There's actually no reason to fly the DFC90 in "GPSS" mode if it's run by an Avidyne PFD. Just leave it in NAV all the time and forget about the autopilot modes. This way you never have to switch the A/P to NAV for approach. GPSS is completely useless in this setup.

Thanks for the reply, but not exactly the best thing to do as it will not fly holds unless in GPSS as the CDI on the PFD will only display the inbound track to the holding fix, so the most useful way to use it it GPSS for GPS tracks and NAV for Ground based Nav Aids. But each to there own.

@@johnpage8364 Sorry, John, but that is not correct. It will fly EVERYTHING in NAV mode, but also all approaches IF the installation is the same as in the SR22 (IFD/GTN, WAAS, DFC90). This has been discussed on COPA for ten years. I have my DFC90 since 2013 and it flies all Holding Entries correctly from the IFD440 (same for GTN and GNS/W). On my PFD it shows the complete entry also.

Thanks that’s great. You should tell that to the aircraft I was flying today. Because it doesn’t. 🤷‍♂️. Not all installations are alike.

@@johnpage8364 Send me its eMail and I will! :-) Sorry for that, but it is really strange that it doesn't behave that way. Maybe it has to do with the SW version of the PFD?
