    Thanks Jake. By following along with your video and the official docs I was able to get up and running with my first Void install ever with my new favourite WM in one evening. I always thought it would be more complicated but you helped demystifiy a lot of things and made it fun. Really appreciate your video!

    Jake, we know you have a busy life. I think you apologize too much for not posting at a certain time. I personally look forward to your videos, but whether you choose to make a video once a week, once a month, or whatever duration, that's up you. I look forward to watching your videos when they come out, but if it takes longer for you to do it, so be it.. you just need to do what suits you, the rest of us are just secondary aspects and along for the ride. You are the primary aspect of your life.. that's my perspective anyways, and although sometimes I do try to cater to wishes of others, the end goal is for me, those who don't like it can unsubscribe to my channel..I am not trying to please everyone.

    Hello! I just subscribed! I used to run Void when I got tired of Funtoo/Gentoo, and I liked it when I ran it, but I did something when upgrading pkgs etc that completely borked my install/filesystem, so I want back to Windows for a time, but now I'm on vanilla Arch Linux running none other than... Hyprland! I'm running Stephan Raabe/MyLinuxForWork's dot files, and I really like it. If he or someone in the community ever "ports" his install script for his dotfiles to Void I'll go back to Void in a heartbeat. It truely is a unique distro, and I kind of miss it. Arch is too common (and of course well supported), but running Void was fun. I have a spare mini PC here so I might install Void onto it to play with it not on my main system. Question though, can't you passthrough a GPU or part of a GPU into your Virt Manager/QEMU instance to allow for animations etc? Great video!

      Based on what I am seeing, there is an issue with the spacing, meaning there is too much space around some of the arrows in the file named config. If you adjust the quotes around the arrows that should solve the issue. I recommend start with the first arrow, adjust one of the quotes, save and reload waybar so the change takes effect and see if it fixed the issue, there may be more than 1, if it did, great, if not, put the space back how it was and move to the next quote. I can't put an arrow in the comments here.butnincan give an example, I will use < instead of an arrow.
      Example: if line looks like this "< ", change it to look like this "

    Great video. You look really tired. Please get enough rest. Nothing is worth destroying your health and ending up in a hospital. I know our society preaches go go go. Yet most people are stressed out all of the time. This is not healthy.

    Also more generally, why would you want elogind when you already took the leap of running a systemd-free system ?

    How to install plugins?

    If only Autodesk Maya and daVinci Resolve works on Void :(, I can use Distrobox, but I'm rather using native package manager.

      Is there a deb package of them,.or are they available in the nix package manager?

      @@JakeLinux DaVinci is a normal .run package, Maya is "only" compatible with Fedora and Red Hat but is not true because I'm using it with Arch Linux.

      @@JakeLinux I'm sorry if I bother you, but gvfs and udiskie doesn't work properly on my Void + Hyprland Setup, I still don't know why, because I'm using the same script on My Gentoo + Runit and it works just fine, my same config files works on almost every distro I tried

      @@JakeLinux for some reason the Dbus service doesn't work properly, it starts without any problem because Hyprland works, but for some apps it doesn't, I fix it by changing some executable line and now is working fine, I still need to fix the Sys tray problem

      What error are you getting when trying to install?

  • @keremk13

    Super+Q wont work unless you passthrough your super key to the virtual machine. You can add the following lines to your hyprland.conf
    # Passthrough SUPER KEY to Virtual Machine
    bind = $mainMod, P, submap, passthru
    submap = passthru
    bind = SUPER, Escape, submap, reset
    submap = reset
    With this, you passthrough your super key by SUPER+P. After that, all of your key bindings will only work on virtual until you reset your submap with SUPER+ESC

      Thanks for the tip but passthrough isn't needed, my original test run had no issues because I installed xorg. if xorg is installed kitty launches perfectly fine.

      @JakeLinux, I encountered a similar problem with Alacritty and Dmenu on Debian. Installing Xwayland resolved the issue for me.

      I think the terminal doesn't launch because a font isn't installed for it to use, and since Xorg comes with fonts, this rectifies the issue. It's not an input capture problem because Super+M still works for exiting Hyprland. I installed the Liberation fonts and it worked without xorg.

      It was the font that was doing it for me. I ran `sudo xbps-install -S font-iosevka` and it all worked
