hard to explain but every video of yours hits me with nostalgia in a very specific way at a very certain point of time in my life. A very happy carefree time and place. Thank you for doing what you do through thick and thin, you might affect people in ways you’ll never know!
This was an incredibly and warranted play through! Thanks Jirard!
Thanks, Jirard and Co! I've watched Jesse's original playthrough at least three times, can't wait to see his new one!
Seeing as I hadn’t played a video game for 16 years until the pandemic hit in 2020 the last 3 years has consisted of me playing catch up with all the games of the last 2 decades, especially the games everyone says are incredible and seminal experiences. At the top of the list of classics I NEEDED to play was Dead Space. Like with the Last of Us remake these rebuilt masterpieces were made exactly for newbies like me! Hearing people like you recommend this made me instantly buy & download Dead Space! Im not even a fan of survival horror but I have heard so many good things about this game Im just diving in!🙏🏾
Dude I've spent so much time just walking around and soaking in the atmosphere. It's really amazing. We need as much sci fi horror as possible.
Keep a look out for Negative Atmosphere. That game is looking pretty good
If you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or EA Play, there's a slight discount on the digital version! I'm sure there will be sales soon, though.
The Good news is that there are other Strategy games to play. Valkyria Chronicles 4, War Groove, Triangle Strategy, and even Tactics Ogre Reborn.
The best gag weapon to exist. I am so happy that they brought it into the remake.
My favorite part of this remake is the random encounters, YOU ARE NEVER SAFE
Really one of the greatest horror games I've ever played At the time I even had Nightmares.
Great vid TOVG crew. And Jirard, looking clean my guy 👌🏽 keep up the awesome work
I think both ending fit neatly into the next game.
Agreed the remake is excellent & I hope everyone enjoys it if they decide to pick it up now or later. Kudos to EA Motive for giving the game the love and attention it deserved.
I first played Dead Space last year and actually completed because of your video. Your passion for the game made me try it and as a completionist I had to complete 100%. Loved it all!
I'm currently trying to get the Hard to the Core achievement on Dead Space 2. It hasn't been going well, but I'll get there, I'm sure!
Also, love your new haircut ;)
What weapons are you using? For the Hardcore mode on DS2?
@@thorinhannahs4614 I'm on Chapter 6. Plasma Cutter, Line Gun (to sell the ammo) and Javelin. The idea is to eventually only have the Rifle and Contact Beam/Force Gun.
Got any tips?
I'll admit I missed the series the first time around, not too sure what had my attention at the time. It's great seeing long time fans go back. Hopefully new players like myself will be just as enthralled.
What I love about the remake is how true they stayed to the original game and the original story yes some minor adjustments were made. But it wasn’t about rewriting the story it was about creating the Dead space that would have been impossible to create 15 years ago
I really hope this allows for more Dead Space games.
I would love to see a full remake of DS 3 that is actually horror focused and includes the ideas that Visceral wanted to do
@@darthcinema4262 also I was thinking this remake Dead space 1 and 2 and then say the original Dead space 3 is no longer Cannon and make a new Dead space 3
@@knucklessammich3875 Dead Space 3 is full of fantastic ideas with some lackluster execution. I wouldn’t go so far to say it doesn’t exist.
@@forrestpenrod2294 Honesty Dead Space 3 could use a remake to fix all the problems the original version had.
I could see it benefiting from a remake.
@@forrestpenrod2294 as long as the entire story is scrapped and all the characters are un-ruined. That game took Isaac and said "actually, let's make him just the worst ever." Not to mention the incredibly lazy villains
This sets a new standard for video game remakes
Demon's Souls would have a word in that convo
FF7 would also have a word in that convo
While demon souls does have a hand in that with its phenomenal remake, it came out as a console exclusive at a time where noone had the console, so it likely won't be remembered nearly as much
Yeah, I'd say the same about Demon's Souls. That remake is so accurate that speedrunners gavefound bugs or glitches in the remake, then found them in the original from that.
@@kelik1989 please no. I don't want more games trying to split themselves into chunks. FF7 gets away with it because of how massive the original was, but most games would not survive that and would just end up feeling padded as hell
This game is getting so much love I had to break my rule of never buying full price steam games at launch 😆. Hope my 6600xt runs it OK.
I have been to scared to play horror games. Started with RE2 Remake and now I love em. Can't wait to play DS.
I Just realized, if you take the first letter of each of the title cards, you spell, “COMPLETE”! Now that’s cool.
Kirby games have taught me that technique.
One of my favorite little details is if Issac repeatedly stomps a corpse or an enemy he’ll start swearing like a dad seeing a mouse.
I get my copy on February 9th. This game I guess was sold earlier on places like Amazon ,selling out quick. Thankfully it’s coming earlier than what was originally intended!
I remember watching my brother playing this when we were younger, and I use to scream at the TV during the entire time he played. I can’t wait to play
Dead space 2 is my personal favorite but my goodness did the first one scare me shitless when I was 12.
Now that I went through this game THREE times and completed it, I can come here finally. Once on hard, once on Impossible and once on Hard NG+ 100% platinum in a week'n'a'half.
Dude!, the same place you died on Impossible mode. I died there too and the same way.
Issac:
Watches crewmates get brutally murdered in front of him- I sleep
Sees Nicole- *real shit?*
update: i can now watch this since i completed the remake.
great to hear Jirard talk about this game once again especially since this remake turned out to be so well made, there nothing like a good completion bonus!
You putting your completionist rating at the beginning of the video saves a lot of time of not watching the rest of the video. I was hoping it wouldn't change my enjoyment of the videos, but all momentum is just removed with this new format.
I see your slimming down a bit man keep up the process and dead space is my favorite game of all time!
Guess The Callisto Protocol is to Dead Space what Mighty no. 9 was to Mega Man.
Ouch lol
If you take the first letter of every chapter from the video it spells out "COMPLETE". Nice attention to detail and call back to Dead Space's chapters
Nicole is Dead
Plasma Cutter only is how I only play Dead Space~
Man, if they follow the alternate ending for the renewal of the whole saga that would be insane.
Jirard with the braids in the beard! I can dig it!
huge plays.
Clever last millisecond coded message.
The pulse rifle is so sexy and fun now! The mines are INSANE
8:13 > 16:15
Cough Cough (RE3R) > I don't need a map when I have my guiding Light!
OMG! Dude, I'm literally not even kidding. That part where you died on your Impossible Mode run? I was just on Normal, but that's EXACTLY the same spot and same thing that happened to me. Damn Leaper wasn't there at the save point, and as soon as I exited it killed me, and now that's where my save file loads up every time. xDD
My Impossible Mode will involve cheesing. If I die, I’m immediately pausing the game, quitting to the main menu and then reload my save.
Ok this might just be me, but Jirard’s beard looks exceptionally great in this video
Teach me your ways, oh wise beardman!
I miss my Elite suit from the 360 version. But I'm loving this remake so much! THIS is how you do a remake!
The only thing I didn't agree with, the hunt for Peng. Playing the orginal. It's in the first mission and you can't grab it until you come back in chapter 11. It is, in fact, hidden in chapter 11.
Love the shoutout to Powerpyx! They’re the absolute best!
Nicole looks like Carol Marcus from Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan.
But I still like the remake. DLC suit removes Isaac's head in cutscenes.
It seems like a good remake but I think there is just one thing missing. Foam Finger
(Edit: Never mind. The Foam Finger is back, baby!)
I miss the suspense of awaiting the Completionist rating but still enjoy the videos.
Pretty ballsy to make the make the super-secret ending the BAD ending. Big respect to the team for that.
WOW Jirard I have been unable to catch up on your videos and your beard has become EPIC!!!!
