I love the rivalry/friendship between Alucard and Anderson. They hate each other, but they also both love to fight, and love fighting each other because they're so similar in different ways. Alexander understands where Alucard comes from. Whereas Alucard... part of him hopes that Alexander WILL be the one to kill him. That one line, "I swore I would not allow another monster like myself to exist in this world" is very important. Combine that with the bit he said to Seras previously:
"I saw in your eyes something I lost long ago: *The will to live."*
Alucard wants to be beaten by a mortal man. That's why he got so angry when he realized what Anderson was going to do with the Nail; Anderson was turning to supernatural strength. If Alucard is a Monster of Satan, Anderson was turning himself into a Monster of God.
Ruining the *one thing* that Alucard wanted from Alexander most.
It's funny. I get where he's coming from.
His _life_ was taken from him- out of his control, and he'd literally be damned if he'd let anyone take his _death_ from him.
Yall should check out the full version of that parody song. I love the idea that Alucard fully expected Anderson to be able to take him out on his own. Which is why he got so mad when Anderson used the nail on himself and turned himself into a supernatural monster instead of a biomechanical Frankenstine's monster.
That's not why Alucard was mad. He was mad cause he wanted, no needed a Human to kill him. A human is meant to fight and kill monsters. But using the nail would turn Anderson into a Monster. A monster that fought for God, but God hated and condemned to damnation. A Monster that is exactly what Alucard was. Which is why they added the line in the Abridge "The same thing we agreed to, all those years ago. As I laid there, betrayed by the lord I thought on my side. Made a monster in his name, I swore I would not let another monster like myself exist in this world."
Anderson became God's Monster, the same as him. Which is why in the original, he cries, and begs Anderson to not give up his humanity, to not become a monster like him. But Anderson ignores him and becomes God's Monster, who would kill all humans on the planet and doom the world to hell. And so Alucard steps in to kill him, as is his duty, his mission, his goal. To erradicate all monsters who dare harm the humans, till the humans are finally strongest enough to kill him, the top tier big bad boss monster. Cause when they can kill him, the strongest monster to exist, they will finally be strong enough to survive all other monsters and tests god sends their way.
THAT is why Alucard is pissed/upset. Cause so many 'Worth Opponents" showed up throughout history. However, they sadly weren't strong enough to finally kill him. And he had hoped Humanity, and Anderson, was finally strong enough to defend themselves from the monsters that lurk in the night.

1.So the main reason Alucard was pissed at Anderson in the original is because , if he was to be killed by him, he wanted him to be human like Van Hellsing was when he beat him. In fact ,that's Alucard's dream for the longest time: to be killed by a noble human warrior ,fair and square.
2. If Alucard is Dracula, then Anderson is basically Frankenstein's monster. As he was enhanced through various experiments to make him the ultimate monster slayer, but with him technically still being human.

As a side note, so you guys may better understand because the abridge doesn’t go much into it, Alucard was extremely upset when Anderson stabbed himself with that nail because he wishes to be killed/defeated by a human. The little speech he gave about not allowing another monster like himself nods to this, he doesn’t want another “monster” to end him and inevitably replace him. Anderson in particular he was so upset about because he did believe Anderson to be someone who could kill him and respected him greatly but after Anderson made that decision Alucard simply couldn’t lose anymore and he saw one of the few chances of his wish coming true go up in smoke.

This has never made much sense. He'd have to kill Alucard millions of times and Anderson was down an arm and heavily wounded. How the fuck was he going to kill Alucard with his regeneration canceled out?
@@bradleybarnett1469 When Alucard unleashes Restraint Level 0, he summons an army of all the people and animals he fed on throughout his life as a vampire, each one becoming a "life" that can be consumed to remain alive. It's an all or nothing move, so he either summons everyone or doesn't. By doing so, he only has one remaining life: his own. So while he may regenerate, if his heart is destroyed, Alucard can and will actually die. It's just that making Alucard go to that point is extremely rare.
Anderson is one of the chosen few that Alucard deems a worthy human opponent to be killed by. He's a seasoned monster hunter with bayonets for days who also has the ability to regenerate (which can be stopped with Alucard's black 13mm hand cannon Jackal) so while he may be down an arm, he is actually one of the few people of this era that can stand a chance against him and get as close to achieving it as he did, thanks to the other Iscariot agents laying down their lives to clear his path. This is gone over in the original OVA where Anderson likens him to a lone king in a castle with no guards.
There's also a full version of the song in the credits. They did really well with it.

This is the first abrided series I ever watched and you know how I found it? I got a video recommended titled: The greatest anime entrance of all times. The video didnt disappoint and got me hooked on the whole series and multiple other ones after that.

Release level 0 basically means Integra was giving Alucard the okay to use ALL of his power and do whatever it took to defeat Millenium and Iscariot.

I was literally years between episode 7 and 8.
Fun Fact: The guy who voiced God was SungWon Cho, a.k.a. ProZD. He is a professional actor, both voice and live. One character he voiced that you should be familiar with was FL4K from the "Borderlands 3" game.
He was recently in the "Blackberry" biopic (about the development and making of the Blackberry series of phones,) as the character Ritchie. If you see any of the trailers, he's the Asian Dude with a deep voice.
If you would like a suggestion of some stuff of his to react to; he has a long series of skits that you could do a bunch of for a vid. Many of the early ones are very short because they started out as Vines, but he does have them put together in a series of compilation videos. He's very funny, and seemingly a really cool dude!

Anderson essentially was the Frankenstein's Monster in this series. It wasn't emphasized in the abridged, and only touched on in the original, but he was essentially modified by the Vatican to be an unstoppable enforcer, and that includes strength, speed, a healing factor, which is how he survived Alucard's shot to the head in the first episode.
Sad thing is, if Anderson hadn't stuck himself with the nail, it's very likely Alucard would have accepted dying to him, because Anderson, while a modified man, is still a man, not a monster.
I always loved the implication from the specific audio effects that Alucard actually set up a massive sound system on the aircraft carrier and actually blasted music through it for his entrance

I've got some notes for ya. ;)
The reason Alucard got so upset with Alexander stabbing his own heart with the nail is because it turned him into a monster, a Monster of God, but still a monster.
In the flashback he vowed that he would not tolerate another monster like himself to roam Earth free. And yet he sired Ceras, which seems a little hypocritical even is she's not quite the monster Alucard is. I suppose Alucard would argue that Ceras even as a full fledged vampire now, still retains some of her humanity and isn't a full monster and is being groomed into a demon hunter herself.
Another thing to note about the Alucard vs Alexander conflict is that while Alucard doesn't actively seek death, he has made a promise to himself that if he were to die, he would die by the hands of a human rather than by the hands of a monster, may it be vampire, demon, werewolf, or an angel. This is another reason why he was so upset by Alexander turning himself into another 'monster'.
The threeway call between Alucard God and the Devil is entirely made up by TFS from the ground up. It was not a thing in the original series whatsoever. They make another entirely new scene in the last episode, but not gonna talk about that further for obvious reasons.
Alucard was able to return to the main land thanks to his ability to control the weather. Not sure if this power extends to water currents as well, but that sun-uva-b sailed a completely wrecked and ruined aircraft carrier from the middle of the ocean back to land precisely where he wanted to be.
And one last thing, the Restraint Level 0. This practically opens the gates of hell wide open, all of the souls Alucard had devoured being brought back on Earth to fight for him, willing or not. You might have noticed that this did not mean that Alucard suddenly became mortal.. Alexander did decapitate him again in this state to no avail, it just made him angry this time around. I believe Integra did mention that there are 10 steps to killing Alucard, decapitating was one of them and getting rid of his #LifeHack is certainly another step, but what are the remaining 8? While it is certainly possible that Integra was saying "Well, that's step 1. What about steps 2 through 10?" in episode 1 ironically, but clearly there was some truth to that statement. This goes to show just how utterly broken Alucard is. Or maybe Alucard can use #LifeHack even with Restraing Level 0? That is another possibility.

I'm quite satisfied how they handled the KKK branch of the crusade. A complete joke from the start and unceremoniously just shot down.

Decapitation is a step. But if you want to kill Allucard, you'll have to identify that his souls dictate how many lives he has. That sucking blood gives him an extra soul. Find a way to count how many souls he has.
Then kill him an according amount of times. All the while making sure he can't run away and replenish those souls.

The fact that Alucard wanted a human to bring his own demise only for said human to become a Monster of God is such a bittersweet irony. My man got robbed.
But he will respect immortals who EARNED their immortality and didn't give up their humanity.
In the manga, when Alucard goes to release restraint level 0, it’s described that a wave of horror and dread washed over all who were there. They all attack out of instinct because they feel the release of a horrifying monster is about to happen and want to kill it immediately.
One of the best entrances of all time!

Anderson was on fire for this episode. So many quoteworthy lines! This was truly his episode, fittingly for a farewell.
Also the next two episodes are such a thing of beauty!
to understand what was going on with the nail. Alexander has essentially an immortal body (or at least mostly immortal) that regenerates itself, and when he stabbed the nail in his heart, containing the blood of christ, his body took that blood and started regenerating Christ within him, which is what lead to the following scenes.
this was the highlight of the series for me to be honest. alucard just gets to go crazy and by extension his VO just gets to say whatever he wants
Fun fact: yup alucard before he died got assaulted A LOT during his younger years so when he said “it was ten years of r***” that really did happen and the abridged made it seek that was the reason he was mad.

I love how throughout the show after episode 4 they didn't play the intro song because Alucard was stuck on the ship, then after he gets back they blast the misic.
Another thing, when Alucard says "Anderson its only been a couple days but feels like years", this is because TFS only made 1 episode a year (which was torture for me)

Dracula was actually what Alucard is like in the original. Of course, the series is so full of crazy expressions that it makes the Abridged version seem accurate.

One minor thing I’d like to add, as it’s never really mentioned in the Abridged version, but everytime Alucard takes a fatal blow, one of the souls he has consumed is released, which means that to truly kill Alucard, you’d need to kill him over 2 million times.
However, when he releases his restrain level 0, all of the souls are given form like seen in this episode, so despite giving Alucard a ton of mindless minions to use, it also makes him incredibly exposed, as each of the minions he falls forth can no longer protect him from death until they’re absorbed once again. This would of course that if he decided to release every single of the 2 million souls to fight for him, he’d die from a single fatal strike.
One could start to wonder just how many souls have been released in this episode alone, and whether it’ll result in Alucard getting mighty close to truly dying in the future episodes.
Fun fact: Satan was voiced by Zach Hadel better known as PsychicPebbles

What I find hilarious is that not even God has the patience for Alucard.
My favorite scene in this series, no matter what, will always be pretty much everything from 13:38 up till Anderson stabs himself.
It's one of the rare moments in this show where you can tell Alucard has been caught more or less entirely flat footed, with his usual joking and playful manner being ignored by Anderson of all people, and is instead being regarded in a completely serious, non-violent manner by the man who, up to this point, has shown little more than a borderline single-minded drive for slaughter of all things deemed unholy. Yet, here, at the very final stretch, he shows more humanity than any other Christian in the show has up to this point, but more than that, a level of genuine faith and belief in the religion he follows that NO ONE ELSE in the show ever has or will show. It's a sobering moment, and it forces Alucard to regard him in a way we've never seen him do so towards anyone else before.
Honestly, Alucard as a character is one that I could talk for hours about, and most of it would be from his dynamic with Anderson. Even now, I have to stop myself here because if I do keep going, I won't stop. I'll find the character limit for a TH-cam comment.

Alucard hates monsters. He wants them all destroyed and gone from this world. And he knows he is the worst monster of them all. To that end, he wants to be killed by a human. This is what enraged him when Alexander used the nail to become a monster himself. He saw Alexander, the one person he thought could kill him, making the same mistake he made. Becoming a monster to kill a monster.
All that being said, Alucard is unkillable. The two million damned souls that he has devoured makes him virtually unkillable. This is why he never acts to defend himself. There is no reason to. Try as you might, you can't kill him. You'd literally have to kill him over two million times to even stand a chance of killing him.

But Alucard used level zero, which sees him empty his vessel of all the souls he has within him to function as a nigh unstoppable army, but it has a price in that as stated by Anderson in the anime, with all those souls now released he is alone with no one to defend him, it's possible to damage or kill him in that state, hence why Alucard almost gives into despair after Anderson transformed and mortally wounded him, and Seras having to plea to him to not give in and save him from himself in the anime, which I kind of dislike that TFS ignores this big moment between them

They will go the distance no one else will, even if it the normal texts say it marks their souls for damnation, in order to square up and fight at the gates anyway!

the thing for me was Alucard and Anderson's interactions. Alucard seems to have a rule, he wants a Human to best him. Anderson wasn't quite that, but.. lets say acceptable enough. he deemed him a monster he had to bring down once he took in the artifact. this wanting to limit other monsters is why He now works for Hellsing. Anderson just wanted to bring him down, but in a sense was similar due to how his order worked.

Great send off to Anderson with the end credits song, and WELCOME BACK ALUCARD!
Ready to Die is what got me interested in Andrew WK. Party, Party, Party is very good, and the way they transition from one to the other in this episode was flawless. You can really feel just how far TFS had grown from a bunch of goofballs having a laugh to making a semi-serious parody of something they loved.
You can definitely feel the passion and skill growth with each episode, and I think this episode is where Hellsing Ultimate Abridged peaks. Episodes 9 and 10 are very good, don't get me wrong, but they're gliding off of the high point that is episode 8 to a strong finish.

Fear unites all.
Alucard's ability to recall and use creatures/people he has consumed is quite literally a broken power. Sure, the downside is that the lives he used as safeguards to his own so he doesn't die from normal means, acting like substitute lives so his doesn't end, is quite a trade off when you realize the millions of souls used as a meat wall that bits back.
And considering his killing people while using it: he can easily get a few lives back during the activation. Kind a cool power that if other vampires used in other media would give them quite the power to overpower nearly any force in their path.

Something interesting about this episode? There's only so much I can look for, but I can't find that conversation between Alucard, God, and Satan in the unabridged version. I'm 90% sure Team Four Star animated that themselves.
They made an actual full version of the track along with other tracks or at least one i believe from DBZA. The Anderson one is a definite worth full react listen though. It would be sacrilege not to, and nobody wants to commit that in the name of everyones favorite eight foot Scottish madman.

As unrestrained as Anderson is, i think of his voice actor, who would always be very straight laced in streams.

14:37 so this is one thing I feel TFS kinda drops the ball with (because it doesn’t fit their rendition of Alucard as well). Alucard has lived all these years wanting to die. He fights because he won’t allow any monster like him to exist in the world, but he wants to die. Not just die, but at a Human’s hand. Alucard throughout the series implies Anderson could be the one to do it. Yet Anderson at the brink of death, like Alucard had, chooses to become a monster. That’s why he’s so pissed. His best hope has just chosen to make the same mistake he once made.

A interesting thing is, Alucard entered London the same way as he did in the Book, by manipulating the Weather, on a ship wheres everyone killed by him, surrounded by mist.
From the entrance, the very queer Satan, Alexanders Rapsong, this Episode was full of treasures, and probably the best in the entire Project.
Not quiet for the religious sensitive ones, but realy well made, whit a lot of great Jokes. Even OG Hellsing Music when Anderson died.

Just a heads up if you cared. Alucard wasn't joking. He was raped by a catholic priest for 10 years as an altar boy. He was a devout Christian, raped by Christians, killed by Christians. It's pretty tragic.
