An IQ test for employment is a type of psychometric assessment used by employers to measure a candidate's cognitive abilities and problem-solving skills. IQ stands for "intelligence quotient," and the test aims to provide an estimate of a person's general intelligence.
In an employment context, IQ tests are often used to evaluate a candidate's potential to learn, adapt, and perform well in the job role. They can be a part of the pre-employment screening process, especially for positions that require strong analytical, logical, and critical thinking skills.
IQ tests typically consist of a series of standardized questions that assess various cognitive abilities, including verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, logical thinking, spatial visualization, and pattern recognition. The questions may be presented in different formats, such as multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, or completing sequences.
Candidates are usually required to complete the test within a specified time frame, and their scores are compared to the average score of the general population of similar age groups. The results provide employers with insights into a candidate's intellectual abilities and their potential fit for the job.

4:48 I personally think, that, apart from the corner triangles, the circles do have a pattern: in the A, B and C - the colors of the bigger (pacman-)circle and the small circle are opposite, while their colors in D are the same. 💡💡💡

@@OnlineTrainingforEveryone All IQ tests are highly racist! Well according to the people who dont like the fact some races do extremely badly! this even includes tests that are purely pattern no simple maths! LOL
these question you did are very easy ones!

  • @papaschlumpf5894
    @papaschlumpf5894 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

Well, the circles do have a pattern: The "correct" circles all are different in color, no matter what is what. D has only white circles. So this also leads to the answer: "D is out". (Edit: Oh, I see that others have mentioned that before me)
The problem with such IQ-test-questions is often that the creator has a logical answer in his mind when creating the test but the candidate may be even more intelligent and find a logic or a pattern behind the question that outsmarts the creator. Another example for this:
    Odd word out:
    Tomato, firefighter car, banana, cherry.
There is more than one solution and none is better or worse than the other.
You can sort out the car, because it is not edible.
But you can also sort out the banana because all the others are red.
So in tests like that you often sort out the candidates that are not too dumb but rather too smart. IQ tests are only as good as the one that made them and the one that checks them.
You could minimize that problem in always asking the candidate to "explain your answer" but I have never seen such a question in an IQ test.

    • @hortondlfn1994
      @hortondlfn1994 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I have seen this kind of problem surprisingly often, and there is never a way to explain my choice, nor to show why two different answers could each be correct!

Well thought out response. Read my response to the question at 6:13. My logic is solid, but I fear the question's creator didn't even think of it. He probably didn't have a 155 IQ. My answer of "C" comes from the observation that each of the 4 squares have triangles in the square's corners. In three of the figures opposite corners of the square have the same color triangles. In one figure the square has dissimilar color triangles in the opposing corners. Clearly "C" should be the correct answer. Perfect example of the point you make in your comment.

For the 3rd question about the circles, I thought the pacman shaped thing had to be like "eating" the small circle of an opposite colour. For example, a white packman eats a black circle and vice versa. Answer D had a white pacman eating a white circle. So i found the answer to be D

Maybe it means I'm dumb but I could argue there are multiple correct answers on questions 3 and 5. For example on question 5, If the florist "has" 77 plants, then he has 77 plants regardless if he sold all but 7. If he "had" 77 plants and sold all but 7 then he would have 7 left. Also, the florist could have 84 plants left since he has 77 plants and sold all but 7 from the previous batch or something. The problem I have with IQ tests is there is not enough context given to the questions and the concept of "out of the box" thinking is thrown out the window because only people who think similarly to the test creator or already know the trick behind the questions will have a good test result

9:45 you changed the question. It said “All but 7 WERE sold” and then changed it to “All but 7 sold”. The “were” makes a difference. All but 7 means all of the plants but not 7 of them meaning 70, were sold. So 70 were sold.

I solved the second question in a different manner,
    Taking 1st triangle, 6x2=12, 12+2=14, thus 1,4 in 2nd triangle. then 4-1=3.
    Taking 3rd triangle, 2x3=6, 6+5=11, thus 1,1 in 4th triangle. Then 1-1=0.

What I did in the last problem was to multiply by two, for example 0×2 = 0, 2×1= 2, 2×2= 4 2×3 = 6, 2×4= 8, 2×5= 10, 2×6 = 12 then I added the numbers that I got by multiplying by two that is 2,4,6,8,10,12 and it gave me 42. I think that is another way to solve the problem.

Why is it not a good idea to use questions like the first one in an IQ test?
Because you can find a rule for many (in fact infinite many) values for the question mark. In this situation answer A (5) is also correct.
For each row we have the next rule:
0,03 times the first value plus 0,55 the second value plus 0,22 times the third value is equal to the last value in the row.

There is a second pattern in the first question that yields the same answer, but it’s probably just a coincidence. I looked at how the value changes in the rows from left to right:
    First row
    From 2 to 8 = +6
    From 8 to 7 = -1
    From 7 to 6 = -1
    Second row
    From 9 to 5 = -4
    From 5 to 9 = +4
    From 9 to 5 = -4
    Third row
    From 9 to 7 = -2
    From 7 to 4 = -3
    From 4 to X = change from 4 to X
If you form a new matrix consisting of the change between values, you get a 3x3 matrix that looks like this:
    +6 -1 -1
    -4 +4 -4
    -2 -3 X
Where X is the value we’re trying to find.
If you look at the columns of the new matrix we just made, you’ll notice that if you make both the first and the second element of the column negative then add them together, you get the third element in the column:
    -6 + 4 = -2
    1 + (-4) = -3
If we follow this logic for the next column, we get:
    1 + 4 = change from 4 to X, change from 4 to X = 5
Knowing that the value must change by positive 5, we add 4 + 5 to get our final answer X = 9
Again probably just a coincidence, but still cool.

If you look at each square you will note that opposite angles of the square have the same color triangles in three of the four puzzles. Figure "C" is the odd one out in this group. I scored low in IQ as a child because I found difficult questions sneaky!! I knew smart people were trying to trick me. I basically had a bad attitude and just guessed.😮 But I always had good grades when it was straight knowledge information. Black and white so to speak and I excelled at music. Advanced math was a weak point. I managed a masters degree music.

For the 2nd question I found a different pattern but same answer lol.
If we sum up the 2 upper triangles top corner they add to 6, and bottom 4 corners add to 12, thus 2x
For the bottom two triangles I applied the same logic and since the bottom 4 corners had a sum of 8, the top two corners must be half thus a sum of 4 which is how I got A.

It's funny how I think way more complicated than it actually is. On thr second question my answer wasn't even there yet it made perfectly sense.
I added the highest numbers and subtracted them with the lowest of each triangle.
    Triangle 1: 6 + 2 - 2 = 6
    Triangle 2: 4 + 3 - 1 = 6
    Triangle 3: 3 + 5 - 2 = 6
Logically, the 4th triangle should also equal 6.
    Triangle 4: x + 1 - 0 = 6
I don't think I need an equation for this since you can easily go for 6 - 1 which makes 5 as the 0 has no influence in this particular problem.
So now we know it's 5:
    5 + 1 - 0 = 6
Actually, if there are already answers you have to choose from in which there is no 1 but a 5, it's 5. In this case there is no 5 but 1 so that's the correct answer in this problem.
I always tend to think more complicated because it's my way and I shall learn the way of thinking of the author (creator) of this problem. I think in all the ways possible but they get more complicated too quickly since I don't think of other simple possibilities but in my opinion my way of thinking isn't bad actually and rather more challenging but that depends on the person as for me, I thought of this way first so I can't be the only one. Everyone has their own way of thinking so I'm sure others tend to think of my faster than yours and the other way around.
But personally, the solution you had is more simple, whether it's one's first or last option, it's pretty simple.
    Omg, I really can't stop typing.☠️☠️
    Have a nice day/night!!❤️🌄🌟

For the circle/triangle one, the first thing that caught my eye was that C is the only one with a small black circle. Whereas A,B & D all have small white circles. Is that not a pattern? I hate how I always come to the wrong conclusion. I often end up guessing what the creator of the test is trying to suggest and it becomes psychological when I know it shouldn’t.

#2 is a bad problem because there is another solution. If you add the sum of the numbers in each triangle, the result is not a prime. So the question mark could be represented with c) 3.

I now know why I was extremely good at some in tests while performing very badly on others, the reason is that the ones that I found easily where patterns oriented, contrarily to the others. In pattern oriented is test I would get a nearly 28-29 out of 30 questions, guess I’m a genius at recognising patterns. However there are other factors to determine an intelligent person that you wouldn’t find in any test : strategy and planning abilities.

in test 3 there IS a pattern in the circles.. it's that they are opposite contrast of each other in a,b and c.. and same in d. ALSO in question 5.. the fact that he SOLD them doesn't mean they are non-existant.. so for "being left" you could argue that non dissappeared, they simply changed hands. but i see how you can say 7 is the correct answer.

#1 Well .. I didn't waste ''that much'' time looking at the rows 😝
before I realised that the columns added up to 20
#2 You wouldn't believe how long it took me to start adding up
the numbers from different triangles .. to get 10
#3 D because the circle with 1/4 missing and the small circle
are the same colour .. and the corners are all the same colour
#4 I have to be honest and say that I've seen this one before
    The pattern is +2 +4 +6 + 8 + 10 etc making the answer 42
    #5 You just told us .... 7

If these are the kind of question to test our IQ. Then, to me it is an inaccurate measurement. It test ones visible ability to see pattern, not ability to reason and make sound decision base a given info. If you practice enough of these type of visual question within a day, you can dramatically improve your score . Does that mean you got smarter within that day?

The plant question does not imply that the plants were picked up - just that they were sold. Sold - over the phone or on line - does not take them away from inventory until such time as the delivery is made; therefore a secondary correct answer is 77.

  • @NottaChanceman

There is another pattern to be found in the triangle test. If you look at the lines of each triangle you'll notice the differential of highest to lowest number is a sequence of 4, either 1,2,3,4 or 0,1,2,3
bottom line left line right line
    6-2=4 6-2=4 2-2=0
    3-1=2 4-1=3 4-3=1
    5-2=3 3-2=1 5-3=2
    1-0=1 ?-1=2 ?=3 ?-0=3 ?=3
I know this is a more complicated pattern so your answer is the likely answer but it exists and so an honest answer must include c)3

I get it, but its more flawed than the original answer. You switch places from the numbers you choose in order to get the answer you wish, and also last one starts with 0. Original answer is less complex sure, but also less flawed, making it the clearest answer.

In that type of questions, first find the summation of the numbers along the row and if all other rows are not giving the same value then try it for the columns. As in the first question the summation of the elements in the first column is 20. So the correct answer is 9.

So I'm in a heated debate with my friend over the Florist one. The way the question is worded could imply that Florist also bought all but 7 of their plants because all but 7 were sold. "Sold" could mean that the florist had said plants sold to them as opposed to them doing the selling. The presence of the word "left" indicates that the Florist was the one doing the selling, however, without this word involved, could it be reasonably assumed that the florist also was a buyer instead of a seller? All but 7 plants were sold; could it mean that another entity also was the one who sold said plants?

which square doesn't belong to the group? at 3:54 is a good example for those visuells that holds more than one discongruency being the possible solution in that the third square got a black circle ( the tiny one ), as the other circles are white, so that would also be a conclusive solution, even though it isn't the right one... ...besides you can argument very well on that the inner big circle with the inclusion of 90 degrees has very well a paradigm that is the inclusion firstly moves down by 90 degrees than by 180 degrees, so following this paradigm the odd one out would also be the fourth square since the inclusion would have had to move down by again 90 degrees... ...right?
