When smoothing out that proseal, a soapy water mixture and finger will do wonders. Much better than using a stick.

Thanks for the tip. I suspect I’ll need it for wing 2.

I’ve been on the build just not filming everything. You know how much extra time that adds and I don’t have it right now.

Love that you enjoy the Aircraft Specialty products, but small note, not sure if it really matters but our wheel chocks are CNC cut not lazer (that would be a fun machine). But im excited to watch you build and cant wait to see it completed.

Would you mind sharing why you are running your fuel lines out of the trailing edges of the wings?
Like you, I am very likely going to be using a Viking engine in my SD. I am guessing that you are doing it so that you have a straighter shot to the header tank that is behind the cabin bulkhead. Can you confirm my thinking?

Great question, watch episode 51 to see more details but I didn't want the fuel lines entering the plane in the forward cabin so having them route through the trailing edge of the wings has them entering just aft of the cockpit and where my fuel valve is located. Hopefully, you'll never have to use the Chemseal again ... it always looks messy but it works! Haha! However, a tip for anyone else having to apply it: You don't need a special caulking gun - you can use the cartridge in a regular caulking gun by putting a large socket (that will just fit inside the cartridge) on a socket extension and use that as a plunger in a regular caulking gun - works great!

Great tip! I might need it for wing tank 2?....

Wiring and fuel lines, Always run the wires above the fuel. that way a leak won't drip on the wires.

The balloon idea for leak checking is flawed from the standpoint of physics. Air in the tank (and balloon) cools over time and hence volume decreases along with pressure.

Yeah didn't work too well. Best just to fill with a few PSI and bubble check for air leaks. Any other tips?

I keep a can of shaving cream in the shop to spread over my tank welds. That looks like a really hard TIG job to do for me or anybody I know. Thin tank skin bleeds heat off fast and cast piece holds heat but takes way longer to get it there.
