A Short Introduction Of The New Yamaha PSR-SX920 Keyboard

- Hello everyone.
Over 5 years have passed since Yamaha has launched 2 keyboards in their new PSR-SX range which replaces the older PSR-S range, they were the PSR-SX700 and PSR-SX900, and now those 2 keyboards have been repaced with the newly launched PSR-SX720 and PSR-SX920.
I was able to have the opportunity to have a short hands on and have a video made of myself playing the Yamaha PSR-SX920 so I will be able to release the video on the day of launch.
You could consider the PSR-SX920 to be a 'baby' or 'mini' Genos 2 as there will be styles originated from the Genos 2, and there is some some new styles exclusive to the PSR-SX720 and SX920 as well.
This is going to be a short video introduction of whats to come in my future videos, the sounds and styles are fantastic for this range of keyboard, and the PSR-SX920 is the very first keyboard in this range to feature Super Articulation 2 technology that was originally introduced in the Tyros 3 from 2008, and now finally Super Articulation 2 has made it to the mid range keyboards (PSR-SX920).
I am looking forward to getting my PSR-SX920 very soon and have already sold my PSR-SX900 whilst waiting for the replacement PSR-SX920 to be in stock!

There are some exclusive styles, you will see some Genos 2 styles as well

I would pay good money for a nice successor to my DGX-670; something very similar to this keyboard: but with VRM versions of the C7, CFX, CP-80, Uprights, & Character Grand pianos.

i wish Yamaha would make 88 weighted key versions of these models. They can do that for their montage series, but not for the PSR SX. The DGX line still lacks a lot of the styles and chord looper which are only found on the PSR SX line. A lot of us prefer weighted keys.
@@seiferalmasy157 that is where the CVP range comes in, those are the 88 key equivalent
I would also like a Yamaha arranger but with 88 GHS keys, evolving the DGX-670 with the features of the SX920, or creating an SX1000 (for example) with the features of the SX920 but with an 88 GHS keyboard.
The CVP range are keyboards that are very heavy and too big.
I thought we were going to have to wait at least until 2025 for new successor models to the
PSR-SX700 and PSR-SX900. We have finally got Super Articulation 2 on a mid range keyboard.
@@LittleRichard1988 I thought so too, usually takes 2 years after a flagship keyboard for Yamaha to bring out a mid ranged keyboard, and yes finally, SA2 voices has made its way to a mid ranged keyboard!
I have a question. Will you be showing off everything on this keyboard like you are doing with the Genos 2?

@@soulgirl62 hey Tracey, it’s just as good, obviously you won’t get every sound and style, but it’s great for a mid ranged keyboard that is half the price of a Genos 2

Wow. Are these new drum samples? Or did the older version already have those "synthwavey" drum sounds (Linn etc.)?
You still have the same 80s drum kits as on the Genos 1 and 2, but there are lots more sounds compared to the SX900, 250 new sounds mostly from the Genos 1 not so many sounds from Genos 2, but there are many styles from Genos 2 as well at a more affordable price

@@aljosa212 if that’s what you prefer, get a genos, still a fantastic keyboard which I used to have, I now have a Genos 2 and will be getting the SX920 soon
@KeyboardKrazy49 yes but you get much more with Genos 1 than with this instrument. It has 75 SA2 voices and sx920 just 15 and more than 50% of them are sax instruments, and none of the nylon gitars are, which i personally find stupid. Also much more SA1 voices. And the overall build quality is better on the Genos. Only if you can find a good one.
@@aljosa212 although what you say is true, but you mustn’t forget that this is a mid ranged of the Genos 2 (mini Genos 2) so you’re not going to get everything from the flagship keyboards and this is the first mid ranged keyboard to feature SA2 voices which to me would be a good selling point, and it is half the price for those that don’t have the funds for a Genos 2, it also doesn’t have the revo drums from Genos 1, but the drums still sound brilliant, there are some new drum kits along with the existing ones from the SX900, so to me it’s a good upgrade, and it’ll definitely be worth the upgrade for someone exchanging one of the older PSR-S models would be a huge step forward.

@@Danitjacob-7 the main difference is sound quality, there are new sounds including Super Articulation 2 which is a first for a Yamaha mid ranged keyboard, more assignable buttons, twice the expansion memory of 2GB (1GB on the SX900) and much more

@@madboy5067 that’s what others may think, maybe when you get a chance, have a play and explore the keyboard then you have have the final say whether you think it is an improvement… or not, in my opinion for this range of keyboard, it is a fantastic piece of kit, may not be as good as the Genos 2, but a lot are forgetting that it is half the price of the Genos 2 but it does have some Genos 2 features onboard
