It's crazy how people will cry about a couple grams, yet I gap people on builds that cost more than a car with my Checkpoint ALR 4 on knobby 40" with a bar bag full of camera gear, a half frame full of food and my 14lbs dog in a backpack while going uphill. This build is gorgeous and I would 100% rock the hell outta that!
I have to say, it's really refreshing to see a manufacturer saying "no" to endless proprietary everything while saying "yes" to standardization, ease of use, and interoperability with common standards (that and keeping immediately obsolete equipment out of landfills). Oh wait, I'm sorry that's in an alternate universe.
I just picked mine up. An amazing machine. My gift to myself. It floats down hill and climbs like a dream. My goal is to become 20 years younger so I can really make the bike perform up to its' capabilities.
My circa 2022 trek Boone (OCLV 600) CX bike with ultegra di2, carbon bars, ceramic BB, and maybe the same saddle, weighs the exact same as the bike in the video, 7.78 kg. Mine was weighed without bottle cages. Mine is a 58 cm, with carbon bontrager Aeolus elite 35 road wheels (~1700gr) and challenge tubeless tires. I have to conclude that trek did basically what they claimed with gen8, make the Madone as light as an Emonda.
@@ks-vq5er Please don't forget it's only Ultegra, a heavy wheelset and bottles. There is quite some room for a healthy weightloss if you want to climb up a few mountains 😉
Could you tell me, which tool you used on 7:05, to tighten hydraulic hose nut? I have spanner which can be attached to Torque Wrench, but this tool looks so much better!
It’s what puts me off all the preassembled big brand bikes, you need to rebuild it to put more than the minimal amount of grease, and cut the steerer. And, the bike needs to be rideable to weight it.
@@roadbikechannel I really love it. A very satisfying sound! Not like the one I bought from a very popular brand that I'm not going to mention, but I'm very disappointed with that wrench.

Love the build, I've got a question though! I'm also doing my first self-supported build and I'm looking for that slotted nut/adaptor for the brake hose bolt like shown at 7:05... Could you name the tool or at least the brand? It's not Wera is it?

7.78kg without pedals is a tank!
Ultegra?

too bad its not a top spec build!!!

At least it's not BB90. My trek Boone CX has BB90. Seriously gorgeous bike in this video tho. If I had an extra $9000 sitting around I'd buy one.
Did you cross the cables ? Coz have a big time doing it, also with a RSL bar. It's just sooooo tight there

name of the tool for the headset alignement?
Hello :) how much the torque for derailleur hanger? In general on UDH theres 25Nm information but it's not too much??

Does anyone know the part number for the computer mount?

Whats the purpose the weighing everything piece by piece?
to have the real weight of the parts and especially of the frame. Otherwise it's not really possible to compare it to other bikes.

yes, chain guide. trek is mounting those since a few years 👍

Take in consideration frame size. Usually they give the weight of a 54 frame (Medium Large).
And don't forget the paint, choosing colors over an all black frame makes quite a difference as well.
With the fancy design, it attracted more paint thus making it more heavier
Less aero than a madone and heavier than an emonda 🙌The new madonda, most pointless bike of 2024 😂
