I agree with others that it's expensive, but the industrial design that the accessory package reveals is the secret sauce that makes Televue products competitive. Plus they last a very long time and you can bequeath them to the right person in the next generation.

I bought one of these about 7 years ago for a good price, deal of a lifetime so to speak.
The difference in my setup, i use the 60° everbrite for daytime use and TV Radians.

Hi, will you consider the follow up review?

That is a good idea, I should do another one. I will tell you now, those plastic lens caps are worthless, and I’ve already broken the plastic thumbscrew on the drawtube (though that isn’t really needed much). Optically, the scope is really good and I like using it for viewing sunspots or doing whole disk images of the sun and moon.

@@EarthtoSpaceScience Thank you, I was looking into this model and the 85 version . I just purchased the Celestron Nexstar 8SE but I can't help being drawn to these Televue scopes since they are very reputable and compact. I will however probably invest in the Televue everbright diagonal. To see if there is an improvement in the picture of my scopes.

I’d like to pick up the TV85 at some point myself. The TV60 is great for spontaneous 10 minute observing sessions and it will do a great job on the things it can pull in. But, 60mm is obviously pretty limiting on a lot of deep sky objects. The 8SE will do better on most objects, but it can’t give you a wide field do view, and so that is why I have this one. I have it mounted on my 8” EdgeHD much of the time for that wide field view option. I’d like to eventually have a setup with maybe an Celestron CPC 11 with a TV 85 refractor mounted on top. That would be pretty sweet. The little travel case for the TV 60 that holds a few eyepieces is great and I’ll toss the scope with some eyepieces in there into my travel bag any time I’m going anywhere and take my manfrotto tripod. It is so small and compact you can always take it with you, whereas a larger scope might not be an option, if only because of the larger mount needed. I’ll likely keep the TV 60 even if I pick up the TV85, unless I decide to swap it out with another small 60 mm scope that has a focuser that works better for imaging.

The point is... it's too expensiv for its smal aperture, there are so many other scopes also triplet apos that will beat it.

It certainly doesn’t win from a cost or overall features standpoint but it is super compact and the optics are fantastic.

Not worth it strictly for the optics these days.
