I don't buy that it's more aero without some kind of indepedent aero tunnel testing. I think they were able to make the claims that it is "just as aero" as the previous madone because of the water bottles that fill in the bottom section of the main triangle of the frame. That being said, I bet if you got some aero bottles on the gen 7 madone it would likely be more aero. I think this is more of a bussiness move to avoid having so many different frames to produce, and the marketing team needed to find a way to make it seem like a good choice. They also used to charge $3400 CAD for the emonda SL5 and now the Madone SL5 is $4800. $1400 extra for what? A speed hole and arguably more aero tubing that might acount for 5 watts at like 45km/h? Again, I'd like to see some proper aero testing but this just seems like a marketing scheme to improve bussiness.
Totally agree about them only doing this to reduce SKU's, but assuming its even reasonably fast it should still be at least a 10 watt improvement on the Emonda. Tour tested the 2023 Emonda at 222 and the 2023 Madone at 207. Assuming the new Madone is 210ish (a little slower than SL8 and RCR) it should still be a decent savings. Honestly given how slow the Madone is compared to other aero bikes maybe it's a good thing trek is giving up on full on aero.
I don't think people who are claiming Trek did this to save money do realize that trying to combine an aero bike and a climbing bike that also is nice to ride actually is way more complicated than "simply" making a super light climber or a heavy aero rocket. The reason Trek did this is purely that it makes MORE SENSE. You can't just switch bikes in the middle of a race, and apart from time trial, where the riders will use neither the Madone nor the Emonda but the Speed Concept, you always will need a bike that is both aero AND light. This simply was the next logical step.
The di2 wire at the rear deraileur is a bad joke. Havent seen a heavier more ugly bike than this in a long time. The gen 7 was a gorgeous weapon. This thing is dead on arrival.
Not really a fan of TREK but this has really caught my eye.
So much to love -the colourway, the gruppo & the price!
Great vlog mate. Keep it up 🤘🤘🤘
wasn't the front wheel resting on the ground when weighed, or maybe just the camera angle.
140$ for the aero bottles?? Thats ridiculous!Should come come with the frame if they are such a big feature of the bike.
thats trek for you.

Exactly, Trek is going to whine how sales are down but do this

8.4kg with the front wheel on the ground!!! That's one heavy bike.
Did they forget the TREK logo or is this cost & weight savings😅 the rear derailleur cable seems under tension, but other than that a nice ride...
The logo is actually at the bottom near the bottom bracket. Granted the logo is way too small so unusual from Trek
Just ordered mines xome next week!
No way this is as aero as the Gen 7 Madone.
Tested in the wind tunnel with narrower bars probably
@@matkrek and Aero bottles. No idea why I should buy this over a Tarmac or Pinarello
@@psnSupergrobi10 well I wouldnt say Pinarello has done much for innovation either. Specialized and Cervelo nailed the expensive aero bike
@@matkrek Well yes but I prefer Rim over disc so pinarello is really the only choice tbh
@@psnSupergrobi10 same thats why I build a Winspace T1550 rim
Mate, this was so hard to watch with all the camera shake.
The SL6 ML actually is 8,16 kg. Those park tool scales are not too accurate.
Thanks for the vedio
Can you give me the boxs dimensions and weight
Which size is it?
im willing to bet the new frame is not just NOT LIGHTER but actually heavier. trek lies on every single component and frame weight by 15%+
105 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈 only joking nice rig, preferably would like dura ace, or ultegra
Marketing stunt with the weird shaped back? Haven't seen any research about it being faster
I can’t Stand that they put the di2 wire in the rear in the middle of the chain stay. For that reason alone i wont buy this bike

same design for SLR gen 8?
Change wheelset, sorted. It’s obvious that the previous version was too heavy…
This model is the end of trek ideas
