Kaja - Thank you for Oaxaca City - I spent a few weeks in Oaxaca State driving through from Huatulco to Tamazulapan - it was perfect weather and interesting - visited the mom of a good friend. Oaxaca is economical and some towns are more remote and primitive in infrastructure, but the people were amazing. Thanks for your interesting perspectives.
Visit the archeological sites such as Montealban and Mitla or zaachila which is famous por its icecream and its gastronomic market. This places are very close to center of Oaxaca

about the safety, I go to Mexico almost two or once a Yr, and so far Thank God nothing happened or got robbed using my phone or GoPro to film, but of course always be alert but, here in the States I got robbed 3 time.. Mexico 0 but yes Mexico is Beautiful and its has little bit of each Country in one. "como Mexico no hay dos"
Your phone may not be as great as your camera was, but to a "typical viewer" the quality of this video is great. So maybe it could be better somehow, but I couldn't imagine what is wrong with this phone version.

Great memories of OAXACA CITY. The violence in Mexico has unfortunately tainted the entire country but there are some amazing places to discover. And the food.. I can almost taste it.

I'm from Oax, and you must be cautious when you walking down and crossing streets because some drivers are crazy. Welcome to the poorest state of Mexico and land of handmade.
I'm from Oaxaca and lemme tell you people it's as beautiful as this video showed it, however it is just like that in the tourist places where government forces the people to keep it apparently perfect in order to raise the visits but in fact the local people of this city like street vendors , vagabonds, poor population and others are treated less than mere objects. So yeah visit this city full of color, bright and kind people but do not only see what the the State and government institutions wants you to see. Little by little we can make a change so please also take a look on the other hand.

My wife and I were just in Oaxaca for 6 days. I enjoyed all those things but in just wandering, we found ourselves by the river which smelled like we were beside a huge open sewer. I think we were. Then, we were walking along a street with a concrete median where there was a big pile of garbage. There was a guy adding his trash to it. He could have left it in the bag but instead emptied his trash from the bag and took off. I live in Mexico and love it but this was the most disgusting site I have seen.
Please repost legitimate complaints like this. After reading the comments from some fellow Mexican viewers here, there seems to be good consensus that the government prefers to listen to concerns that foreigners have over their own fellow Mexican citizens themselves. (Yes, the Mex government will not admit it, but YOU have more power to affect progress, make changes, and get things done than most of us ordinary Mexicans, so THANK YOU in advance for voicing your concerns for us--far too often it appears that depending on YOUR activism is or may be the ONLY way we prosper.)
