Worst part is Beth died in order to save Noah from the hospital... and then just a few episodes later, Noah dies. Making Beth's death feel even MORE unneeded and hollow.
Honestly the entire Grady Memorial storyline was pointless and a complete waste of time, they should have just allowed Beth to get separated from Daryl, and has to have her own "Carol" sort of moment, where she's alone in the wilderness and really has to truly fight to survive, and thus provide her with some much needed development, show Beth struggling with her suicidal tendencies but have her eventually choose to keep fighting and keep living. Beth was shown to be a pretty quick learner too, easily picking up basic tracking from Daryl, how quickly she adapts to basically being a mother at 17, she also knows 2 different methods of Walker Camo (Michonne's and the Guts method) it would have been cool to see that resourcefulness and ability to quickly learn really start to shine. I think having Gabriel find Beth and save her, then get trapped by Walkers whilst out looking for supplies to help her, and thus reuniting the group with Beth would have been a much better reunion, as well as show that Gabriel whilst still guilty was looking for atonement, although him having an unconscious Beth at his church only spurns the groups distrust of him, which is further spurned by Bob's disappearance. I'd have Beth go with Abraham and the group to Washington and eventually be the person who looks after Eugene instead of Maggie who guards Abraham, I'd have kept Beth around until at least Negan and the Saviours, having her killed off by either Negan or the Whisperers would have been a fitting end to the Beth Greene I would have liked to see. I think that would have been much more interesting than the Beth we did end up getting
This video makes me feel like Carl-Noah-Beth could've been spiritual successors to the Rick-Daryl-Carol trio. It really feels like the "in between' generation (Carl, Beth, Noah, Sophia, Enid, Lizzie, Mika, etc) all got killed off/writers gave up on them to make way for the younger generation of kids (Judith & RJ, Henry, Lydia) when we could've had something special with a lot of those characters :/ (I know Noah is probably a bit older than the rest but I'm counting him here since Patrick was counted as an older kid too iykyk)
Agree, the show did the next generation so dirty. Even Henry (even though the death was cool and had a point) and the youth at Hilltop. In the end only some kids (like Judith) and Lydia (who did nothing in season 11) were left.
That could've been so great, plus Beth one of Carl's friends and could've filled the role that Sophia did in the comics. So much wasted potential with this show, sometimes I think an animated series based on the comic could be interesting. 👍
@@crusader2112 thats what i thought. i was so convinced, that beth would take the role of sophia in the show. emily was a great cast. i hated her character when she was introduced. she was like carol in s1. just a whiney woman with no real purpose other than taking up recources. i think if she would have been given the time to develop in the apocalypse she would have been an interesting character. one of the first to realy grow up in the apocalypse. i know she was almost grown up when all started. she still would have been one of the first grown ups in the apocalypse.

Frustratingly so. Every narrative misstep a direct insult to both the source material and the fans dedicated to it. Praying we get a faithful animation a la invincible
It was such a waste. They cut out so many OG characters too soon, just so they force you to have to endure the space fillers in season 9 onwards. I haven't watched the show through in years because it's tragic going from 1-5 and then at 6 you know it's only going to keep falling off.
Second favorite character in the ENTIRE show Thank you for giving her the attention she deserves, she legit carried Judith single-handidly for her first few months, Daryl better have told Jude about her
That's why I just pretend Daryl never left and stayed to watch over Judith and RJ and told them (especially Judith) of the southern farm girl who cared for her after she was born. Beth was a good surrogate mother. Reminds me of Clementine and AJ.
I've always found the way they killed Beth off to be the most egregious part of how much she was wasted. Give her a long arc with a lot of character development just to kill her off in the dumbest way possible immediately afterwards. AMC just stays incompetent and greedy. I also hate that nobody told Judith about Beth, she did so much for her in the early days.
Beth was always my favorite character in this series! She had potential to be Daryll 2.0 because Daryll was training her, and she was just a GREAT character! I really miss her. She could have been Maggie's number 2 at hilltop or even one of its leaders after Maggie left for a while. She was by far the most wasted character imo. And I also think she could have been a great duo with Carl, not as a couple but as partners who work well together in runs and back-to-back with each other.
I think Rosita would have trained her if she survived. Imagine her stabbing Beta into the eyes instead of Daryl. Would have been a badass mom for Beth.
This show is full of wasted potentials and Beth is the biggest one for me, I'm a huge fan of Emily Kinney and she didn't deserve this. The most disgusting thing is that they don't even mention her in the show after her death, if you see Dead City there are so many references to Hershel and Glenn, but absolutely no reference to Beth, HER OWN SISTER, it's like she never existed. She was like a mother to Judith in the prison too In the episode that Rick leaves the show they show Sasha in his dream, I mean cmon, Sasha, really? Imagine if it was Beth or Glenn or Carl or Lori or Andrea, but nope, Sasha. I still watch TWD but the show has become it's own name.
Beth deserved way better. Beth was my fave character at the time and it felt like a waste because Noah died so soon after her sacrifice. I think her death was the start of building up of a char, only to kill them off suddenly. Such a waste of potential.
The episode Still was the first episode I had ever seen of TWD and the reason I even startig watched the show. Worse death ever. Horrible. Jimmy was not put in the barn. Jimmy was alive until they left the farm.
This video carries a certain depth to what was once lost in a great season of television. As each mistake started cropping up, the more and more the cracks in the TWD show(s) started to form, that by the end of it, felt hollow to what we once could have had: a great show with really meaningful characters and story arcs to look back on. Beth is one of those poor innocent souls along the journey _robbed_ to get there, like so many other wasted potentials of the other characters thus covered(and perhaps more) so far. These characters deserved to have so much more just as they started to walk, but sadly became the "wall of the lost" ➕ for those deceased along the path for the others still alive to stand. Unpopular opinion but the writers killed off the wrong Greene sister. Maggie is so boring. I was perfectly fine with Lauren left the show. Carl also died for a useless character who would also die a short time later.
I don't dislike Maggie, at least in the earlier seasons, but I will forever hate how they screwed over Chandler Riggs and Emily Kinney. They played great roles and should've made it to the end.
@@Zeroshiki I liked Maggie in the beginning but once they made it all about her and Glenn and no one else seemed to matter to her including her own sister, I was out. Then when she abandoned the Hill Too she pretty much handed Tara. Jesus, and Enid to Aloha and the Whisperers. Alden was the final straw tho.
@@CryWolf-sm9iw Yeah, by the end of the show damn near all of the characters were wrecked. Maggie became obnoxiously obsessed with Negan, Carol becomes a complete moron, Michonne is hella boring, etc, etc. 🤦
@@CryWolf-sm9iw I know it was just a typo and was meant to be "Hill Top" and "Alpha", but I can't stop smiling at "Aloha". Now I'm picturing The Whisperers in grass hula skirts instead of walker suits and I love it. Also, big agree on your points. The fact that they killed off several good characters to save one that they then decided to do nothing with (other than pointlessly kill off too) not just once (but several times) is so frustrating.
Beth could have easily lived to the end of the show if they didn't just kill her off for no reason. Most of her screen time was just her watching Judith anyway so she could have just been doing that through the Savior and whisperer ark. I mean yeah give her some scenes of course with Maggie and Glenn and everyone so she can still develop as time goes on but she definitely still could have just been a good character that came in clutch from time to time. And is it bad that I could have seen her with Carl? Y'all saw how Carl looked at her in season 3😂 I feel like during that time jump they are both adults and I could see them getting together or Beth can just be Carl's ultimate buddy throughout season 6-8 and as a result Carl does not get bit. I can also see her going on that run with Glen and Noah and seeing how Noah literally helped her get out and back to her family Noah would have lived. Beth is extremely trained at that point so she's got it handled. She also isn't stupid so the developer's literally killed her for no reason. As you said she is calm and collective so there is no way that she was too stupid enough to stab dawn while she was home free. She definitely would have advised a plan to go and get him out. They just wanted to further Daryl's character development. NOT EVEN MAGGIE'S, DARYL'S
All for Daryl to continue fighting for everyone else’s battles, and not get his own love story’s or plot development. Even in his own spinoff he’s still fighting or some goal of basically delivering a package, nothing more. Plus Daryl’s character development seems like it’s forgettable at times. I do love Daryl Dixon as a character but he seems to have gotten such a redundant storyline 😅
Beth is a prime example of how male writers trying to write for women benefit immensely by writing their characters with women or at least running them by women for meaningful feedback. All of the women fall so flat or are just horrible in this world.
Why do you people have to always make it about gender? There were no minority writers for the minority characters, but no one ever talked about how horribly they were handled. Having female writers doesn't just automatically means the female characters will be better. Just looks at Disney and their abundance if female writers, producers, showrunners, etc and how chit their content is.
People also forget that AMC had their hands around the neck of this show and caused it to become this frontrunner gauntlet of try and fail attempts, and on to the next person to try and steer the ship right again. When you have a money hungry company that you're in terms with, who primarily wants to milk as much content for cash, as they can. Good writing and competent steering of the plot are going out the window. I know it's been said thousands of times before, but them firing Darabont pretty much guaranteed this show would go the way it did.
I really love stories about underdog characters; especially with TWD and how we ended up seeing more of Carol become someone totally different by S4. When we started seeing Beth in her own individual arc in S5, I was excited to see her stand on her own - only for her to die in a dumb way and have her reason for dying (saving Noah) become pointless, when he dies episodes later.
Beth's death was the worst until they killed Karl off. Such pointless and dumb character deaths that didn't need to happen and made zero sense. I think everyone agrees on these two.
Honestly, i feel like her death wouldve been more impactful if they waited and killed her off much later...as in, had her be one of the victims of the Pikes on Alphas border. In the mean time, develop her more, and maybe have (like someone else suggested) her, Carl, and Noah become a trio of sorts. Perhaps develop her bond with Daryl more as well.
I emotionally checked out after her death, i finished the series but it was never the same. You can tell if you pay enough attention that her death permanently changed daryl
Thank you so much for making a video about Beth! Very compelling narrative, as always. She still is one of my favorite characters from this universe, such a shame what the writers did to her :(
She should have lasted longer. Young perspective. A female Carl in a way…. She was so strange and timid at first I really though it was a waste to develop her then kill her off
They should have her done a Rick or a Madison or a Maggie. Imagine her appearing when Maggie is about to be stabbed by Lea. Then Beth saved her. Wasted potential of a great character. Her and Andrea.
I feel like I’m one of the few people who doesn’t hate Beth’s death. That time in the show was the lowest point for the group. For the first time on screen, they didn’t have a home. They were out on their own with almost nothing to keep them alive. Not everyone survived this period. Beth and Tyreese died during this time. They were so desperate for survival and then Aaron and Alexandria come along. You really feel how amazing this place is for the group and for a time, they’re finally safe. Alexandria wouldn’t have had as strong as an impact as it did if Beth and Tyreese survived
Thank you. I know Beth isn’t one of the big fan favorites, but her wasted potential as a character really angered me. It was a huge slap in the face to kill of Noah after Beth died for him. I never understood Beth’s action of stabbing Dawn. It was very out of character and incredibly stupid to do…
Beth and Carl's death upset me the most. Beth had so much potential. I would have love to see how she would have been in the Savior and Whisper Arc. She was becoming more then just Judiths baby sitter. Beth and Daryl's relationship (platonic or romantic) would have been amazing to see grow. The part i get upset is that no one mentions her! Past a few episodes of Coda, they just stop talking about her. Like six seasons later im still upset about Beth.
Hmm the only thing I have issues with is the relationship between Beth & Daryl. It's less that the relationship is bad & more that I dislike how fans wanted them to get together! Beth as a character was 16 when we meet her. There's according to the wiki & lines in the show there's 7 months between Season 2 & 3. Then 6 months between season 3 & 4. So Beth might only be 17 for most of season 4. The wiki lists her as 18 by episode 13 season 4. Daryl is listed as in his early 40's in SEASON 1! lol I have seen some wiki's say Daryl was late 30's by season 1 but it makes no difference. There was NO shot a romance between those 2 would ever happen. I only bring this up because around 4:00 Beth & Daryl's relationship is brought up in the video. Theo doesn't mention a romance thankfully. But god part of the reasons so many fans were 'invested' was because they shipped the 2 weirdly. He was more than double her age. I think it's CLEAR in the show he views her as a little sister or maybe daughter figure. But mostly a sister. There was nothing romantic between them in my opinion. Daryl met her as a damn child, he never would've gotten with her. Also I know this was long winded, but I've always thought of this & this is a Beth video so I figured it was relevant
So I love these videos but when I I think of wasted potential I think that’s an unspoken impact that comes with the death of their character. Just like when anyone dies younger than they should. There’s so much potential but everything they are thoughts, memories, stories, at an instant is gone.
I think the hospital storyline would be more entertaining if Beth actually lived. Killing her off and building up her character, just for her to die so stupidly ruined the whole hospital storyline, atleast in my opinion.
@@chrisisdyslexic6815 I would have hated that story line less if Beth didn't die at the end for sure but even before that I found it slow paced and not super engaging.
I think that the way that they killed her off was bad but killing her is a good decision. She is a character that doesn’t deserve to live in a world like this and the world doesn’t deserve to have an angel like her
I don’t know if you couldn’t find the info anywhere but back then it was known that Beth’s actress wanted out of the show… sad because her character really started to become so interesting:/
Strangely, Beth was killed right after her, and Dawn had teamed up to kill one of Dawn's officers. It seemed that they were beginning to click with one another. I wasn't a huge Beth fan, but killing her off that way was very, very unnecessary.
Yeah there was so much more that could have been done with Beth I thought her and Carl were gonna end up in a relationship in later seasons, her and Darryl were becoming like sister and brother and then she become a huge badass like Carol and her sister Maggie but nope she offed herself and I was like well that went no where 😑🤦
Beth and Karl should have hooked up whe they were older and had children. The police in the hospital should have joined Rick, being he was law enforcement. Noah and Sasha would have made a good couple. You could really see how walking dead started going with girl bosses and White Erasure. It was totally unbelievable and played out.
is this rage bait ???? beth is carls senior by nearly a decade and by the time carl died he wasnt even 17 and the relationships age gap still would have been weird. why would an established grown adult want to be with a teenager
Beth could’ve ended up being with Carl like the comic counterpart of Sophia, since Beth wasn’t in the comics and Beth was babysitting Carls sister for a season or two, it just felt like the writers didn’t know what else to do with her character so they killed her off
Worst part is Beth died in order to save Noah from the hospital... and then just a few episodes later, Noah dies. Making Beth's death feel even MORE unneeded and hollow.

@@Burberrydalivebecause as a woman watching you notice. Sorry your balls are getting twisted.

The actress was hot, my younger self was sad to see her get killed off ❤😂😢
I really love stories about underdog characters; especially with TWD and how we ended up seeing more of Carol become someone totally different by S4. When we started seeing Beth in her own individual arc in S5, I was excited to see her stand on her own - only for her to die in a dumb way and have her reason for dying (saving Noah) become pointless, when he dies episodes later.
Beth was just too pretty and sweet and cheerful to survive that. If Terminus didn't break her then the Saviors would have.
I loved Beth character she just started getting more of a fighter and dies before anything else can happen
I emotionally checked out after her death, i finished the series but it was never the same. You can tell if you pay enough attention that her death permanently changed daryl
Thank you so much for making a video about Beth! Very compelling narrative, as always. She still is one of my favorite characters from this universe, such a shame what the writers did to her :(
@@alexandraalves6620 your more than welcome, who would you like to see next!?
@@theohunttdefinitely the iceberg, lol
The problem is not even her dying, but the way she dies
Thank you. I know Beth isn’t one of the big fan favorites, but her wasted potential as a character really angered me. It was a huge slap in the face to kill of Noah after Beth died for him. I never understood Beth’s action of stabbing Dawn. It was very out of character and incredibly stupid to do…
Carl and Beth could have had a friendship but not a relationship. Yuck.
Like six seasons later im still upset about Beth.
the facebook page of the show accidently posted a rip for beth before the episode even aired too so the shock value didnt even hit all the way
Just as Beth became more than just that singing girl who holds Judith she gets her brains splattered across the wall 😂
man. her death made me mad LMFAO
Beth got so much hate. I never understood it. I love that folks nowadays are more willing now to at least defend her a little bit.
I've always loved her
We need a video for Ezekiel! He's so underrated.
Imagine Beth fave when she seen Noah in heaven like wth 😂
Hahahaha so true
That was one of the stupidest deaths on that show and that whole hospital storyline was really boring.

I stopped watching for months after beths death
Well that was the mid season finale, we all stopped for months! Lmao jk it made me so mad
I think that the way that they killed her off was bad but killing her is a good decision. She is a character that doesn’t deserve to live in a world like this and the world doesn’t deserve to have an angel like her
I don’t know if you couldn’t find the info anywhere but back then it was known that Beth’s actress wanted out of the show… sad because her character really started to become so interesting:/
beth should’ve survived till the whisperers and died on the pikes with maggie still in the show. Would’ve made the show 100% better
Do the importance of carol
I stopped watching only a few episodes after she died. I really got out before this show went over the cliff
Strangely, Beth was killed right after her, and Dawn had teamed up to kill one of Dawn's officers. It seemed that they were beginning to click with one another. I wasn't a huge Beth fan, but killing her off that way was very, very unnecessary.
Yeah there was so much more that could have been done with Beth I thought her and Carl were gonna end up in a relationship in later seasons, her and Darryl were becoming like sister and brother and then she become a huge badass like Carol and her sister Maggie but nope she offed herself and I was like well that went no where 😑🤦
Yeah it was such a baffling move, like why flesh out the character of Beth just to kill her off so quickly!!!
@@theohuntt i know right !
They fumbled Sophia's character on the show and had Beth perfectly ready to be set up to end up with Carl and AGAIN they fumbled it.
Carl was like, 13 in season 3 that would've been crazy 😭
I dunno i think she found her out and commited suicide by cop
Beth and Karl should have hooked up whe they were older and had children. The police in the hospital should have joined Rick, being he was law enforcement.
Noah and Sasha would have made a good couple. You could really see how walking dead started going with girl bosses and White Erasure. It was totally unbelievable and played out.
wat
is this rage bait ???? beth is carls senior by nearly a decade and by the time carl died he wasnt even 17 and the relationships age gap still would have been weird. why would an established grown adult want to be with a teenager
I hope Morales will be the next topic ❤️❤️❤️❤️
i stopped watching after her death.
Beth could’ve ended up being with Carl like the comic counterpart of Sophia, since Beth wasn’t in the comics and Beth was babysitting Carls sister for a season or two, it just felt like the writers didn’t know what else to do with her character so they killed her off
The Beth character should have died in the fall of the farm. Ugh. Stupid.
