@@Swell-Films I’ve heard he’s a great character and my sister stopped watching the show after he died. I haven’t watched the show all the way through (just random episodes here and there) so your channel has been a great alternative 😂 I know I’ll eventually watch it but for now binging your content is perfect 🫶🏽🥰
Particularly, I like both versions of this storyline, especially the one from the Show, which, being longer, provides more space to develop the characters and their relationships. Great video lad! :)
Thank you! I do agree the show develops the characters much better than the comics. Especially Maggie and Hershel. I think a big reason for that is the writing of dialogue, it’s so well done in those seasons
I always find it crazy how Lee and Clementine are in or out of the motel and could currently be in Savannah while the group was sorta near them. Always wished that Lee Clementine and Rick met up.
I'm pretty sure most of the events in Season 1 of the game take place before Issue 1 of the comics. Kirkman originally intended for the outbreak to take place in October 2003. However, when Episode 4 of Season 1 came out, Lee found one of the security tapes in Crawford to be from October, and when he watches it, the doctor on the tape says that it's been eighty-two days since the outbreak. This means the outbreak took place on July 19th. Season 1 of the game ends three months after the outbreak, most likely in November. The first volume of the comics only spans over less than a month and ends on Christmas Eve, at least if Andrea was accurately keeping track of the days.
When you think about it characters like Tyrese Abraham and Jesus who served as the lancer to ricks hero at different times in the comics get shafted somewhat in the show because Daryl’s always there to be the lancer, and I’m honestly not sure which one I prefer
Absolutely loving your channel! A proper TWD goldmine and treat. Thank you. I'm finally catching up with the tv shows and I'm somewhat depressed now. I refused to watch the last 3 episodes of Season 11 until last week, with them obviously being aired around 2 years ago. My logic behind that was, the Show had never actually ended for me. However, I'd finished S8 of Fear, a couple of months ago and I watched World Beyond S 1/2 when they became available in the UK. I have recently watched The Ones Who Live and Daryl S1, as they have only just arrived on UK subscription tv here, as well. This has left only Dead City for me to watch, which arrived here a couple of days ago, but I'm definitely sad about pretty much finishing everything off. I've only recently become aware of Tales, so I'm looking forward to that as well, but this channel is keeping the Dead, alive for me!
I was never a comic reader so this has been really fun to see the differences between the show and comic. Thanks for doing these breakdowns and I'm looking forward to the future ones!
I’m so glad you’re covering the comics, I’ve loved your channel for the show but the comics have always been my preferred version of the walking dead. However of course, this part of the comics shows where it lacks and where the tv show does better. Honestly I would love to see an animated version of the walking dead combing both the best aspects from the comics and tv show into one for what I would think would be the perfect version of this story. Can you imagine, keeping some show characters, but killing others off. Fleshing out comic characters that were gone too quickly, etc etc. I just think it would be incredible.
A wise me once told me fight the dead and fear the living! Me personally I love TWD comics and I loved how when the telltale game came out they used the exact same farm from the comic which told us this game takes place in the comic universe in 2003. Once again you did great on this video and this was another win for my weekend!
28 days later was definitely influenced by Day of the Triffids ... similar opening waking up in hospital but the difference is everyone was blind instead of zombies
I personally enjoyed this arc over the show because it was nicely paced but the story is better in the show because of Shane. Hershel in the comics at the start was a jerk but became loved. Lori in the comics is wayyyy better than the show and I'll always think that! Thank you for explaining this volume! I also like the nods at the novel and video game too. If you ever do volume 3, that will be awesome and i cant wait!
Thank you so much for this vid, i love to watch these at the end of a long week, i can't wait for more videos about the comics, i Really love these, oh and I can't wait for more of the disturbing stories of the walking dead, thank you so much, but I wonder what's going to happen to Tyrese, he is such a good character, but thank you so much for taking the time to make these vids, you really made my week, thank you
I’m a big zombie fan 🧟♂️ man I love the Walking dead so much especially the comics pure masterpiece but overall I wanted to say that man walking dead has taught me a lot of life lessons sometimes when you fall off in life it’s okay as long as you respond to get back and especially with change it’s okay to change sure it may be scary but it’s okay to change main point is I still hold dear to those lessons life is hard but I keep pushing! 💯
Tbh i never noticed the switch im art style when reading it's got some differences like the less rounded more sharp and rectangular eyes but without you mentioning it the two styles are close enough that i probably would have never noticed
I honestly prefer the show Greene family as the multiple children feel like they were created to be killed in the comic, but Billy’s definitely the exception as he’s in the story for many volumes, it definitely would’ve been cool to see him in the show.
Once again, the show and the comics have their plusses and minuses. I enjoyed the drawn out farm storyline in the show, as is sussed out the characters more. A lot of people didn't, as they felt the show dragged. The show also delved deeper into the moral dilemmas faced by the group. I would say at this time, I much prefer the show arcs over the comics, but that would change significantly as we went along. After the Saviors/Whispers story arcs, the comics seemed to have it much more together than the show.
Loris honestly a much better character in the comics, although she does have her moments. I’d highly recommend continuing after that point as I beleive the comics take over the show quality wise after that point
I don’t know if there’s enough evidence to. Accurately say what happened. But I was just watching fear The Walking Dead. The mall, where Morgan and Grace. Are, looking for the red jacket survivor. Might be a good place for environmental storytelling. Fear season 5 ep 10. I rewatch all the time. I’ll keep letting you know when I see something that peaks my interest
I actually much prefer the comic and never felt like parts were missing. I say that as someone that actually really hated the show version. I really think the shortened version felt appropriate with the amount of time spent at the farm. In another comment I see you mention you felt like the kids are just added to die later, but hey actually end up serving as a vital purpose for the group to truly understand what the virus is. I'm sorry if this feels like a spoiler to anyone, but the later deaths are the first time the group confirms that the virus makes everyone turn after death, not just those who are bitten. With the CDC taken out of the comics I feel like the added context of existing to die morbidly makes sense and isn't a negative decision.
That’s fair, I think it just comes down to preference. I probably wouldn’t feel that way about the comic version if I hadn’t seen the show first. However I believe the Chris and Julie moment is what causes rick to speed off back to the Atlanta camp for Shane as julie turns from the gunshot, Rachel and Susie kinda just reaffirm what we already found out after Rick digs Shane up and puts him down
Some of it happens simultaneous. Also while I think about it, the situation with Rachel and Susie is the first time the group actually has to deal with an outsider that causes harm. Other than Shane, which is considered as a man just having a mental breaking point from the POV of the rest of the group, it's the first time they have to deal with someone who's just point blank a monster. It also leads to Rick's hand issue. I only just recently started reading the comic because my bf has Compendium One so this is fresh reading for me after years of not really being involved in TWD as a whole. I do like your channel because I would say binging your stuff is why I even decided to read the comic lol. I'm glad to see any perspective on it (other than my own) instead of just consuming it in a bubble! :)
Now I'm just watching lore videos but It kinda seems like Ricks Critics had a point as everyone started dropping like flies when he showed up. And why is baby Carl being taken hunting but not grown women? some gender role thing? And does no one have birth control with all the sex?
As someone that's also read the comics, I cannot stress how overrun the neighborhood was. They also had been running low on food, tired, and getting very hungry by the time they found the neighborhood. I think it's easy to say they should have lured them all out and then fight but them leaving was the safest decision and led to the least amount of risk. Clearing out the neighborhood on their own while luring the zombies out also would require them hoping that no horde comes up behind them and enclose them either.
Probably a mixture of inexperience with the dead, lack of energy from no food, and general shock from Donna’s death. Although it’s weird Rick is so confident at the end with the prison, so maybe they just figured it wasn’t secure enough to be worth it.
season 7 maybe 8 is where i dropped the walking dead completely some things show changed for better - added some in a great way but in others comic was better
Yoooo kid Carl was a REAL ride or die for Rick 😂 He flashed his weapon like he’s from the streets and was ready to end anyone on sight 🤣😭🤣
💀 fax. It only goes up for Carl from here in terms of character

I’m pretty sure I watched a Kirkman interview recently were he was pushing to have Clementine meet Negan and give him a scar that we would have seen
Will never get tired of the comic recaps. ❤️
I forgot how good of a character Tyrees was, damn
One of the best in the comics for sure
Comic Tyreese >>>>>Show Tyreese

I personally like Moore style better, it was more detailed. Adlard draws some characters very similar to others and it gets confusing at times

@@Swell-FilmsWhy do you think the show cut him? Budget right.💀
Honestly I’m not sure why he would’ve been cut. Especially since Beth was supposed to get the Rachel and Susie death. It probably was budget lol
Nine times out of ten they couldn't afford to have multiple children in more than one episode
I really wish they had more of Hershel's children in the TV Show, especially Billy i tought he was a cool character.
Billy definitely deserved justice. The rest I understand the need to cut as the budget was slashed pretty bad for season 2
