Moon Lake | Is This The WORST Looking Community In Florida?

- Moon Lake...WOW. Is this one of the worst areas in Florida? This place has a poverty level of 32%, an unemployment level of over 164% the National Average, and some of the worst roads in the country. Moon Lake has had a bad reputation over the years as being a rough place but I can definitely see some improvements, and I do hope that trend will continue. Let's take a drive and check it out.
This is a documentary and for educational purposes.
Thanks for sharing this. I live in upstate NY and have never really been anywhere. It's nice to see other areas of the country like this.
not even close, the whole state is literred with trashy towns.
Glad to see your down this way! Plenty of similar looking places in Ocala National Forest communities. Keep these coming.
How much does property cost in that area?
I feel bad for these people. They are probably poor, and they are working so hard that they can't keep up with their homes. 😢
Thank you! Moon Lake just scratched OFF my travel destination list!
It's not meant to be a tourist area. It was land you could pick up very cheap in the 60's-80's. It's not so cheap any more. There are some really nice areas as well. Read my response above.
Moon Lake has been a hell hole for as long as I can remember. Amazing that the county keeps letting this go on.
56 years old. Same... Always been like this.
kinda depressing......would like to see more residents maintaining their property
I think the Gators ate most of the people by now.
Better roads than Scranton, PA!
Interesting! I always look the places up on google maps and look around on street view. Good job with the smooth recording on those bumpy roads!
Great video showing rural Florida! I’m curious what you use for video camera?
stuff like this all over central fla. polk orange lee lake pasco Hillsboro sarasota county and I mean all over.
Looks....affordable.
Don't think I've ever driven through Moon Lake without encountering a small pack of dogs running free. There is an actual lake there
You can tell who cares and who doesn't. Thank you for bringing us along. Didn't notice the floor mats. 😂
I can tell it is not a tourist attraction...
I long for the earth to be transformed into a Paradise and where people will dwell who will care for their neighborhoods. And so we will not see areas like this anywhere in the world.
Outside of the theme parks and beach Florida is just as Southern as Ga and SC
This is what I'd like to do with the rest of my life I swear😍 Cruise every lil town, day/night, nothin but peaceful road adventures 😭🥲
I love the greenery, bt I had no idea there were unpaved roads in FL. I guess they're everywhere.
A few nice roads. But most looked like slums in the swamp land. All those fences that seclude are kind of creepy.
I don't think I saw one business... Wow... This is truly depressing
Its been like this for 60 years in there
I didn't see one person anywhere during that video. Where was everyone ?
Very similar to suncoast estates in lee county (north fort myers) fl. Uncanny the similarities.
Suncoast has busses at least lol.
Greetings from Brandenburg 🇩🇪
👍👍👍👍🍺🍺
Even the occupied places are leaning at crazy angles. I don't know how many of them stay upright.
Finally a place in FL I could probably afford. Maybe even better than some WV Hollers.
Whete is everyone....anyone?????
gifford north of vero beach is pretty close to this.
there was a whole lot of floor mats in the road ...road patches
Depressing...Those are some terrible roads. It's a long way from paradise...
Actually only a mile or two. There's some really nice homes and property right down the road.
My guess is the road with all the rugs on it was probably a feeble attempt at patching pot holes. I didn't count them.
Take a look at Shady Hills, a neighbor community.
Wow. If Moon Lake’s unemployment is 164% over the National average, I wonder how these folks can afford to live there? How do they even get by? The roads surprised me. You’re riding along on a paved road then BOOM. Paved road says: “That’s it. I’m out. Dirt? It’s all yours.” What was up with the floor mats?! Crazy. And those were some serious potholes you went through. Finally, I can’t even imagine what all you’d find back there in those trees…. 😮
Floor mats were probably just an "on-hand" solution to keep from getting stuck in the mud, I see similar uses of plywood on a lot back-roads here in FL
I would have never though any part of Florida would look like this. Some areas don't look bad though.
Every state has areas like this, every state has poor. Always has, always will.
Straight out of a John D. MacDonald novel.
Some of the trucks are worth twice what the houses they're parked in front of are. Reminds me of a couple of areas near where I grew up in Michigan.
My old neck of the woods. Im from vero beach
I grew up right down the road in an area called Kent groves. My wife was from shady hills which is right between the two. We actually use to go to moon lake to party. It was on the way to Port Richey. I live in north central Florida now, most of our dirt roads up here are better than some of the paved ones down there. Growing up in that I thought they kept them that way to keep people from speeding, you sure weren’t going to run from the cops on roads like that!
it's nice to see parts of Florida that haven't been turned into golf courses and strip malls.
You do get around.
Looks nice
Haaa about the floor mats no I missed that 😅
I bet their power gets restored first after a storm...
Pasco County has always been bad.
The people there are probably the nicest in the state.
This is old Florida not the new developments
What's with the Skip bins everywhere :o
6:23 me gusta ese león. Creo que lo tiraron a la basura.
Maybe it's part of the mailbox? 🤔
If in the video of McKeesport, Pennsylvania it looked like a typical slum in Latin America, in this video it is the authentic example of what the average slums in our countries are like, and this is a worthy example. xD
Those people value their privacy for sure. Never see them out. Some have nice vehicles. Too isolated for me. One county north from us, but we have never been in that area.
Looks like every town in Florida
These homes are occupied, not like Detroit. Poor people have to live somewhere.
Not exactly a retirement community.......
dude great vid, i wouldnt take dis roads without a pickup hehe
Didn't places like this used to be called 'ghost towns'?
Huge drug problems throughout the area!
Thank you! 1:42 is this a man on the right?
this kinda looks like where i grew up, normal inland florida
Reminds me of Miami Vice
The last time I was in Florida was 1976😂
Why are there so many fences and gates? Those trailers can't be worth much.
Looks like most of the south.
but the nature is wow. like a Jungle!
So many crappy mobile homes
I bet there was a dollar general less than a mile away.
wow
This looks like a part of Hawaii
You must travel from state to state looking for hoods? lol Come to Philly.
I have Philly up on the channel both day and night. Check them out thanks for watching
No worse than desoto county fl.
It looks worse than labelle
Kap mesin dan gubuk I care about them,
ive seen worse
Love from india
Thanks for watching !
The neighborhood and roads look like this because its in a hurricane zone.
