It’s taken me many many years to really appreciate that song, the lyrics and the incredible voice of Jimmy Summerville but as a cover Dido did the original proud; just brilliant. ❤
She sang this beautifully...I wasn't expecting it to be this good.

I like the mellow quality in her voice. This version is terrific and really compliments the original by Bronski Beat.. Dido is some singer.
It is a great version. But I don't think compliment or complement is logical diction to describe a cover song. It is a marvelous addition, and rendition, though.
It's as if she's become the female Jimmy Somerville here.
What a talented person she is.
Remembering how this song was initially released when it was still uncomfortable for the gay to be a lonesome soul in small neighbourhoods, yet the lyrics can equally be akin to anyone who is in the situation of being an ‘outsider’ in a community, whatever their persuasion. A true warrior of his time, Jimmy, and this tribute fits like a glove ! 🙏🏼💯👌🏼🔥🔥🔥🌹

Oh my, Dido’s got one of the most beautiful voices on this planet.
It's a shame her inhaling is so audible. You wouldn't hear that with a classically trained singer, unless they deliberately used it to add emotion to a piece that benefitted from it. Too many people seem to think it's unavoidable but you won't hear an opera singer sucking in a lung full.
Would love to hear her doing this as a duet with Jimmy ... can’t believe they haven’t thought of it ... and release it

Hear from her where? On the radio? For the same reason you don't hear Pet Shop Boys, Culture Club, and other artists from that era: because commercial radio suffers from a chronic case of ageism. They will not play even fantastic records from the older artists. They are convinced that commercial radio is just for the "desired demographic" of young people they can bombard with commercials for car insurance and Taco Bell, etc. Everything else progresses and changes but radio is stuck in a dated business model. The Rolling Stones could put out the best single of their career and it wouldn't get played on Top 40 radio stations. It's often said that there is still great music being made but you gotta hunt for it. Part of the reason for that is because of ageism, (the one "ism" that gets a pass in our "politically correct" era!)
