  • Now that we have established that cardio is not the devil, the question is: how much should you do, when and how? It really depends on your goal. For example, fasted cardio will help reprogram your body to use fat for fuel, whereas post-workout cardio can be used for recovery. Confusing, right? Watch this video to get a better idea of how too best use cardio.

    Where does glycolytic focused training for sustained power endurance fit in as far as muscle protein synthesis? An example being 100 power cleans for time at 135 lbs vs 8x3 power cleans @ 85% of 1 RM. I am curious due to the inverse relationship of cortisol to muscle protein synthesis.

    Couldnt agree with him more. Been on a fat loss journey and I incorporate cardio post lifting which has been beneficial for me as I am not only more agile and recovering fast but also can notice loss of fat. The only limit to all this is that it should be high intensity ..like 10 minutes max.with 5 sprints of 60 seconds ... not more than that.. ..

    .. I am over 60 and have a very average metabolism .. I had never been able to stay lean year long my entire life till recently .. Using a balanced diet with higher protein and moderate carbs, I lost 65 Lbs. in 5 months .. I got very ripped, and won a BB show in 2019' .. I did this with ZERO CARDIO .. After I lost the weight, I hired a coach thinking that I might be missing something and could be even better .. Right away he had me doing 45 minutes of cardio per day .. I only lost a few more pounds of muscle, went flat, and felt terrible .. Today I eat clean, and don't count calories .. I have est. a new body fat set point and instead of bring 70 Lbs. away from contest shape, I am now only 20 Ls. away .. I still do no cardio .. Am I the only person who had such great results by diet and weight training only? It seems that EVERYONE promotes cardio .. Despite my experience, I am still baffled and confused by this

      It's quite easy, diet is the primary driver of weight loss. Lifting gives you more lean mass, which makes you burn more calories just existing.
      Cardio is never necessary for weight loss, it's an accessory. It should be promoted and recommended for everyone because it's got a host of other health benefits. My suspicion as to why you felt like garbage was probably a mixture of too much intensity and not enough calories. Your body doesn't want to burn muscle.

      Mark Pacheco I agree, it’s the amount of carbs for me. Sometimes cardio on top of everything else is just too much. Might burn some fat, at the expense of good recovery.

      Cardio is not necessary. But is extremely good for your overall heart/cardiovascular health.

      Of course you can lose weight with no cardio at all and focusing just on diet and weights, but it will not work forever. Cardio eventually will be needed if you want to get from lean to extra lean. But of course everyone is different and genetics play a big role

      Not rly, facts are outdated, he make it more compicated than it is. Fasted cardio 20 minute will burn Little more fat than nonfasted, but!! If u get Energy ( lets Say even carbs) ur cardio will much more effectiv, you will be faster, more dynamic etc. So you will burn much more Energy compares to Fasted state... Its all about kcal in and out in long run....

      durim187 jacked? No... thinner? Yes...
      But true calories in calories out is perhaps an oversimplification...
      Hormones regulate things...
      But in the end, less calories you take in, more calories your body needs to pull from stores...

    • @durim187
      @durim187 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anthony C i agree with you all but hear me out ok. I am not too fat, i want to lose a bit of fat while maintaining or increasing muscle mass, that is where calories in-out is failing me, because when i get thin i loose to much muscle tone

    If you train 4 times per week and making 3 hours of cycling 1 time per week , did it kill your gains or you can continue to progress on upper muscles without loosing muscle ?

      Go for a walk brah. 60-90mins everyday. Just walk and see what happens. Thats your fat burning zone aka z2 zone. If you do interval after lifting then thats another anaerobic system you trained in lifting. Too much stressed on the body.

    Cardio: Run HARD every day. Thats all. You'll lose fat. But you have to run HAAAAARD and for at least 20 mins. Run til u sweat and breathe heavy. And then run more. Youll lose fat. You can do this before or after workout, i prefer before because it loosens me up for my weights.
