If someone asks me who BTS are (and yes, there are still plenty of people out there who don't know them - hard to believe if you are ARMY, but true!) I send them the link for this speech by RM, and THEN a playlist. RM speaks to absolutely everyone here. We can all learn to be better human beings by speaking ourselves and knowing, really knowing, who we are. BTS' commitment to UNICEF, which continues to raise much needed millions of $$$ for UNICEF also speaks to their continued care for young people and an end to violence around the globe. Between 2017 & 2021 BTS raised USD$3.6 million from % of LOVE YOURSELF album sales and LOVE MYSELF merchandise. They pledged a further USD$1 million in 2021 from sales and individual members continue to quietly donate to UNICEF. UNICEF has not updated on the campaign since 2021, so not clear how much this campaign continues to raise through BTS sales, but nevertheless another example of their engagement with real world issues. RM is so honest and admirable here. I'm glad you listened to this in full. BTS have made two further presentations at the UN, both during the global lockdowns.

Namjoon is such an inspiration, best leader indeed!! You should also check out their speech at UN 2020 and 2021 where all the members spoke. They also have a graduation speech in 2020 that is so inspiring as well, actually I've watched it again when I graduated college last year and imagine that they are the guest speakers for my graduation.

Gosh thank you for bringing attention to Namjoon’s speech. I haven’t listened to it in ages and listening to it again gives me goosebumps. I have been in this earth far longer than he has but he sounds like someone who has experienced and reflected on life further than his age. Truly an inspiration no matter your age. You said it best and that is why it’s hard to not love them. They are just different. As if they were brought together on a mission to inspire & bring comfort to anyone who needs it💜

It was so emotional. Something he said has always stayed with me -
(he must have been referring to this speech, a second one at the UN, and a visit to the White House)...he asked,
"What am I, a diplomat?"
(new nickname, "President")
So moving....it made me sad. He just wanted to make music. He never intended it to take him to such heights, and in all directions.

Namjoon is such a powerful orator. He has an incredible way with words. This speech was so powerful and the message is still so relevant today as it was then. My admiration for him continues to grow every day. The whole group are, as you said, so relatable to “ordinary” people. We all have struggles, they might not be the same, but for each individual those struggles are real. I count myself as so amazingly lucky that I found these guys back on 2013. They have helped me through some of the hardest times of my life and the strength I get from them is immeasurable. There will never be another BTS - these guys coming together was fate, an incredible 1 off. Separately, they are amazing people but together, they have become unstoppable. Great reaction as always.
