We just watched your video, next thing I know my wife says we won’t need a car when we’re there (I didn’t know we were going…). Sometimes selling a destination to my wife can be a challenge. Thanks and keep the videos coming!!!🎉
Thank you both for this great, more in-depth video of Oaxaca, and also for thinking of us female solo travelers - much appreciated! And now that I have watched to the very end: how sweet of you to support that young artist there, you picked a cute drawing! 👍🙏
I am so happy you had such a great time in the magical city of Oaxaca. My spouse and I have visited twice for wonderful vacations. What is fabulous about Mexico is there are even more exciting places to visit! You will find the food up north is different, though equally delicious. And…eventually you will catch on that Mexican food isn’t quite what is served in “Mexican” restaurants in the United States-which I do like, but is really Texas Mex. I look forward to future videos in this amazing country.
So of course I’ll give it a thumbs up. Haha. Always do! Really informative video once again. So sorry that our calendars didn’t sync. That was disappointing for sure. Anyway, keep doing what ya do guys! And Brian…your humor…love it!
Great video brought back many happy memories for me. I lived in Mexico for 3 years and Oaxaca was my favorite city. I hope you get to cross the mountains and see the coast also, it’s really beautiful.
I was last in Oaxaca 12 years ago. I heard it has gotten more touristy in recent years, which was quite evident in your last two videos there. I've traveled all over the world and Mexico is still one of my favorite countries. I think psychologically being close to home (USA) and knowing some Spanish helps too. Thanks for the videos!
This is my first video I've watched about Oaxaca and you two did a great job! We're headed there this December for 10 days and great to get a feel for the area. Thank you.
@@BrianandCarrie That's the plan. My husband has tackled the 7 Moles at home plus some so he is very excited about eating that everywhere while we are there.
We love Oaxaca. We were there for 3 weeks last March and it was really hot!! 95 degrees most days. In the summer it starts cooling off with the arrival of the rainy season. A bit counter intuitive 😊
Oaxaca is high on my list of places to visit in Mexico. I have been to several destinations in Mexico and just love it. I will be in Cabo and Puerto Vallarta in November. Look forward to following your Mexico series!
@BrianandCarrie Yes, I do but have been very inconsistent with it, but I am trying to take it more seriously. I have several trips planned between now and the end of the year. I'm 45 and want to be traveling full time in 2 years. I am hoping TH-cam helps me get to the monthly budget.
Carrie, I am impressed with your Spanish pronunciations! Brian, you have some work to do! And you guys got robbed with those purchases (hat and skirt). I would’ve gotten it down to half price at least! Just kidding, it’s still a great price and Brian, you’re rocking that hat! You’re amongst my people, enjoy the real Mexican hospitality! Visiting Oaxaca is in our future plans
Enrique!! Nice to hear from you!! I think I have what's called a foreign language speech impediment! 🤣 I really wish I had learned Spanish when we were in high school. 😔
Glad to see you’re enjoying your stay. I would have to go with someone if I ever go. I love those kinds of places and love street markets. My favorite city for street markets is Florence, Italy. I’d love the food for sure, Mexican food I’d never tire of, could eat tacos everyday.
Another excellent travel guide video! I've learned about places on this channel that I had never heard of (Brno is a good example) and this is one of those places. Question - is there a language barrier of any kind? Cheers!
Not as many English speaking native Mexicans as in places like Mexico City, Guadalajara, etc., so you will fare better with at least some simple Spanish. Also the translation apps for your mobile phone can break the barrier for basic needs.
Thank you! Yes, there is a language barrier in Oaxaca. But Flannelshirt is correct. Google Translate app works great and its free. The people are also very friendly, and you are able to get an understanding quickly.
Hopefully you’ll be there for Day of the Dead - an amazing experience. Also must see the outlying villages, each known for its own craft expertise. Disfrute
@@andreablack4573 One reason is that the federal government raised the minimum wage by 20% last January. So of course businesses have passed that increase in their labor costs on to the consumer.
Nice guide to Oaxaca. One other thing Oaxaca is known for is organized labor and, sadly, strikes. There is no Uber there because the Taxi union has successfully kept them out (sadly, with some violence) . When we were leaving Oaxaca our Taxi ride to the airport took 45 minutes because the driver had to take a convoluted route to avoid the streets blocked off due to a strike. Tlayudas absolutely rock!
Love Oaxaca! The people, the food, the culture....it's got it all! Are you guys heading down to Oaxaca's southern coast to take advantage of their beautiful beaches?
@@BrianandCarrie I would def recommend it, but, you guys know what is best for you. :) I'm hoping to travel full-time at some point in the future so your content is very helpful to me, and others, so thanks for doing it!

Hello Brian and Carrie, my husband can't stop watching your videos. Question: We are going to be traveling full-time as retirees. We are starting in Europe. We bought our backpacks, etc. The question is HOW DO WE BEGIN?!!!! lol We don't know anything about going from place to place with a very limited budget...airbnbs, hotels, trains, buses, planes. It is quite daunting to say the least. It is kind of discouraging. ( our main concern is getting from one place to another and we would like to be spontaneous in our travel, not booking way in advance) Can you help?
Don't get discouraged, Linda! 😊 I would start by booking your first accommodation and learn the bus and train systems as you go. Just look at it as an adventure!! 😁

Great video & hope to see you in Mexico soon! I arrive in CDMX 10/4. Will you be traveling to CDMX? I'm going to try to get the typhoid vaccine before I arrive even though it costs $189 in my area and insurance does not cover it. Have you been using the Larq Bottle PureVis in Oaxaca without any problems? You look so happy, Carrie, so I hope we get a chance to meet in Mexico!
