The speech that was written in many books and has been quoted by many until today. I am so proud of Kim Namjoon for this. Despite him being nervous and his hands literally shaking but he delivered his speech with so much power. 🔥🔥🔥
This is not the only time they were invited to speak at the UN, they have now been invited 3 time and the other members spoke in the other 2 UN speeches.
i remember staying up SO LATE just to watch this live and by god, i was shaking with nerves. dont make a mistake its ok dont make a mistake - i was chanting in my head, as if you're watching your kid deliver their first school performance or smth, but the moment RM opened his mouth, starting his speech with 'and i'd like to begin with talking about myself', i knew instantly that he was gonna nail it! why was i so nervous?? still, it was definitely one of those moments when you realize how much you care and genuinely root for these guys. because you wanna see them succeed and be recognised the way they deserve. i was just so proud of them!!
On this day Army started calling him Mr. President. 24 years old! They realized their music has literally saved people's lives. Literally. The suicide rate in South Korea is the highest in the world...so BTS music is Very imp. Thank you for finally getting to this.
i could listen to namjoon talk all day. you have no idea how many times i’ve watched this speech. every time i see it, i feel so inspired and fulfilled. they’re truly making a meaningful difference in the world. proud would be an understatement, i love them so much.
Now you need to watch the Behind The Scenes for this UN Speech, which shows them heading to The States; the hours RM spent memorizing his speech; the quiet support the others gave him; and after the speech. It's all so impressive, inspiring, and touching.
I've seen this video 10 times and cried 11 😭 “Maybe I made a mistake yesterday, but yesterday’s me is still me. I am who I am today, with all my faults. Tomorrow I might be a tiny bit wiser, and that’s me, too. These faults and mistakes are what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of my life. I have come to love myself for who I was, who I am, and who I hope to become.” was the introduction to my graduation thesis
This speech made me his bias. I found them on 2017. It helped me a lot. And also his mixtape 😢MONO seriously helped alot from depression. He wrote this speech personally.and it's connected to his life too.
This kind of people should rule the world...And it's not just because he talks nice but because his beliefs are so clear and true...the fact that he and the members of BTS are so humble and always grateful to those who got them to where they are now makes you believe that there really is still hope for humanity…their message for the entire globe is an extraordinary one: love yourself so that you can help and love those around you... Extraordinary!!!
He said he dreamed he could save the world. Mikrocosmos, the song relates every single person to a whole world. I hope he knows he saved many worlds. I really hope he does.
This made me cry. I always cry every time I watch this speech. I hope Namjoon and the Tannies know how much their words, their music, and their messages continue to resonate so deeply. I am so proud of BTS.
First time seeing this Kim Namjoon video, his words saved my life in 2021🥺. And I started to get curious about them so I decided to become an army and positif live my life
"Maybe I made a mistake yesterday, but yesterday’s me is still me. I am who I am today, with all my faults. Tomorrow I might be a tiny bit wiser, and that’s me, too. These faults and mistakes are what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of my life. - This is what began my BTS journey 💜 Started me down the rabbit hole. 😌
This speech was so iconic that it was taught in schools around the world and quoted by many professors and students during graduation speeches. I've always admired RM's intellect and articulation when speaking, specially in English. The man taught himself the language by watching a tv show and is now able to express himself better than lots of native speakers out there 👏
Yey. Finally. This UN speech made me an Army. I know BTS long before that but i became an Army. So smart. So sincere. I knew then they are not just an ordinary boy band. They have a message. They have values.
Pls do watch the behind the scenes..he's so awesome namjoon,a whole lot of respect...giving important speech n room full of leaders and that too in another language being soo younggg...my leader for life ,I learn so much from him,he's so charismatic....my heart 💜...THIS SPEECH IS ICONIC,HES N HISTORY BOOKS , LEGEND
Namjoon's speech still gives me goosebumps. It's just so good and the way he speaks is amazing. I didn't notice he was nervous it all back then. Kim Namjoon the man that you are! I'm so proud of him and so proud of Bangtan! I'm 22 and thinking the fact Jin the oldest member was only 25, Namjooon who gave that incredible speech and was handling all the responsibilities and pressure just turned 24 a couple of days ago and Jungkook the youngest member recently turned 21 ... THAT BLOWNS MY MIND. They were so young and already making history and changing the world with their influence 😭😭 I can't wait for BTS to come back!! They have always been special giving us good art, fighting against discrimination and prejudices and giving good messages 💜
You guys should watch the behind the scenes for this as well. To see how nervous they were and their thoughts on the opportunity. There's another UN speech where they all talk. And of course the White House visit. And each have behind episodes on their TH-cam channel.
Damn I still tear up to this. That's right, I feel like I found myself again when I found BTS. Its something beautiful and something Id never thought I get to experience at 30 y/o. Thank you, Namjoon. Thank you BTS 💜
hes such an amazing speaker, to this day it blows my mind that he taught himself the whole language, that is not easy at all. the leader roll was MADE for him 💜 im so proud
Thanks for the reaction. I first saw this before I really knew who BTS was. It really hits differently after getting to know them. Later, I felt like a proud Mom.
i love how they've always done nothing but putting out in the world positive change no matter what their position was, but i also sometimes really think about the amount of pressure that these boys have had on their shoulders especially for their age (and of course for namjoon in particular, which you'll see when you watch minimoni music and their talk about the rpwp album), i definitely recommend the other un speeches and their speech at the white house
I have “speak yourself” tattooed above my elbows because i was so inspired and proud of this speech and maybe inspire someone standing behind me to also speak themselves 💜
I'm an ARMY coming back to BTS after taking a break for a while, watching videos of you discovering BTS feels like rediscovering the reasons why I love them. Thank you.
I love namjoons award speech for 2019 of Golden Disc Award when he mention about them knowing for the first time that their group will be called " Bangtan Sonyeondan" . I love that the most!!!
Im so proud of him. I remember this iconic moment. I remember being so nervous and prouf of him and the boys, after all we've been thru for the past years and seeing them reach this point of their career bcs of things their passionate about-which is music is so magical. I witnessed ppl applauding him for his speech, crying, and becoming a fan. It was an unforgettable moment imprinted not only in the army's history book but also to the whole kpop community, and south korea. They also delivered a commencement speech to the class/graduates of 2020, it's also as inspiring as this. Maybe you could check it out if you haven't yet.
I used to tell my childhood bffs about BTS SINCE 2015...they never made fun of them or me being an Army but they never understood that why I like them so much n why I follow their words so much. I remember I watching this UN Speech Live and also chatting with my very first 2Army friends in between...when the live was over I saw one of my Childhood bff messaged me and asked me about BTS and said how she felt so proud and happy while watching them a min ago...I sent her many link so she can learn about BTS. Guys, you know how much they practice..he must have read and repeated by heart that speech so many times, he was very nervous... Noticeable in his face, body, voice and his pronunciation of English (you can see that kind of speech in an interview with Pharrell too:)) But also keep in mind how much he thinks and over thinks stuff, not to mention the occasion, the place he was speaking, the audience he had... All that in a time, well not the best time for them... Remember 2018 , the year they were thinking about ending BTS, over tired and over stressed by the pressure of the success ...
I love how he always acknowledges his mixtapes in front of important people (he did with the president of SK as well) that says a lot, he's the only kpop artist I know who does this (they will never make me hate you Joon!) he's just the best leader and I'm so glad he has his members by his side, I'm so glad they succeeded
I loved their music and massage since 2015 but when I say they saved me is when I heard this speech of Namjoon I was under so much pressure that affected me physically but this speech helped my voice to really get out and be heard even though I lived in terror for two days after I NEVER REGRETTED MAKING MY VOICE BE HEARD 💜✨

I think the most recent one that I watched twice is his speech during his appointment as honorary ambassador for MAKRI-this is a project for excavation, identification, and reuniting the remains of fallen soldiers during the Korean War in the 50s. Me encanta que las personas se den cuenta de lo increíble que es RM, no solo como líder de BTS si no como ser humano y su valor, lo admiro mucho y tengo mucho respeto por todo lo que hace 👏🏻👏🏻💜
Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. This was my 2nd watch. Such an amazing speech agree. So glad u finally saw it in ful. Behind the scenes next. =0] Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
This was such a great speech! But we know that Namjoon is always so eloquent. That's why we call him, Mr. President! 💜💜💜 On a side note, about him learning English through Friends. Idk if this was explained to you already. Joon didn't learn English from Friends only. In most Asian countries, like SK, English is already part of the school curriculum. We learn the rules on reading, grammar, SVA, sentence construction, etc. So the foundation is already there. The challenge will be the speaking part especially on how to change/adapt our accents that would fit when talking in English. Also that in a country with most people around you not talking in English it will be difficult to practice. Tae, mentioned that actually as well. So, watching American shows can help us a lot. That's what most likely happened with Namjoon. There's a lot of Koreans that'll travel international to learn English, like going to the Philippines. Btw, I know because I have taught English to Koreans, Chinese and Japanese. Our curriculum mostly surrounds on speech, having our students apply and develop their reading and speaking skills.
Please watch behind the scenes as well.. And they were invited 3 times. This was the 1st one. 2nd one was during covid so it was online.. And the third time they performed PTD at the UN. On the last 2 all the members spoke.
I sometimes go a while without watching this, and every single time its so powerful for so many reasons. Happy you all got to watch tjis finally. Itd be fun for you guys to watch the bejind for this with the view in tje lead up and after he did the speech. Ugh i love these guys so friggin much 💜
10:00 Abigail : What’s your name , ABIGAIL !!! 😂 So cute
i giggled, so sweet
STRAY KIDS IS THE KING OF KPOP,,,,
The speech that was written in many books and has been quoted by many until today. I am so proud of Kim Namjoon for this. Despite him being nervous and his hands literally shaking but he delivered his speech with so much power. 🔥🔥🔥
In graduation, they are using it a lot. So proud.
His speech actually helps me cuz i used them as sample during my essays in my final year of exam high school
and i also used his vlive talks with armies the one with the "tree" anology he came up with

That is so true. And so impressive.
I know I'm in tears and so proud of them🥺🫶🏻
Namjoon is very great public speaker 🔥 One of the best Joonie moment

"I didn't get so much time to live my life as Kim Namjoon"😢😢
This is one of my favourite Namjoon moment.

Thank you for this one. I don't think I would've ever watched the whole speech if it weren't for you putting it on for us to see.
Oooh I have been waiting for this, finally!
And if you wonder how he speaks in korean, he is more eloquent and poetic. You can read it in his letters that you can check out in Weverse.
No matter how many times I watch the speech, I am proud. Hope you see the behind the scenes!!
