PS: I loved your video. I have the zv-e10, and I am researching a gimbal for it. You're the first gimbal reviewer that actually shows us what the buttons and functions on a gimble do. Thank you.
I have watched every review of the crane m3 and this video by Kyle is probably the best: super knowledgeable, a great series of video clips, and insightful. My travel gear is small and light (Sony A6600 camera (APSC) with Sigma 30mm and the new Sigma 18-50mm (16mm was tried-it's too heavy/long). Tips: l. BUY the extended warranty-Asurion; 2. buy the basic kit and get the Neweer long handle and use the side screw port (1/2 inch) to further steady the gimbal by creating a side handle; 3. update firmware via wifi wirelessly/using zhiyun app; 4. Watch You Tube balancing video; 5. The Crane m3's sweet spot is the smaller mirrorless camera, such as the APSC Sony 6000 series and the sony zv-e10. I DO like this gimbal and it will be the one I take with me for filming overseas. Thanks, Kyle, for your very hard work in putting together this excellent review!
I’ve used several gimbals for my a6400 and this one is by far the most usable. It’s not as strong as my crane v2 or weebil s but it it’s actually small, compact and lightweight which none of those others are.
Great video.. I just shot a wedding using it.. Worked great.. impressed the guest .. Only draw back was having to remove the base plate to change the camera battery..
The newer version “crane m3s” will work better with the zve10 because it has Bluetooth connectivity to be able to start and stop recording with the gimbal

Great video. Thanks man. I'm planning to buy ZV e10, exactly for travelling videos and b rolls. Do you think 24-70mm lens would really be to heavy for m3?
Loved this. How long can you keep the SONY ZV-E10 out in the snow? Is there anything special l need to do to the camera? I want to get some footage skiing with a gimbal. Thank you for your amazing content.
It shouldn’t have much problems in the cold, the battery might not last as long but the camera isn’t really weather proof and some lenses also don’t have weather seals so I wouldn’t use it if you think it could get really wet.
Love to watch your videos! Did you take that 18-105mm on the field to film or did you just try it on your desk? I'm bit sceptical and trying to make a decision between Crane M3 and Weebill S.
Amazing video quality do you shoot using a picture profile? (The snow sliding part to be more specific), I just bought the ZV e10 and I would like to produce video quality like yours.
Yeah this quick release plate I wish it was a arca Swiss but man I hate that plate for weebill S. I love how quickly you can put this on the gimbal and off. So even though yes you have to take the plate off the camera and put new plate on. The quickness of taking it off makes up for it. As far as batteries well you can buy a second gimbal while charging this. It’s cheap enough. Or plug a battery into the USB’c port
Just the kind of information I needed cos I just purchased the gimbal. Will be here tomorrow and I just can't wait for to have it in my hands. I also have a ZVE10! Great information. Thanks. Keep up the good work

@@djdoubledown Which RS3 version did you buy? I'm returning the Zhiyun Crane M3 because with the sigma 16 1.4 lens and the small rig cage setup, the M3 wouldn't auto calibrate correctly for me as it was too front heavy, I suppose. I did have success calibrating without the small rig but that isn't what I am looking for unfortunately.
@@FR8MES the RS3 (not pro or mini) it easily handles the zve 10 + sigma + SmallRig cage + Freewell VNDS. Adding a videomic go 2 or wireless go is also no prob, willjust take a bit of extra calibration.

You have to use the usb multi port cable and the zv-e10 doesn’t have a micro usb . Zhiyun is supposed to put out the Bluetooth camera control soon for cameras that don’t have a multi USB port.
All of the modern cameras will be good but I like the zv-1 and zv-e10 / a6400. They all have screens that you can flip open and they all have good image quality and the ability to add an external mic for better audio
Can I Start and stop recording and control zoom wheel with this gimbal? I had the Zhiyun M2 and was able to connect it but I can't figure out this Gimble. Help !!
We just fot this and love it! We have the z e 10 and i am wondering, do you think it will hold woth the sony 50-210mm kit lens that the a6400 comes with?
Hi, can you control the zoom on the kit lens of the ZV-E10, and/or focus, via gimbal scroll wheel? I’ve tried the DJI RSC 2 with this camera but not sure how to get controls working and it seems only record button works but not the scroll wheel.
Kyle, quick (not really) question. So, I want to start a TH-cam channel and make vlogs in the style of Casey Neistat and Jesse Wellens, a lot of cuts and transitions, slow mo, color grading, text on screen similar to MKBHD when he does reviews etc… With that being said, do you think the Base Model 14’ MBP would handle 4K footage from a ZV-E10 with lots of edits similar to Jesse and Casey? Or would you suggest up the specs? Reason I ask is because after all the reviews I’ve watched, there only seems to be 10-15% increase if buying the 10 CPU-16GPU so $300 for only a slight increase. In your 2 week review you mentioned it can handle 4K with basic edits, but with lots of edits and on screen text and animations and tracking when showing products in Resolve would it handle it, What do you think? Thank you in advance. Love the videos!
Yes that new MacBook Pro will handle it no problem. I’ve been editing on a 2015 iMac and the only thing my computer has trouble with is 10 bit 4:2:2 4K 120fps from my a7siii. The zv-e10 won’t give you any problem in 4K being it’s an 8 bit camera
hello i have the gimbal with sony zv e 10. I noticed it does not have the option to press play and stop using the gimbal for this camera. Is that correct? I also am charging the gimball, but it doesn't charge the camera, is that correct? Thanks for replying :)
They were supposed to put out the Bluetooth control module to be able do the start/stop function to work cause the zve10 doesn’t have a micro usb multi port (which is why it doesn’t work for the start stop function) but you can use the gimbals battery to help power the camera. You have to go into the menu and turn on “power on usb” and then use the usb c cable on the gimbal to the camera and it should work
Hey Kyle, some people are saying the Sigma 16mm is actually 24mm on APSC. Is this true? I believe that since it’s meant for APSC it’s true to its focal length! Please let me know what you think.
Yes that is true. The lenses are always what they are marked as as far as focal length, but the apsc camera has a 1.5x crop. So a 16 is a 24 equivalent. So when using an apsc camera alway multiply the focal length of the lens times 1.5 to get the full frame equivalent.
@@KyleWattsTV thanks for the fast reply man! The 16mm looks pretty wide even though it’s actually 24mm on APSC. This brings another question, if the crop factor is still the case, what is the point in purchasing a E mount vs FE? And can you use the prime 16mm on a full frame to get the true focal length? What the reason for these E mount lenses? Thank you once again!
@@yusufertabak very good question! Most of the apsc lenses will have issues on full frame cameras since the rear element is usually smaller and designed to be on an apsc, but in some cases when you turn on active stabilization on a full frame, it crops in just enough to remove the vignette. Also some of the Sony full frame cameras have a setting called super 35 which is the 1.5 crop so you can still use apsc lenses. But you can use any of the full frame lenses on the apsc cameras with no issues. I’m guessing they just make the apsc lenses that way for better performance on the apsc bodies. On my channel I have a “sigma 16 hack” video showing that you can still use the sigma 16 on a full frame
@@KyleWattsTV I’ll definitely check that video out! It’s a shame that they say 16mm when I’m reality it’s not.. even on full frame in a pain in the rear end which is so confusing. Thanks again!
Zhiyun was supposed to put out a Bluetooth module for cameras like the zve10 but I do t think they have yet. Since the zve10 doesn’t have a multi Port Micro usb port you can’t control it with the gimbal. The usb c cable will only charge the camera. I’m hoping that they will eventually release the BT module soon
Beside connecting the camera to the gimbal with the USB cable. What settings in the camera/gimbal do you use to get the record button to work on the gimbal for the Sony zve 10? Can't seem to figure it out
@markb6s4 yes. Unless you have the extra Bluetooth module and the combo that has the mic input and Bluetooth adapter. But yes go with the new m3s if you have the zve10
did you say it wasn't balancing on 18-105 or sigma 16mm because i have zv e10 and sigma 16mm and i don't know if it will balance good i can't decide between this and weebill-s
I'm on the fence with this. Lots of youtubers get gifts like these. Although unbiased review, its still freebie. Would you really be happy if you paid for this, baring in mind the non arca mount? Maybe a monopod? Im undecided on what to buy. Stabilisation on zv e10 is a big pain!
It’s a great gimbal but it does have its limitations with heavier set ups. The new weebill 3s is about to come out which will be a pretty good gimbal that will be capable of small and large setups
@@KyleWattsTV Sounds like I should maybe wait. Am still thinking good old fashioned monopod? I'd be tempted by this gimbal more if it had standard arca swiss mount. Thanks Kyle.
I heard that this gimbal is not compatible with the ZV-E10 camera, since the cables they give you do not connect to the camera, it can be used as such as a gimbal, but do not use those control buttons on the camera, and additionally You must buy camera adapters to be able to control from the gimbal which is an extra investment, and with that extra you could buy a gimbal rather than if it lets you access because it already has Bluetooth, can someone confirm if you found another form of connectivity?

I'm returning the Zhiyun Crane M3 because with the sigma 16 1.4 lens and the small rig cage setup, the M3 wouldn't auto calibrate correctly for me as it was too front heavy, I suppose. I did have success calibrating without the small rig but that isn't what I am looking for unfortunately.
@@FR8MES the RS3 (not pro or mini) it easily handles the zve 10 + sigma + SmallRig cage + Freewell VNDS. Adding a videomic go 2 or wireless go is also no prob, willjust take a bit of extra calibration.
@@djdoubledown nice, will do. Thx for sharing
Did you manage to connect the gimbal to the zv e10 via cable and use the buttons to start recording? Can’t get that connection to work.
Great video! I have just purchased the Crane M3 after seeing this great video and will be using my Canon M50 with the Sigma 16mm lens for my YT videos going forward. I might also upgrade to a Canon M6 MKii in the near future. I am still a new content creator and I believe this gimbal will help me improve my production quality a lot by getting much smoother footage when doing B-roll.
the m3 will defiantly get you some smoother footage. i pretty much always used my old gimbals with my a6400 on my way old videos.
I would like to use a POV mode in vertical camera rather the portrait mode. Do you know if there's an L plate for the M3??
Hi, can you share your gimbal mode when you do the walking test, that maintains the lens view on you? thank you
Pan follow (PF)
@@KyleWattsTV thanks!
Actually helpful video. Thank you.
Glad to help!
Hi Kyle! Thank you so much! But I am wondering if dji rs3mini is better? I want to buy one gimbal for my zve10. Thank you so much!
excellent review! Thank you!
Amazing review. Thanks mare
Can u pls help me!! i think my M3 came defective. My stock mounting plate won't give me a secure lock. I almost dropped my camera is this normal? If you mount the camera to the plate and remove, it is it easy to pull out? That's what mines are doing
There should with the unlock and lock part on the gimbal which attach the quick release plate, did you click it to lock?
Hey, very interesting video ! Can we film in vertical with this gimbal ?
M3 with Portrait mode for option to support vertical shooting.
When you did the "Dog walking test" did you shot it in 1080 60 ?
great video, thank you , I think one of the problem, there is no built-in vertical settings for social media
I believe the new m3s might fix that
wow.. that tubing is awesome. where is that?
Buck hill in MInnesota
Only a Minnesotan would call out their camera gear for not functioning well in - 10 degrees 😂 (Seriously great video - thank you)
You Mentioned The Sigma 24-70. Would A Zoom Lens From Sigma Be Too Heavy For The Gimbal?
Yes. The sigma 24-70 is too heavy for this gimbal.
Hi! Did you manage to control the camera start / stop recording with the type c to type c cable? For me it's not working
You have to use the usb multi port cable and the zv-e10 doesn’t have a micro usb . Zhiyun is supposed to put out the Bluetooth camera control soon for cameras that don’t have a multi USB port.
Bro which camera is best for TH-cam vlogging ? I need ur best suggestion plz 🙏🙏
All of the modern cameras will be good but I like the zv-1 and zv-e10 / a6400. They all have screens that you can flip open and they all have good image quality and the ability to add an external mic for better audio
@@KyleWattsTV tq so much bro ❤ ♥
Great review, thanks
Admire your confidence bringing the camera and gimbal on a snow tube test.
Hi great video, please, could you do one of how to get the functions working like the joystick on the crane m3 🙌?
question if I have active steady shot off and using crane m3 my footage should be smooth right ? no shakiness
Can I Start and stop recording and control zoom wheel with this gimbal? I had the Zhiyun M2 and was able to connect it but I can't figure out this Gimble. Help !!
Damn that Intro was fire!
🙌🏻
Hello
Could you tell me how can I connect my Sony ZVE10 to the Crane M3 for use recording bottom ON/OFF. I can't do it ..
We just fot this and love it! We have the z e 10 and i am wondering, do you think it will hold woth the sony 50-210mm kit lens that the a6400 comes with?
Nice review!
Do you have any recommendations for attaching the mic to the gimbal or a setup to use so you dont have to have to hold it with the other hand
On mine I added a smallrig rotating coldshoe mount that attaches to the side of the gimbal. That ended up working for me
Did you get it on amazon ? Do you think you can give the name of the one you got
@@_LKAT_ I don’t think they make the same one I have anymore but this one is pretty similar

hey mate how you do the actual slow motion cuts? 1080 120fps? or its 4k?
Nice review thanks
can you use it vertically?
Hi, can you control the zoom on the kit lens of the ZV-E10, and/or focus, via gimbal scroll wheel?
I’ve tried the DJI RSC 2 with this camera but not sure how to get controls working and it seems only record button works but not the scroll wheel.
The crane m3 only will start and stop recording. Doesn’t control zoom or focus
@@KyleWattsTV How do you set it up to control start stop record?
@@KyleWattsTV how did you get this to work. I cant get the M3 to start/stop record or take picture with the zve10
That bgm ❤❤❤
How does the Zhiyun Crane M3 handle the Tamron 17-70 on the Sony Zv-E10?
Hi there. Kyle. Will the gimbal motor keep vibrating when you mount the zv e 10 with sigma 16mm on it ?
Make sure you set the motor torque to high and do the auto calibration and you’ll be good
Hello...Is this gimbal compatible with zve10?
Kyle, quick (not really) question.
So, I want to start a TH-cam channel and make vlogs in the style of Casey Neistat and Jesse Wellens, a lot of cuts and transitions, slow mo, color grading, text on screen similar to MKBHD when he does reviews etc…
With that being said, do you think the Base Model 14’ MBP would handle 4K footage from a ZV-E10 with lots of edits similar to Jesse and Casey?
You have to go into the menu and turn on “power on usb” and then use the usb c cable on the gimbal to the camera and it should work
What shooting mode and filter were you using in the snow tubing video?
you can connect the zve10 with CraneM3 by cable or bluetooth to press record button on the gimbal ????
It not support cable connect to control ZVE10, it support bluetooth control unit connect.
Dude i don’t know how to use it, do u have like a first starter video ?
How do you control the camera? I have a zv e10 connected to the Crane via USB C but I do not seem to be able to control the camera
@@KyleWattsTV thanks for the feedback.
Looks nice ......
Beside connecting the camera to the gimbal with the USB cable. What settings in the camera/gimbal do you use to get the record button to work on the gimbal for the Sony zve 10? Can't seem to figure it out
It doesn’t work for me neither
@@808adventureaddicts3 with the new crane m3s it does connect to the zve 10. Unfortunately it doesn't with the M3
@markb6s4 yes. Unless you have the extra Bluetooth module and the combo that has the mic input and Bluetooth adapter. But yes go with the new m3s if you have the zve10
@@KyleWattsTV yes, forgot about that extra feature to make the M3 work that way.
did you say it wasn't balancing on 18-105 or sigma 16mm because i have zv e10 and sigma 16mm and i don't know if it will balance good i can't decide between this and weebill-s
It does balance the sigma 16. The 18-105 doesn’t balance with the gimbal turned off but still works when the gimbal is turned on.
Do u think crane m2 would be ok for sony zv e10?
Sony ZV-E10 is not compatible with Crane M2.
Thanks Kyle.
is this capable of balancing a sone a series with 18-105 f/4 ?
I heard that this gimbal is not compatible with the ZV-E10 camera, since the cables they give you do not connect to the camera, it can be used as such as a gimbal, but do not use those control buttons on the camera, and additionally You must buy camera adapters to be able to control from the gimbal which is an extra investment, and with that extra you could buy a gimbal rather than if it lets you access because it already has Bluetooth, can someone confirm if you found another form of connectivity?
Yes that’s true. But the newer crane m3s has built in Bluetooth and works great on the zve10.
You guys are so cute! 😊
Thank you!! 😊
can I use A7C with it?
Yes, just keep in mind can’t use heavy lenses like a sigma 24-70
