From humble begins in 1940's Salford to running the most successful Independent bookmaker in the World, but there's more to the story than just Betfred.
It always makes us all laugh when dodgy Fred says that punters should bet to their pocket.... Do you think he really cares about that ? LOL

If these draconian affordability tests were in place thirty years ago, none of these would have two pennies to rub together.... Not legally, anyway.
Betfred is famous for restricting accounts to pennies if you are a sharp customer and show some skill and you might win in the future.
Betfred also hide behind the rock and refuse to pay out if you have a big win like Barney Curley did .Betfred have paid out on the 'Barney Curley coup', ending a 21-month dispute that followed a £4 million paper profit landed by five relatives and friends of the Newmarket trainer in May 2010.

worst shops in the high street virtual racing they only give you around 45 seconds to place bet on virtual racing events in shops in high street also bet Fred not showing certain race or dog race events due to not paying for there subscription in shops they give you 10 minutes before race events to place a bet on horse race events outrageous very pleased they have been taken to court and now have to pay legal fees and pay amount s to customers highlighted on ITV news very please the gambling commission are now on there case and on the RADAR due to fine imposed
every bookmaker restricts winners now
Let’s hope this recent high court case will cost them more in lost custom than the £2million they have had to pay out. Who will trust them now?

A very good and interesting video, watched in one go, full of surprises It proved as always the very best deal in life is love and marriage.
They may have been focused on the Punters back in the 60's but these days they couldnt give a toss. They deliberately withheld £27,000 from me for nearly 3 weeks....... phone and complain and all the important people suddenly disappear. Even wrote to Fred who completely ignored the letter. Dont give yr money to these shysters !!

To be fair offering 6/1 that horse at Sprint Valley on his Podcast was great value when it was 9/2 elsewhere especially when you survey the horses' previous form.

Sickening to watching him NOW look really concerned and tell Punters to bet "responsibly" after he went out of his way to offer incentives to the most impoverished Punters to gamble their way out of financial trouble on those FOBT'S, which increased his profits by an extra £70,000,000 in one accounting period alone.
He took £1,000 of me on Racing Bets, back in the day, fair enough, but then he made sure I could not get it back by restricting my bets to 20% of what I wanted thus making it mathematically, virtually, impossible to claw it back....

Honestly I love stories like this - perhaps given the cliche 'rags to riches' title. But, imo, we should all look to things like this as inspiration. In fairness, I don't like gambling and don't agree with companies taking advantage of people's addictions BUT we should encourage people to start businesses and build their own thing. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but there's a lot of wasted talent out there

Opened an account this week and Won £580 online with betfred this week,I withdrew it and when I logged back on it said I've been blocked,I'd passed all my id inspections already,I can't get a response from anyone cant log on and I'm near £600 down...no wonder why this blokes so loaded
How about all horse 🐎 and dog race betting be pari-mutuel instead of fixed odds. There will be nobody restricted in how much they bet or win since bettors will competing against each other instead of the bookie.
The scam up 50 does not seem fair play to me .It all adds up afterwards but that was not fair play then

my tip for betting on tomorrow’s (sat 3pm) football is to wait until 2.40pm pending extra postponed matches. We know how the bookmakers scam ppl out of any value if there’s PP games or NR if u have lucky 15s or lucky15 each way. So nothing shorter than 2/1 odds incase u get 3 out 4 for a refund? Betting logic….but massive overdogs and slim odds, do they get paid to keep the score low yes. Do horses get armchair rides out of the places overfull of oats or running on empty. Frankie is being a little bit disingenuous about Fujiyama Crest winning the seventh of those races at Ascot, basically all the other jockeys except Eddery had decided thaey wanted to be part of history and essentially never tried a leg so he could win. Wiltshire's logic was spot on, except he didn't know the shenanigans in the weighing room...

Brought up in a poor family and created a business to make poor people poorer. How many kids haven’t had presents on xmas day? How many people have jumped in front trains? Some of the outcomes from gambling.
Gambling brings misery, and pain to people, and there family. It should be made illegal.

I challenge any of you to walk into one of his shops and try to put £500 on one that is in the process of being backed. Even worse if you tried to get on at big money on a Barney Curley horse who was on its way in, they would set the bouncers on you. This man is an accountant who should be made to warn you that WINNERS WON’T BE TOLERATED because that is how he operates that’s for sure plus he’s new gold mine in he and his ilk are now allowed to take a sad cases last few quid with those dreadful machines that should be in a licensed casino only.

A decision like that comes directly from the head office via the area management team. If you make a mistake and take a bet from someone who is barred even when it’s really busy you get a disciplinary meeting

I lasted a matter of weeks with betfred they only want mug punters if you know what you are doing you get sent the email giving you the sack they are not on their own all bookmakers are the same.

Very interesting. What is “fixing odds?” Is there much to be won on slots ? Err no. Unless ur new and they disprove the above temporarily. Is there much to be won on football per say? The 5.45 women’s champions league double of both favs winning is 1/10. Well is it worth putting on a tv ad for example? Value like this…..Jeff stelling, how many 6fields full…or deep dales? Any or Cyril sneers or monty burns want to do an xmas advert for a gambling site? Ppl need money, there’s btr charity’s than the ppl that pay horses to jog not run, and football teams to pretend to want to score loads only to narrow win. thought that the BHA has banned certain jockeys for a period of time once caught its very hard for them to
