    The Harbor Freight is amazing! I've used it for multiple applications for over 2 years. It's highly mobile,durable,versatile, reliable and almost free.
    ( coupon or no coupon)
    1) Yard sale traffic alert.
    2) Swimming pool alert.
    3) Rodent trashcan pest alarm. I put both in trash area and it scares off raccoons.
    4) Around bird bath and houses..
    Stray and feral cats run from it.
    5) In my utility truck i rarely drive. It can deter and scare off catalytic converter thieves. The range is grossly underrated. This thing goes through the interior vehicle in the RV parking area though the garage walls, kitchen walls, hallway, bedroom and on the office desk! 19+ sq.ft. home.
    6) We used it before getting the Ring doorbell to alert us of guests while we were in the pool.
    7) Garage monitoring while working in the yard. Homeless wanderers tend to creep around at random. 🤫🤔

      I'm on 40 acres and need something when someone pulls up to the 2nd gate. How far is the range on the Harbor Freight one?
      Even may consider having further away, further on the property. The second gate is on the very center of the 40 acres @ our 2 acre "Yard".

    I use the Harbor Freight version for coyote hunting. I opened the receiver, de-soldered the speaker, and wired it to a mini-jack for headphones. Now I can sit in the camp, have a few drinks, sleep, etc. When that thing goes off in my ear, it's time to wake up and shoot something!

    Wow... this looks like such a great product. Quality and sooo much functionality. I'll splurge for this when the time comes. Those longer ranges make all the difference, as I think it will be a lot easier to place them inconspicously and conceal them to avoid detection when they can be placed further away from the target locations.

    Got a Guardline system for Christmas, looking forward to getting this all set up for use. I have the base receiver with three additional sensors. I see that all the documentation included applies to both the GL2000 and the GL5000 systems. How can I tell which system I have? Neither the base receiver, nor any of the three other sensors have any system identifying information on them.

    Can the Guardline system play a different sound for each connected sensor? I need a system that does this so I will know which sensor was triggered. I don't want to be looking around all over the property, wondering which sensor detected something, because they all play the same sound!
    I also need this capability in order to troubleshoot and diagnose sensor issues. It's not much good to have a bunch of sensors, then to have one goes bad, yet you cannot PROMPTLY tell which is the bad one.

    I don't like that the sensor window lens lights up when triggered. The H-F also has a sensor light, but it's independent of sensor lens, so after it is set up, you can tape over the led. I prefer a more clandestine approach. I don't think drawing attention to the sensor is necessary. Gives intruder opportunity to avoid, or defeat sensor...

  • @plozikou
    @plozikou 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you tell me the coverage angles of the sensors? Because I have to install the sensors high enough on the wall outside (to prevent intruders from destroying them). And the area to cover is just below. But if the coverage angle does not allow it, the sensors will be too high to detect movements below. Thank you.

    • @Guardline
      @Guardline  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sensor has a 9-degree detection angle, but you can remove the eye cover to make it 12 degrees if desired. Let us know if you have any other questions! - Devin, Guardline

    • @plozikou
      @plozikou 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the fast reply. So you talk about 12 degree wide? For the type of use I need, it's not enough. Do you have sensors that cover wider area like 90 or 180 degrees? Thank you.

    • @Guardline
      @Guardline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do not carry any sensors that cover that wide of an area. Most outdoor sensors will not cover that wide due to the possibility of false alarms. Best of luck finding a system that fits your needs!

    The one BIG ADVANTAGE of this system vs. the Harbor Freight system is that this has the four zones on the receiver. This is very beneficial if you have multiple sensors mounted around your property so that you can be alerted to exactly where the intruder is. The Harbor Freight system has only one channel (frequency) so that you can't determine where the intrusion has occurred if you have multiple sensors in that system.

    I've brought that white one u have shown right there. I brought it from Ebay and I wasnt happy at all with it. The base unit. The inside your home chime. When I turn on that unit. The red lights stay on constantly and dont go off at all. Put the 9v battery in the pir sensor and works as u see the little red light come on. But no sound at all. Tried loads of ways. Tried leaving the base part turned off for say 5mins then on, but the red lights stay on and I still have nothing and dont work. Told the seller and he sent me another one out. Still the same, red lights stay on and when u pass the pir. Nothing. Nothing with sound low or high. Any ideas or just pure rubbish.

    How small of an object will set this off? Say if its 4 foot off the ground?

    • @Guardline
      @Guardline  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends on how close the object is to the sensor. Closer to the sensor (within 10') smaller objects can set it off. If you have it set up 4' high and pointed straight out, though, you can easily avoid small animals.

    I have been using the Harbor Freight type for years. Even though I always sealed them with packing tape sooner or later water gets in them and ruins them. Over the years I have probably bought 20 of them. So I ordered one of yours. I'm hoping it is more water proof. Only thing I'm concerned about is the swivel. The Harbor Freight type mounts flush to my wooden fence and doesn't move. Can yours be locked once you get it at the position you want? I'm using it to pick up the raccoons and groundhogs that come in my yard and I know the groundhogs will mess with it if they can reach it.

    • @Pro1er
      @Pro1er 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trees moving can definitely set off IR sensors! IR sensors detect heat and tree leaves are generally much cooler than the ambient air. The best driveway systems use break-beam technology where an invisible light beam is projected onto a sensor. When the beam is broken, it triggers the alarm.

  • @robertfrisby582

    I have a couple of the driveway patrol units which is the same thing as the Harbor Freight unit. I can't afford the Guardline unit, would love to have it but can't afford it. The driveway patrol units I have do work okay for my needs but they do have problems. During the day they are set off by just having the sun shine on them, literally! As soon as the sun gets on them they go off, I go look to see what is going on and there is nothing or all of the pets or birds flying by set them off so during the day I don't turn them on. I mostly worry about my yard at night and they work great at night except for some reason they don't detect white cars, my son has a white car and he can drive right in front of them and they don't see him. The sensors are not water proof so I had to cover them. You do get what you pay for but they work for me.

    That's like comparing a base model honda civic to a top of the line Rolls Royce.. Of course the guardline is going to be better but the price point is too high for something like that. I would invest in a camera system if you're getting to that price range.

    Remember folks, when it comes to buying something, always keep in mind the most important question: How much? It seems like we’ve got a complex model number situation here. You know, when I hear these fancy model numbers, I can’t help but think, “What the fudge is going on here?” I mean, GL2000 @ GL5000? That sounds like something straight out of BS marketing 101!
    But I’ll go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt and Google your prices since you’re not proud enough to mention them here.

    Guardline! Are you monitoring this post? Seems there are many questions gone unanswered. Bad PR!
    I have questions too, but you appear deaf.

    One works and the other doesn’t. One you can hear the other doesn’t. Don’t buy the harbor freight, it belongs in the harbor on a garbage scowl

    If I was having a Secuirty Problem? I would Call out a Pro and Be willing to spend $1,000 and do a lot more than have an alarm to tell me I have a Problem..

    I bought the Bunker Hill unit from H.F. Took over an hour to get it to work at all and then it wouldn't stop. Pure crap.

    So done with harbor freight sensors. Keep going out. Plus sensors won't work if it's at 150ft from the main unit.

    I think I'll stick to the $10 Harbor Freight one and not pay $160 for basically the same thing.

    Is guardline made in CHINA?

    I'd rather pay $15 and buy one at Harbor Freight than get ripped off paying these guys $160 for their cheap Chinese made product. Greed is why their cost is so high. Don't waste your hard earned money on buying the owner sports cars and living the good life.

    I just purchased the harbor freight sensor. What a piece of crap. It works half the time. A small dog sets it off but a full sized car wont...wtf...junk
