Great scene, the fact he tells 2 people this (Charles and Mary Beth) shows how much he valued her, them to had one of the closest and best relationships such a shame it wasn’t explored much
Ariel Nivar There was also a plan to have Arthur travel across West Elizabeth to New Austin with Sadie, which was rumored to have a sort, or a hint at a love sequence. Sadly that was scrapped as well. Arthur gets no love man. 💔
I just like Mary Beth so much she's exactly like my big sister, always there with you in your hardest time always seeing the best of everyone we all need a person like this in our life weather is a family member, or your girlfriend, or a friend even stranger in a street can make you feel better that's call being a true and good person there isn't many people like her that's for sure
On my first playthrough I didn't realize how deep Arthur was , playing through for the second time and not rushing through everything it's changed my own perception this was was one of rock stars finest
I did the exact same thing, you see people say they wish they could play the game for the first time again, I enjoyed it far more on my 2nd playthrough and the playthroughs after that. I finished it 3 days after it launched because I didn’t want anything online to spoil it for me.
I unfortunately skipped all of this during my first playthrough. My second time through, I found all of these redemptive moments for Arthur to be so incredibly profound. I had a newfound appreciation for the game.
Why was there no hugging? I feel when you hear that from someone, they'd need a hug. It doesn't cure the disease, but it does make them feel atleast a little better.
I really liked the parts of the game where you could just talk to Mary Beth or Karen and see Arthur’s thoughts displayed in front of you. It really gives you a perspective of the type of man he was
Mary Beth was my favorite female character in the game. She was the only one who constantly cared about Arthur's life and wellbeing. I'm happy that she got a good ending, though I'd wished she and Arthur would have a romance option. She deserves Arthur more than the other Mary who always asked Arthur to give without returning anything.
She definitely had a crush on him I walked past her in camp after the poker job and had a shave and hair cut and she said something along the lines of oh nice haircut Arthur who you trying to impress
I don't think I ever saw this scene, thanks for posting it. I would still get Mary - Beth's quote about trying to the good thing during Arthur's final ride but not know where it came from.
My honor was high af and everytime I sat down with her she asked what was wrong and the response was always “I been killing a bunch of animals and innocent ppl” yet I never did any of those things. 😂
Actually insane I didn’t watch spoilers for 2 years. I’m in the point in the game where he is sick just didn’t do this convo yet. Fuck man, Arthur was so wholesome even tho I made him into a killer.
Watching this scene just makes me disappointed that Arthur couldn't romance any of the women in the game. The game would have been completely perfect if Rockstar had added a Bioware-esque romance system.
Nah, I absolutely love that he was focused on the gang and the gang only. I mean, it wouldn't make sense if he can romance the women in the camp because he's always loved Mary and never left the gang for her.
*insert Hurt by Johnny Cash* How I wished Arthur couldve spread the seed to MaryBeth, Sadie and Charlotte, so at least when he died..he left some legacy
While I’m no physician I can probably go on a limb here and say that wouldn’t be a wise decision. TB, otherwise known as Tuberculosis is a contagious lung disease that spreads through air contact associated with coughing or bodily liquids such as spit. Spit or saliva to be exact would also fall under the category of semen, and if Sadie or any of the other woman got preggers they’d not only get the disease but subsequently die. The cure for TB would be excessive amounts of antibiotics however they wouldn’t be available until the discovery of it in 1907 in Germany, the first use of it in France in 1911. and wouldn’t go nationwide in the US until the mid 1920’s, and even then the morality rate would well be over 50%.
This scene is so touching yet entirely missable! You won't hear Mary Beth in the last ride scene if you don't get this completely random encounter.... I was lucky to get it on my playthrough... "Trust me, I know... " she'd already decided to leave at that point.
Do you know at what point of the chapter you need to be at to get this event? Or if there are any specific requirements. In all my 4 years of playing this game, it only occurred once for me.
I would kill to have friends like Tilly, Karen (before the bottle), and Mary Beth. The way they force Arthur to talk without actually forcing him is just what I want. They just have this way of opening him.
The part we’re Mary said Maybe you well get better made me tear up , I think Mary is a pure hearted character , I wanted to Antagonize Ms Grimshaw for screaming at her , I don’t know if she slapped her , but I almost lost respect for her , This video is heartwarming, great video
Well we know for sure that Mary Beth had a crush. I think Arthur knew she did, and found her sweet, but never acted on it first because of the feelings he still had for Mary, and second because he probably didn't want to stifle her light: her opportunity to become a writer (which he supported/encouraged several times) and actually make something of herself outside of this life of crime. I really loved them together.
Mary-Beth is the best. She has a lovely personality and looks cute. One can only wish to meet a woman like this in their life. Arthur should have ditched his old flame in favor of this lady.
It's not an easy sickness to spread like covid or the flu. With Tb you have to be in close contact in a closed space for days on end, which they weren't for the most part. It spreads easiest if you, say, spit blood in someone's eye. It spreads easiest through bodily fluids, for the most part it's not a huge risk airborne.
@@Albatross0913 Tb is also a risky airborne disease. And given Arthur lifestyle is miracle he didn’t develop the illness earlier. And he did coughed directly to some of his partners. And there’s the fight with Micah… While it’s true the risk is higher in close spaces, there’s still a risk in open areas, specially if you’re this close to a carrier like Mary Beth and several others were. You reading this from a Doc. 😉. Stay safe and healthy, mate. 💯
I really liked how i had the meter completely in the red, being full evil but after Arthur got TB, I managed to get the meter to swing over to completely good morality before talking to the nun at the train station (and no, i didnt do it by spamming the horse brush, just by always choosing the good choice in every story mission/random encounter from that point on). what an awesome game
This interaction might never happen since it is very easy to miss (if you break John out of prison before getting this, it won't happen anymore) but Arthur will still hear Mary Beth telling him "maybe it is a sign. You have the chance to do the good thing" when he rides alone having flashbacks of what some people told him before the final mission :/
I was so proud to see Mary Beth in an office, employed, in beautiful clothes during the credits. Like John, Mary Beth and Tilly and Person also made it!

Great scene, the fact he tells 2 people this (Charles and Mary Beth) shows how much he valued her, them to had one of the closest and best relationships such a shame it wasn’t explored much
“Try Arthur try and do the right thing”
Those words hit harder during the last ride.
Did you guys know that there was supposed to have a relationship story between Arthur and Mary-Beth they decided to scrap it last minute it.
Ariel Nivar There was also a plan to have Arthur travel across West Elizabeth to New Austin with Sadie, which was rumored to have a sort, or a hint at a love sequence. Sadly that was scrapped as well.
Arthur gets no love man. 💔
@@TheChefShipwreckinAlaska mybea it didn't fit because i guess he was planned to die from the start.
wouldve been cool to have a love sequence w charlotte though
@@offlinemeeting i cant see that, Charlotte to me was a women that was helped out by Arthur and saw him a friend.
I think you pulled that right outta your anus and read it out loud. LOL! JK! I do think that is fake though. Lol.
It’s good to have such people like your sister in life
*has a depressing conversation* "WELL LETS TALK MORE LATER" *in a happy tone*
I feel like when Mary said try and do the good thing, it was the game hinting at you to get the high honor ending
I like how calm the conversation is. It's serious but quiet and calm. The diagnosis really changed Arthur.
On my first playthrough I didn't realize how deep Arthur was , playing through for the second time and not rushing through everything it's changed my own perception this was was one of rock stars finest
I agree! I hope they make a new red dead game though (or a new Bully game would be amazing)
@@offlinemeeting I've wanted a new bully game since I was young playing canis canem edit on ps2
I did the exact same thing, you see people say they wish they could play the game for the first time again, I enjoyed it far more on my 2nd playthrough and the playthroughs after that. I finished it 3 days after it launched because I didn’t want anything online to spoil it for me.
Seeing this brought a tear to my eye, had the same conversation with my close friend a few years ago
Oh man, that's truly somethin. I hope you (or your friend) overcome the hardships that weigh you down.
I unfortunately skipped all of this during my first playthrough. My second time through, I found all of these redemptive moments for Arthur to be so incredibly profound. I had a newfound appreciation for the game.
Glad for you! Love it when you get more from rewatching (or in this case replaying) something
Why was there no hugging? I feel when you hear that from someone, they'd need a hug. It doesn't cure the disease, but it does make them feel atleast a little better.
Would you hug a guy with tb?
@@Konsertt I never said I'd kiss the person, a hug wouldn't contract it.
Arthur was a big strong lug, and an outlaw, I don't think he would want a pity hug.
cause you dont always need a hug to survive maybe just a few words
He's got tb so that means no hugging or kissing
“Do the right thing” also sister Calderon told him the same thing.
mary beth: maybe youll get better
arthur: no i dont think so
dutch: HAVE SOME GODDAMN FAITH
"YOULL BE FINE ARTHUR. I HAVE. A PLAN."
Right.....
YOU FORGOT TO ANTAGONISE MICHA
Who1dat2eat apologies :(
Me: (Replays entire game just so I can antagonize Micah every chance I get)
"I-I'm real sick, Mary Beth... LuMbAGo."
I love how at first in the game your like "SHOOT EM UP KILL EVERYONE" than by the end your like "sob sob sob" this game is awesome/VERY sad
Arthur did the good thing in the end. He won, because he managed to gave a true life to John and his family. He was a good man
I love how if you have high honor her line during the last ride always plays. ALWAYS. "Maybe it's a sign Arthur, try, try to do the good thing".
I really liked the parts of the game where you could just talk to Mary Beth or Karen and see Arthur’s thoughts displayed in front of you. It really gives you a perspective of the type of man he was
Marry Beth is perfect. She's cute and sweet.
Bruh I’d plough her all night
It’s interesting how this dialogue, whether you interact with Mary Beth here or not, plays during Arthur’s final ride to camp when u have high honor.
he should've gave her a little arthur
JAJAJA
But buy doing so he would also give her TB
@@rafaelalodio5116 shhhhhhhh
What the/
Rafael Alódio doesn’t spread through THAT I don’t think
Mary Beth was my favorite female character in the game. She was the only one who constantly cared about Arthur's life and wellbeing. I'm happy that she got a good ending, though I'd wished she and Arthur would have a romance option.
She deserves Arthur more than the other Mary who always asked Arthur to give without returning anything.
Hard same over here. But sadly, Arthur had to pay for all his bad deeds.
“Maybe it’s a sign, Arthur…try…try to do the good thing.”
Such a good quote.
She's in love with Arthur (duh)
I don't blame her
girl would jump that so fast
If you look at other videos she actually had something toward Kieran. Maybe when he died she began to like Arthur? Idk
She definitely had a crush on him I walked past her in camp after the poker job and had a shave and hair cut and she said something along the lines of oh nice haircut Arthur who you trying to impress
yeah you can tell by her shitty reaction right?
R. I. P. Arthur Morgan.
I feel that, even though they never showed feelings for each other, if Arthur had asked her to run away with him, she would've
I agree with this wholeheartedly
this is almost like counseling for Arthur, trying to help him through his problems, thats why i like Mary Beth.
Damn right
Damn, I totally missed this one. Thanks for the upload
You're welcome! Thanks for the comment
the tuberculosis was going to kill Arthur but it made him see the brighter path for his friends and the evil inside Dutch.
I don't think I ever saw this scene, thanks for posting it. I would still get Mary - Beth's quote about trying to the good thing during Arthur's final ride but not know where it came from.
Mary-Beth was always caring, in the end it turns out she got to do what she loved, u can find her as John and she says she writes romance novels
Mary-Beth is best girl
It’s off screen moments like this that truly show how much soul this game has...
Facts
My honor was high af and everytime I sat down with her she asked what was wrong and the response was always “I been killing a bunch of animals and innocent ppl” yet I never did any of those things. 😂
Arthur with the cap 💀
"Were thieves.. in a world that dont want us anymore..."
Actually insane I didn’t watch spoilers for 2 years. I’m in the point in the game where he is sick just didn’t do this convo yet. Fuck man, Arthur was so wholesome even tho I made him into a killer.
Excited for you to finally finish the game
Watching this scene just makes me disappointed that Arthur couldn't romance any of the women in the game. The game would have been completely perfect if Rockstar had added a Bioware-esque romance system.
It’s perfect because he didn’t do that even tho he could.
His stubbornness & being too loyal are part of his character development.
Nah, I absolutely love that he was focused on the gang and the gang only. I mean, it wouldn't make sense if he can romance the women in the camp because he's always loved Mary and never left the gang for her.
'course, then they'd die of TB.
- "Why don't you just fix it with some Potent Miracle Tonic?"
-"Sh."
“It ain’t always clear what that is, not with the big stuff.” a very important line.
Crazy how much his death really hurt me... I miss him as if I knew him in person. One of the greatest characters in a long time..
I feel the same way 😭
Mary-Beth is such a sweet character, making sure everyone is ok in the camp and has someone to talk to ❤
*insert Hurt by Johnny Cash*
How I wished Arthur couldve spread the seed to MaryBeth, Sadie and Charlotte, so at least when he died..he left some legacy
Shit a half Arthur half Sadie Adler baby? That kid would be a God among men.
bastiisalive Definitely with Charlotte. If John meets her later, you could have had a great scene with John telling the child about Arthur.
Red dead redemption 3 confirmed
my top 3!
That campsite was really nice, Shame everyone started hating each other there
Which is it?
Ps. Sry for the necro
I liked Mary-Beth. I was hoping she and Arthur would get together.
A lot of people did. lol
Un verdadero hombre nunca hablaría mal de Mary Beth
I would kill to have friends like Tilly, Karen (before the bottle), and Mary Beth. The way they force Arthur to talk without actually forcing him is just what I want. They just have this way of opening him.
Same here, brother
1:15 This is one of the best voiced lines in gaming.
Mary-Beth seemed to be an angel, in a camp full of devils.
It’s crazy how even in negative honor Arthur is still kind a bit, like there’s good
The part we’re Mary said Maybe you well get better made me tear up , I think Mary is a pure hearted character , I wanted to Antagonize Ms Grimshaw for screaming at her , I don’t know if she slapped her , but I almost lost respect for her , This video is heartwarming, great video
True that
Ah yes Mary Beth, the gang's own therapist
best girl tbh
I honestly think Mary Beth and Arthur had something, they always had these heart to hearts
same
Well we know for sure that Mary Beth had a crush.
It's a big world out there! You're gonna meet a lot of people
I’m really glad Mary-Beth was one of the ones who went on to live a good life
1:32 "be gratefull that for the first time you see your life... clearly"
How lucky were those people who were in close contact with Arthur and didn’t got sick or infected of Tb. Just like Mary here.
And there’s the fight with Micah…
While it’s true the risk is higher in close spaces, there’s still a risk in open areas, specially if you’re this close to a carrier like Mary Beth and several others were.
You reading this from a Doc. 😉. Stay safe and healthy, mate. 💯
I love these straight and deep talk we dont get much these days.
Agreed. Spent hours upon hours just talking to NPCs in my first playthrough
Agree
This just cured my tuberculosis. Thank you Mary-beth, i am glad i told you about it.
always loved Mary, tilly, and karen. Karen was funny to me, tilly and mary were kind, i felt so bad for arthur..
"Sit down, Arthur."
"I'm trying, damnit!"
“That which is killing you will help you, finally to see. And see clearly friend. See and hear”
-Blind man
I love Mary Beth's voice in Arthur's last ride when she says try to do the good thing it's the main reason I never want to miss this conversation
Classic The Arthur scene Bootiful TwT
This interaction might never happen since it is very easy to miss (if you break John out of prison before getting this, it won't happen anymore) but Arthur will still hear Mary Beth telling him "maybe it is a sign. You have the chance to do the good thing" when he rides alone having flashbacks of what some people told him before the final mission :/
I always liked Tilly. I would talk to her the most.
I was so proud to see Mary Beth in an office, employed, in beautiful clothes during the credits.
Like John, Mary Beth and Tilly and Person also made it!
I never got one of these chat times with her at this camp :(
