I've been saying for a year or two that they need to cut their pay by about 3/4. They need to live on paychecks like ours. And then see what it's like. Oh and no insider trading anymore either that's illegal for everybody else it's illegal for them to and if they do it they go to jail. @@dianasims6819 IMHO, they need to return to the original deal. They get a per diem to cover travel to & from DC to home, lodging & food for those days they are required to return to and be in DC. That's it. That's the deal. Don't like it? Quit. It's not a career, it's a temporary privilege & duty.
We'll pay for travel by horseback, stagecoach, car, bus, train or plane whichever costs the least. If they want to travel by a different method they can pay for it out of their own earnings from whatever their daily business is, be it farmer, baker or candlestick maker.
For lodging, until we can build a dorm in DC they can get a room at Motel 6 or equivalent; what is that something like $35 a night? We should probably set a generous $10 limit to start. They can attempt to justify why we should pay for the inflation they caused.
3 meals a day for reimbursement for lets say up to $7.25 (aka Federal Minimum Wage which is probably unconstitutional) per meal including tip. We'll give them a 30 minute break for meals. That's about $22 a day for meals. Isn't that about what they pay for jury duty? Why should Congress get paid more than a jury?
The American people deserve to hear that tape, period! We have a right to listen as we employ you not the other way around, as Mr. Nadler would like it to be... enough of his crap already. Release the Tape NOW, You bunch of scoundrels...
