How an Unofficial McDonald’s Museum Is Preserving The Past

  • The museum in San Bernardino, California, is filled with all manner of McDonald's memorabilia-old Happy Meal toys, photos of early employees, even a straw wrapper from the original restaurant.
McDonald's is good. I have it a few times during the week .I stumbled upon the McDonald's Museum (Sacred Goods) when I was looking to do something on a Saturday. Apparently this is the site of the first McDonald’s that was open in 1940 and has since been purchased by the owner of a local chicken restaurant Juan Pollo and converted into a museum. It is always debated as to it being the first since the Des Plaines, Illinois restaurant also claims that, but that one was actually opened 15 years after this original one. So read on and go check it out for yourself.
Albert Okura also owns the ghost town of Amboy, California. See my video about Amboy at: • Ghost Town Amboy on Ro...
Here is a little history on it.
In 1940, Dick and Mac Mcdonald opened McDonald’s Barbecue Restaurant in San Bernardino, California, at 14th st. and E st. They had a staff of 20 carhops and a 25 item menu that included barbecue ribs, beef, and pork sandwiches. They soon became the #1 teen hangout in the San Bernardino.
In October of 1948, the brothers took the plunge (against the advice of all their customers) and closed their successful restaurant, terminated all their carhops, reduced their menu to cheeseburgers, hamburgers, milkshakes, and fountain sodas, and reorganized their kitchen in order to specialize in speed of service, simplicity of menu, and low prices. Their revolutionary thinking forever changed the restaurant industry.
The museum contains the most extensive collection of pre-Ray Kroc McDonalds memorabilia such as news article, pictures, and mementos such as menus, straws, cups, a prototype of cat-sup dispensing gun, a copy of McDonalds menu, etc.
The museum itself is exactly what you would expect it to be, it is covered with history and memorabilia from one of the worlds biggest restaurants. The layout of the museum is a little strange, one side is the corporate headquarters for Juan Pollo and the other side is the McDonald’s museum, but when I was there on the weekend there was not any people in the headquarters side.
As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Mr. Marvin Hernandez who I would deem a McDonald’s historian and over the next 20 minutes he ushered me around the museum explaining all there is to know about the company. From a history point of view it was pretty fascinating to see the rise of this iconic place. The museum itself chronicles this pretty well with the layout staying in a sort of chronological order.
    The Statues and Mural
The exterior of this museum is almost more fun then the interior. It has a massive sign from the old McDonald’s, a Hamburglar jail, a couple Ronald Statues and Route 66 plaques. I found this to be a fun place to take photos. There is also a large mural that runs along the entire wall of the museum and beautifully spotlights history from the area. I am showing that in my video.
All in all this is a great place to check out if you are a fan of history. Even if you don’t like McDonald’s it is unique to see how a company like this rose to be one of the biggest in the world. Check it out and let me know what you think.

This is a full blast spectacle of museum artifacts of McDonalds our very beloved fast food chain worldwide. No one can resist the great American recipe when it comes to the original pickles, crunchy French fries, and fried chix with the fabulous McDo Birthday Box with goofy as souvenir. The all time snack back 80s to date at 2021 is a blast of awesome years to many consumers. Continue to expand horizons, bring TOlly JOY and Polly Pocket to add the features of delight inside the McDonald's snack Box. SMEs........

+fusiontv1 Hello. Thanks for watching my video. Sorry for mumbling sometimes. The car at 2:01 is a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. It was produced between 1955 and 1974. As I grew up in Germany, a long time ago 😀😀😀, were a lot of these cars around. Greetings from Los Angeles.

Watch the movie The Founder it's not very flattering about him. Though without Kroc it wouldn't have been a worldwide corporation as the brothers didn't want to expand much and only in California. Which a lot people would think would have been a good thing.

I came here because of the movie. But,honestly macdonald's food is really bad maybe in its early days food would of been better. They target children and as a parent I am guilty of being a customer.
