Sir Integral Hellsing (the long hair blonde woman) is a human which is kind of impressive with her control over Alucard. It was kind of funny in the original series because this is where you find out that Alucard doesn't dodge because he really doesn't need to. He was impressed with Luke and wanted him to regenerate his legs and keep fighting but Luke started to beg and he just got disappointed and killed him.
Well, he THOUGHT Luke was a real Vampire. Like him. But Luke is one of the Science Hybrid Vampires. So he had the abilities of a base Alucard, but not the immense regeneration and other abilities (although it's weird because part of the series in the original was that Alucard's abilities are like... 80% not natural and from experiments that Hellsing did on him, which made him even MORE powerful

@@bradleybarnett1469 I think you're wrong about that. All Hellsing did was put restraints on his power. Basically allowing him to control his power and making him easier to control as well.
@@bradleybarnett1469 It's the opposite. Hellsing put *limiters* on his power, similar to Freeza's transformations. By releasing each level of restraint, he could access more of his strength, with the final level Zero unleashing his full fury.

There's one part of this episode that is way funnier in the original. When Jan reaches the room where Integra is, she just calmly says "Congratulations, you made it" then they proceed to obliterate him as we see here.
There's a reason Alucard listens to Integra in the original.

For context, the reason why Saras Victoria goes in the blood rage is because even though she’s a vampire, she still refuses to drink blood. She still very self conscious about that and thus starving herself. When she’s around blood and violence it sends her vampire tendencies into overdrive. But it’s not only that, but Saras feels arousal when shes about to feed and it for lack of a better term sickens her. Remember what I said about this show taking from early interpretations of vampires and Dracula particularly? This is another takeaway from those exaggerated by the medium of anime to the point that its something new.
Yeah.....but this series doesn't do a great job of explaining WHY things happen so it's confusing.

@@darcys842 DBZA is full of enough context clues and has a simple story to be very easy to follow. On the other hand, Hellsing Ultimate Abridged is a parody of an anime that’s a remake. So a lot of the context you would normally get is lost do to expecting the audience to understand the first show. As a result, the Abridged series has no context and the clues are really vague. So it’s even easier to not understand what is going on. This is one show I would recommend seeing first before watching the Abridged series.

The Boss woman is called "Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing". A desendent of Abraham van Hellsing who killed Dracula. And Policegirl is Called Seras Victoria.

Actually for the Abridged series, they toned Jan down some. He was worse in the original series on top of not being as funny.
They turned up the vulgarness and toned down the psychopathy
Integra Hellsing is a descendent of the OG Van Hellsing. I think its E3 or E4 that sheds light on how Alucard and her's relationship started.
This episode was meant to discomfort you to a degree with the dark skinned bro's use of language and what he does to that guy over the phone.

I was so looking forward to this episode, just because everyone universally agrees that several minutes are immensely uncomfortable, and on purpose no less. Always makes for a good react video.
Thankfully Integra gets more and more interesting through the series. Can't wait for episode 3

I don't know if you noticed it, but Alucard in this episode sounded soooooo much better compared to the previous episode. There is a reason for that, aside from the fact they had a year between releases.
In between episodes 1 and 2, Takahata101, the actor for Alucard, went through surgery to fix a deviated septum he'd had since he was a kid, and that corrective surgery VASTLY improved his deeper voices, including all the forms of Cell. Additionally, he changed how he played the role. In episode 1, he leaned more towards how Crispin Freeman played Alucard in the OVA, but here he leaned more towards the Japanese actor, who just played him like a crazy old man, which Alucard is.

Jan Valentine is a lot. But then again, not much they could do about parodying him, he's basically the same as in the original show xD This is about as horrifying as Hellsing Ultimate Abridged gets imo, the phone call was genuinely impressive in how disturbing it was. It's also a marked improvement over the first episode. Like no matter how horrible that call is, the writing is impressive. As usual with TFS, they tend to improve over time although the first episode of Hellsing Abridged is of higher quality than the first couple of episodes of DBZA.
I'd say episode 1 of Hellsing sits pretty firmly in early DBZA season 2 territory. Like, roughly on par with DBZA episode 14-15 or so. It still relies on pop culture references and doesn't quite flow. Hellsing episode 2 is closer to mid season 2 quality, episode 20 or so. Using pop culture still with that adventure time reference, but they're getting the hang of their characters and setting a more cohesive tone. Starting Hellsing episode 4 or 5, we've easily entered DBZA season 3 quality.
id say the "a few willing vollunteres" is the most extreme they get.
The scene towards the end of episode 7 is pretty disturbing/uncomfortable too. Not going to spoil anything, but there are still a couple of times it gets REALLY dark in the series
So, Jan is basically unchanged from the original, while Alucard is the polar opposite of the original.
Also, Alucard wasn't dodging because he didn't want to. 90% of enemies can't challenge him even in his suppressed state. In the original, the fact that Luke was doing as well as he was impressed Alucard and released his first restraint. He hoped Luke was still holding back and wanted a good fight. His whole speech isn't so different from the original. Then, Luke called him a monster. This disappointed Alucard, and when Luke went on to call him a dog, Alucard replied that if he's a dog Luke is "dog food".
And I may be evil. I still find the guard reading Jan's speech hilarious.

I'm super excited to see your two reactions in the later episodes. The later episodes become so much more better. FYI the younger brother the abridged version is not to much different from the actual one in the show. He's supposed to be hated right from the get go and I believe they nailed it with his voice actor.

Thing about Jan is that they didn't really change him that much form his show counterpart. In fact, he's pretty much the same. This show in general has dark undertones, but they do a good job in making it as light hearted as possible. But occasionally you will still see some of that dark peak in to keep the spirit of the show alive.
Incase you haven’t put it together yet, Sarah Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing is the last surviving descendent of Van Helsing the famous vampire hunter from the England’s Victorian era. Played but the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Hugh Jackman, Peter Cushing, and Mel Brooks in Dracula Dead and Loving it. And she’s only 22.
Fun Fact: There are no Dairy Queens in England. This has a few implications. 1) Diary Queen tried to expand into England, 2) Alucard found the one single DQ after trying to paint an antique car red with goat blood, and 3) They decided afterword that it wasn't worth the effort to push into the English Market.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the younger brother and Android 17 having the same voice actor. Quite a change from playing a sassy, confident, cybernetic teen to a sick, sadistic, and psychotic vampire.
I love cannons too, specially this B***h with her cannon. This weapon's name is rendered as "Hallconnen", but actually pronounced "Harkonnen" and is a reference to the primary antagonist of the novel Dune, Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (the spelling discrepancy is the result of the Japanese pronunciation of "Hallconnen"). Totally awesome. As a human she won't be able to handle this weapon.
Same goes for Alucard's new black gun called "Jackal"
Alucard's second handgun was the Jackal, which was also made especially for him. The Jackal was made by Walter after Alucard's first encounter with Anderson - in fact, it likely was specifically designed with him in mind, considering the phrase "Jesus Christ is in Heaven Now", a variation on a similar statement on Anderson's equipment, was engraved on the side. The Jackal had an overall length of 39cm (the same length as the Casull), was made from pure silver, and weighed 16kg.
The George Lucas joke comes from the original episode, where he said "Millennium" before dying. They were later investigating what's "Millennium", and only found Star Wars club named after Han Solo's ship "Millennium Falcon"
The blonde "Vampire" lady is Integra Hellsing, and she's actually not a vampire, just a regular ole human.
As I mentioned in the previous video comments, TFS has gone on the record that this was their darkest episode.
Now take a breathe, cause you two made it through this episode. Can you BELIEVE people actually said that TFS couldn’t abridge this series cause it was originally too long and DAAAARK? I think they did a good job toning it down. 😂
Couple things. Yes like everyone has stated jan was way more dark in the original, also lady Hellsing is not a vampire but the descendant of Abraham Van Hellsing. Also if you didn't notice the voice of Jan was also android 17

You know, the funny thing is, they didn't actually change Jan Valentine's character at all. He is pretty much the same as he is in the original, crazy as that may sound. They obviously gave him some different lines but stayed very true to his original version.
Also, great reaction overall, but I wanted to point out that just watching Bethany's facial expressions during this episode was a treat.

fun fact the voice actor that does police girl, does her voice in from of a mic just in front of her computer. Usually people are in a booth, or in a make shift closet type booth for the sound. Once you finish the series she has a video up of her doing lines, and it's so surreal.

Air Integra is a descendant of Sir Van Helsing, the legendary monster hunter. Her family was charged with overseeing and caretaking for Alucard. I love that you guys keep an open mind and your reactions are genuine.
I think something to appreciate is just the jump in audio/editing quality from episode 1-2. Which makes sense cause these were done essentially a year apart each.
As for the dark humor the writers have flat out said they love dark humor, and went all out here.

Nothing too major about this episode, but there is one neat thing to note.
Every scene where the Police Girl is the focus, TFS uses Rob Zombie as the background music for her.
Different songs, but it's always Rob Zombie. Can't say I dislike, or disagree with the choice, it suits her.
And I do agree with your sentiment. Episode 2 is easily the most crass of Hellsing Ultimate, but that's Jan Valentine for you.
Like others have already pointed out, he's even worse in the original.
Thankfully episode 3 onward the writing REALLY takes off for the Abridged version.

Everyone feels that way about Jan, but they're really just being faithful to the source material lmao. They didn't change his character AT ALL.
“Bitches love cannons” was about as wide spread as “mahogany” for a good while. And please. Alucard is a mix of Cell and Mr Popo. Horrifyingly powerful, horrific powers, eats people and usually too stoned or uncaring to get involved. Unless he has a “challenge”.

Just to help clarify the names, Alucard's boss is Integra Helsing and the "Police Girl" as she's referred to is Seras Victoria. Unlike DBZA, it helps to have a grasp of what these characters names are before watching HUA as they aren't exactly introduced fully or have more than 1 character calling after a specific one like in DBZA.
We warned you guys that this show got dark. And sadly, this isn't even the darkest it gets.

Ok so Vampire rules in this show
If a vampire bites you, you become a ghoul (zombie)
Unless you're a virgin, and of the opposite sex (I think), then you become a vampire
Then there's also a bunch of artificial vampires which is what you'll mostly be seeing in this series
So the blond one with the glasses is Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, the leader of the Hellsing Organization, whom answer to the Queen. Sort of their "Supernatural Hunters" of sorts. The Police girl is Seras Victoria and things just get more intense, but also more hilarious later on. As for the whole Alucard seeming to get his ass beat and then come back, it's kind of his thing. He has a certain love for allowing his opponent to think, feel and believe they have the upper hand and are better/stronger than him until he turns around shows nothing they've done works as a way of inducing the most about of fear and hopelessness on them before absolutely destroying them as a manner of obtaining some sort of twisted joy from the monsters who hunt others.

There is 1 major note. Walter, the butler teamed up with Alucard during the WW2 to prevent the Nazi's first attempt at creating a vampire army in Poland.
So this is not the first dance neither Alucard, or Walter has had with these people.

Trust me, this is one of the few super dark episodes, and it's the only one with this super uncomfortable joke
Don't worry, the series get's much much better (and the episodes aren't bad or anything). The next episode introduces a character who is really good. And yes, as the series progresses, you will come to love both Serras (police girl) and Walter. They are both next level!
the younger brother was actualy like that more or less in the anime he is a horrific person total phycopath. but in fairness in this vampires are literaly hellspawn so it fits
alucard is still one of my favorite abridged characters "bitches love cannons" is an amazing quote, yet not the best in the series somehow

I think that in order to understand this series better, you'd have to watch the anime, maybe to get an even better picture, to understand even more (let's say 100%) you'd have to read the manga.
In my opinion, this abridged series is harder to understand and watch without watching the original anime, well either of them.

I always argue that Walter's line 'I shall do exactly as the butler does, and tidy up...' sealed this version as more badass than the original.
and something noone seems to get, when Juan said the one who sent him was Nazis....none of those three, who knew Alucard said it was the Nazis, want to admit his dumb as hell guess was right. That's why they all said they heard something different, to claim none of them heard him right.
