#Cambodianstreet food #streetfood #Cambodianfastfood
These food joints wouldn’t last a week if they were unsafe. The locals would hound them out
That is so true. Thanks for watching !!
Of course it's safe! My first visit to Siem Reap I stayed right across the street from those street venders and loved it. What surprised me was how many young people came down at night. Great food and the price is right! I was in Cambodia 4 weeks last December and didn't eat western food once. Made every effort to support the small mom&pop shops and try khmer food from north to south. I had a wonderful time on both visits. I'll be back! Thank you for sharing that nice walk about it brought back good memories :)
I am glad that it resonated positively with you. Thank you for watching the videos !!
Nice channel and very informative. Through seeing your vlogs I am contemplating retiring in Siem Reap as opposed to Thailand. Thanks for making a difference.
Well I'm glad I could help.
Thank you for watching the videos !!
With the competition there, bad vendors last minutes. The locals quickly eliminate any unsafe food vendors, so no fear.
Thank you for the comment and watching !!
Good video sir, from CAMBODIAN
Thank you very much. Hope you like some of my other videos !!
Great video, thanks Kelly,,,,,,, now I'm hungry! LOL :)
You and me both!
Thanks for watching bro !!
After +15 years in se asia,,i can say that i been more sick from westernfood in the turistjoints than the asian food i eat everyday.
Rumors spread fast in most places/citys/blocks and if somebody selling "dirty food" they are broke pretty fast and gone.
funny to see that foodstands do the same as thailand in the turistcitys using the khmer numbers for locals and normal numbers for foreigners still cheap but if u know the khmer numbers its cheaper =)
(both Thailand and Cambodia have pretty similar numbers )
Absolutly agree. Thought I would pin this then !!
6am is when the BBQs spark up. The people on my corner serve over 100 people by 10am, then close.
Beware of the raw veg spring rolls.
Thanks for the info and for watching !!
A better question might be: Are your cooks & servers healthy & clean? Eating in restaurants in ANY developing country will expose you to a variety of intestinal issues. Many long-term expats in Mexico (where I live) take a pill annually for this reason. And my Mexican doctor NEVER eats in restaurants for exactly that reason.
I wonder that too. I spent some time in Southern Mexico (Oaxaca) and I am familiar with that yearly pill. Thanks for watching and for the comment !!
Most cooked street food is safe… I can eat in papaya salad from a Marriott hotel. It’s as far I can do with uncooked vegetables… very yummy Khmer dishes…
Thanks for sharing and watching the video !!
Great vid 👌🌶️🙏
So nice of you. Thank you very much for watching the videos !!
Welcome
Man, I love those pork sticks! I always look for those when I walk by those vendors. And I've never had a problem with the street food here. Love the pickled salad they give you with those pork sticks too.
Those pork sticks, if you know, you know.
Thank you for the comment and for watching the video !!
Filipino food has always improved my guts. I have IBS, Colitis, and had one foot of colon removed in the US. Most every food in US makes me sick. Philippines food I am basically cured of my ailments after four days in Philippines.
Very little processed foods. I feel it also with my Crohn's disease. Thanks for watching !!
Kelly , I’m 115 KG , I think those plastic chairs , would be a detriment to my health
Peter
Yes, that may be an issue. I'm 99kg and I sometimes wonder.
Damn! That looks delicious! I don't think I'd get tired of eating out there.
Neither do I !!
Thans for the comment and for watching !!
@@AutumninAsia I almost had to turn it off, that food looked so delicious!!
Most cooked street food are safe. It's the drink with ice that t am concern... Appreciate you put your life On the line for this video... Courageous in Asia is in the house or on this street...
Very true. Ice is an overlooked danger and so is salads washed with !!!
Thanks for watching !!
I prefer the street food and haven't had an issue with it at all. The only time I've gotten sixk at all was from drinking a can of soda. I hadn't had anything sweet for months and when i had it, i was sick all nigth. Haha
Thanks for sharing. And thanks for watching the videos !!
Yes, it's safe. Just use your basic judgment.
Yup!!! Go to the busy stalls, safer there.
We've been eating there all the time when we traveled to SR and we never had any issues. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from Minnesnowta 🍷
Well thank you for the comment and for watching !!
Any plans to visit Cambodia?
@@phlezktravels Usually around December to get away from cold and long winter!
Another great video Brah. I am luvin this channel, do you hear me lad…..luvin it 😎
I would love to buy you some dinner and have a game of chess next time I’m in town 🙏
Thank you and your on,,,,but I don't know how to play chess.
@@AutumninAsia No worries there, I’ll soon teach you 👍.
Keep up the fantastic work with the videos 😎
thank you for sharing! Most of the dishes really look the same as in Thailand, but the variety of food in one place is much greater. it's amazing! I suppose it's a little bit uncomfortable to sit on a small chair too, however, I would like to try.
as for me, I rarely have street food, but I don't have any problems after this kind of food.I agree with other comments about ice and water in Asia. some of the sellers use unpurified water to make ice cheaper. All the best to you!
Great variety for sure, Thank you for your comment and thanks for watching my videos !!
I liked this video.
Thank you very much !!
Kelly, I have walked by this place many times. Very nice video. You captured the food venue very well.
Thank you so much 🙂
And thanks for watching !!
This was so much fun!! I love street food! I hope you do more of these! Thanks for sharing! I can’t wait to visit Cambodia ❤
Thank you! Will do! Thanks for the comment and for watching my videos !!
I go where my nose leads me… delicious delicious delicious 😊
😋
Of course it's safe, do all the time.
Yup, me too !!
Thanks for watching !!
Enjoyed this very much. But you’re making me hungry!
Good! The video worked !!
Thanks for watching !!
Thanks, nice video
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching the video !!
Not afraid to eat the street food in SR. Love it. I have had food poisoning from a popular restaurant, but never from the street vendors
Yup, same here. Thank you for the comment and for watching !!
I tended to eat my Breakfast at a Khmer restaurant called Khmer Taste; that was popular and really cheap.
Lunch was at the self serve type Khymer places, of which i found 2 good ones.
Dinner was at the places shown in the Video, or some cheap restaurant.
Sounds like a plan!!
Thank you for watching the video !!
That depends on everyone's individual stomach and immune system. I know I'm good to go! 😊 Nice video idea.
You hit it on the head. Absolutely correct. Thanks for watching !!
Thanks for the video 😎
No problem 👍
Why is the pricing in U.S. dollars? That many Americans there?
There is a dual monetary system in Cambodia. Both US Dollar and Cambodian Riel.
Thank you for your comment and watching !!
I got sick from eating an American food in Los Angeles, and Washington State. Plus, they were a lot more expensive, instead of $3.00. I paid $30.00 to fill up. In San Pedro and Garment District, they were more filthy with infested drug users.
I hear ya !! As the pinned comment said, if a food stall has bad food, word gets around fast and no one will go there. The best street stall is the one with many locals lining up to get food.
Thanks for watching !!
Have a great time in Cambodia ❤ new friend here ❤
Thanks and welcome. I hope you enjoy the videos !!
I read someone else’s comment about dual pricing! I didn’t notice the pricing I guess. What’s the difference on average from what tourists and locals pay?
Depends on where you are and what you are doing. For example, a pass to go to Kulan Mountain will cost $20, but if a Khmer buys it for you it will cost $13.
In the markets, the difference is so small and it won't break your bank.
Hi, I was hoping you would advise what remedies are available for food poisoning anyway. I thought you had to have only fully cooked food? Salads 🥗 are a no no ? Thanks 😊
That is what I recommend. Not being used to raw foods like shrimp and prawns can give you a bit of trouble.
Thanks for watching !!
Wow never see huge food vendors. Did they have sheep or goat meat. Or you have to buy from market and cook it at home? Thanks brother great video from Dallas tx.
I don't know about other meats besides beef, pork and chicken.
Thanks for watching the videos 😀
❤❤❤❤❤🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭🙏🙏🙏🙏
I agree totally.
Thanks for watching the videos !!
Thank you so much for the video. You mentioned that you did get sick but not from the food from the street vendors. What food did make you sick? I ask because I'm considering retiring there but getting sick from the food there is a concern for me. Thanks
Well, Mark, I will be honest with you. You will get sick (icky toilet times) a few times when you first get here. Everyone does. It may not be in the first week or two, but you will. Just about everyone will say the same. You just need to get used to the different modes of cooking the oils, etc.
I got food poisoning from eating Au gratin potatoes at an Italian restaurant.
Thanks for watching the video !!
@@AutumninAsia Thank you for your honesty and information.
So many options…
Yes there is. Thank you for watching !!
Cambodian popular place for eating. 🥰
Yes, it is. Different than Thailand, not so spicy hot and it is a bit sweeter.
Thank you for watching the videos !!
@@AutumninAsia Cambodian food mostly sweet.
Definitely delicious…
Thank you 😋 And thanks for the comment and watching the videos !!
If your tummy starts to growl, take some Activated Charcoal. Unless you grew up in the environment, your gut is going to say - What is This.
Poop turns black💩
@@AutumninAsia good point to make if you haven't taken Activated Charcoal before. It is used in medical settings to counteract poisoning.
Welcome to Cambodia
Thank you !!
Like the cold beer and meat balls
Cold beer and any kind of BBQ is great. Thank you for your comment.
Am I pretty sure it saved to eat... they haven't had a recall yet like America 😂😂😂😂
Yes, that is very true. Thank you for watching the video !!
🍺 🍻 🍺, I love street food!
Me too! But does street food love me ?!!?
Thank you for watching !!
Look delicious
Thank you 😋
Hello Kelly, another wonderful video. Is that mile of food vendors only available late afternoon-evening or are they there all day? Is the barbeque pork or beef or chicken like Memphis sweet barbeque and or can you buy/add either sweet or tangy or spicy sauce? In the Philippines they have a type of sweet corn muffin called "Puto". Are there a type of sweet bread or muffin available? How much is a can of soda sell for from a street vendor. Is three thousand Riels(75 cents) a fair price? Last question...what in your opinion is the best sweet and sour chicken, fish , beef or pork restaurant/street vendor in Siem Reap. Appreciate your efforts . Respectfully
Well, that is a lot of questions.
Late afternoon they will start setting up, usually before 5pm. As for the different kinds of pork, beef ... it is what it is. I am not a foodie and suffers with Crohn's disease, so you are asking the wrong person.
Sweetbreads and the like, just go to one of the several bakeries here in town.
.50 for a can of soda, but some restaurants may charge more.
Thanks for watching !!
I ate at meny food stalls and even ate the bizarre items , as in small fried frogs, scorpions and such. But I wouldn't touch those fresh water blood clams that they set in the sun all day, even Andrew Zimmerman wouldn't cross THAT line !!!
And you know I wouldn't cross either.
Thanks Bro for the comment.
💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰😋😋
Thank you very much !!
yes you deserve a cold beer!!!
I already had one(?)
on dirt
Yup. Thank you for watching !!
Whether it is safe or not, it is what people can afford. If you don't like street food, go eat in a restaurant; don't judge it as unsafe. Every country has street food vendors.
I agree with you. Not only do I eat at the food stalls, I have a few friends who own a stall.
Thank you for the comment and for watching !!
