This is so perfectly timed! I am doing a photoshoot for an All star team this weekend and only have continuous lights. I need dramatic lighting. This was great. Thank you.
doing some banner shots in a few days. I don’t think I want anything too dramatic for that. Thinking about doing a four light x pattern with a key, a fill, and two edge lights. You think this could work?
I bought a full size mannequin from Amazon for under $70. Also a blonde and brunette wig for hair light practice. Cool thing, her eyes show catch lights. Also, butterfly lighting gets its name for the shadow the nose casts. They claim it has a butterfly shape. Not sure I see it. Great video Matt. Thanks.
Thanks for this. I think using the mannequin is a great Idea to hone lighting skills, eventually saving time on a real job. I was looking over your gear list, but you make no mention of the C-Stands you are using. Would you be kind enough to let us know and do you recommend them or something else?
I've never been able to "see" the butterfly pattern that is called that for. Just a shadow under the nose is all I see but it doesn't look like a butterfly to me! Ha! Great video once again.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. My wife and I have learned a ton from you and it’s really helped our business grow. Keep it up bud.
Man that’s awesome thank you for sharing! And for the support!

Thank you! I appreciate the support.
I definitely don’t see it haha
plan on using a eye lighter for my headshots as fill. Not sure I like it though, not as much control, but it frees up a light. Nice video!
Love the eye lighter for sure! Thank you!

Absolutely! Thanks for watching. My c stands are impact. I think the ones on Amazon are the same thing I’d go with them!
@@MattHernandez I appreciate that, thank you.
Where can I get that mannequin head? Are the eyes glass to cast reflections?
Here you go! amzn.to/3X0JTGs
Unfortunately not that’s the only fownfall
What tripod do you use? Looks like an easy rotation from horizontal to vertical and vice versa
It’s a manfroto carbon fiber but not sure on the model number. The rotation was from my 70-200 though.

Me either man haha. Thanks Clark I appreciate you watching!
my sony a7c ii cant go over 160 shutter in high speed sync is this normal
It should be able to…did you put it on mechanical shutter?
Yeah I’ve tried everything and I researched and apparently a7c ii one of the few models that won’t activate higher then 160 😢
Can you do a Sportrait lighting setup or recipes video 🙏🏿💪🏿❤ Mr 11K subs
YES I can!!!
I need a mannequin! Great idea to practice.
Yes you do! Thanks it’s a great tool.
Facts. My wife gets sick and tired of me calling her into the studio for a pose while she’s in her pjs lol
Hahahaha no doubt.
