Today we put the Retro Rocket to the test, in all three of its configurations. Whether you’re into relaxing beginner level fun, crazy maneuverable and aerobatics, or crazy speed and smooth lines. This little cartoon jet can do it all. Watch as Josh builds a unique Retro Rocket for each of his good friends, Dave and Stefan. Dave's EDF got me hooked; my silver one has the EDF, and my son's prop version will be white like a Thunderbird.

Such a cool airplane. It flies much better than it looks like it should. It totally reminds me of the Judy Jetstream foam board DIY plane that I built years ago. It even looks like it. I want to try the EDF version! 😃

For edf thrust vectoring, it would be good to use four linear actuators or four servos attached after the edf perpendicular too each other, attached with strings, which control a flexible converging nozzle which is 3D printed out of PETG, a flexible material.

@@FliteTestHi I am a technician in a school in England. We have an 80W Chinese laser are you able to give me any advice about cutting foam board please? From my own experiments I am thinking hot and fast is best but I'm trying to reduce shrinkage of the foam core. I am also focussing the laser to the middle of the board. We are using this for architectural models mostly though we sometimes use it for prototyping other stuff. Thanks for any help you can offer. Thanks for the videos too 👍🇬🇧

Add in a foam cowling for your EDF vectoring. Make multiple size foam cones shave the ends down and interlace them like stacking funnels.
Boost with rockets and recover on edf or folding prop wow what a design crack on boys

These look fantastic! I have a crashed 70mm EDF jet running a 4S battery. (Reb70 I think) Could I use that motor & ESC in one of these?
Are the wing fences obligatory for good flight characteristics? I didn't notice them in the prototype video, but now I check back, I think all versions have them.

I'd love to see some chubby models of real planes done in this style. Imagine how adorable a chubby F-4, or some warbirds would look with these proportions.
If you're open to taking future project suggestions, maybe a double jointed ornithopter? A little different that normal and would spice things up a bit on the channel (:
I wonder if you could set 4-5 of these up as a locked/tight 'formation', (like the Blue Angels). Perhaps MacGyvering that tech they use to make quadcopter formations etc. It would look so cool, I reckon...

Wonderful question. You can fly on a 4000 mA 6cell. The weight will obviously be a bit higher.

Is there a build video for the prop thrust vectoring ? I have the kit I just don’t know how to put it together.
I believe we had the upload issue with the last couple Bill Videos. They should be up in the morning :-).
The wing and the fuse videos are up and you can build those first. No changes are made to those portions for the thrust vectoring.
